Thats Yang Wen-li though.

He meant "I'm depressed and my life is boring"

Are there any other shows out there with the same "feel" as LOGH? With both sides of a conflict being given screen time and fleshed out well

either animated or live action

I wonder if there's a fan cut of "The flags of our fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima" showing both sides

What was Sigismund's tax policy?

Atleast tell me you're not...killing them yourself, McNulty. At least give me that

The 1st Gundam

...

>Zeon
>fleshed out well

Gihren is literally Hitler, and the Zabis as a whole are one-note.

I didn't expect to relate so much to this show

I'm still sad about kircheis

...

>when you're getting a handjob but she isn't very good

...

pretty sure they were implying he is homosexual

...

they all were

...

Are these fake? I thought this was an epic space opera, why is it filled with /r9k/ bullshit?

...

some of these are taken out of context, like but it's part space opera and part men-dealing-with-the-struggles-of-life

>I thought this was an epic space opera
it is

but it's mostly about dialogue and like this guy said they are just fun to post

...

does anyone have that watching order guide image?

...

I love the artwork of LOGH, so amazing

>you will never own all the LOGH seasons on LaserDisk

It's a great show and totally not a meme

My Conquest is the Sea of Stars
Overture to a New War
Main OVA series

jesus christ

I once made a CAST EM but got bored of it before I could finish

I'd start with the main series, because some of the prequel stuff has some serious boring shit, it might be off-putting

This was such a bizarre moment in the series.

There had been a ton of space battles before this and we'd never seen any "what happens when the ships go boom". They also never do this again

It's like the production suddenly remembered hey we should show what happens when the ships blow up and after they did patted themselves on the back and never mentioned it again.

it is pretty good, any more would have been letting your autism run riot

Why did you cast so few Asian actors?

to be fair, you can't show it too often or else it gets boring. it was supposed to be a shocking moment, but I agree with you to some part

but they also try to show the cruelty it in other ways I think, for example when there's this nice guy recharging julians fighter, or whatever they do, and the ship explodes right after he leaves

Because Yang is the only Asian in the show, he's part Chinese. The entire Galactic Empire's upper class is white and the Free Planets A is mostly white, hispanic, and black.

...

...

I think throughout the space battles they always found a good middleground between a) showing the way battleships and people on them are really just pawns for war generals and b) still adding some personalisation in those battleships by introducing generals and characters that served on them

Too melodramatic or too much "faceless cannon fodder" would've ruined that balance, but they always handled it extremely well with recurring characters dying

...

...

Makes sense

>no George Clooney as Schenkopp
>no CLASSIC Paul Dano as Reinhard
3/5

I'm watching the OVA of Legend of the Galactic Heroes and I just got done watching the episode where Yang Wen-Li schools the Rosenritter in chess. I was blown away! I had to watch it a couple times to really pick up on it, but did you guys realize that when he was teaching them about the chess pieces, he was really referring to THEM being the pawns of history! What an amazing metaphor!

It was so deep and meaningful, I am amazed by the deep symbolism of this.

Do the later gaidens continue on with masterful symbolism like this? This was truly the pinnacle of storytelling that I have ever seen on an animu, and I think I can confidently say Legend of the Galactic Heroes is the best show ever made without even having seen the entire series.

Also the Engrish is amazing. The FPA anthem and fourth OP do a great job sounding authentic.

holy shit

Fake screencaps exist too, but they aren't funny (or at least, not as funny as the actual show).

what the fuck is this shit?

fuck
i guess i'm gonna watch this show now

youtube.com/watch?v=y0mxz2-AQ64

Zeon is fleshed out - the Zabis are one note because they are corrupt and power hungry.

You can't tell me Dozel's final stand at Aboa Qu or however it was spelled wasn't moving.

it's literally just this one scene though, the series is awesome and you should definitely watch it, just don't get false expectations

I mean the explicit violence, there's tons of space battle

the hand to hand combat is pretty brutal too, even though it's kind of silly because the alliance's speical guys (forget their name) just kind of hack through everyone as if they are butter

totally forgot about that, but it's a bit comical anyway

>the alliance's speical guys (forget their name)
ro-ROSENRITTER!!!!

oh yeah i'm sure this isn't ashit gore-fest
but if they're brave enough to do this
then i'm in

Vice Admiral Rainier von Wolfcastle

Hand-to-hand combat happens because there is magic space dust called Seffle/Zephyr particles that explode when you shoot them, so people will use axes and crossbows when they're inside areas with Zephyr/Seffle particles.

Other than those particles and the FTL, LoGH is almost hard scifi.

The Wire. Which is why OP is comparing Yang and McNulty.

I know, just wanted to do a "legal" LOGH discussion

The Wire.

>the scene with Reuntal
Fucks my shit up everytime.

I'm still sad about him, Yang, Rein, Reuntal and Jessica Edwards, not to mention a good amount of other characters, but that's what made it so good on the other hand.

You fucking what, mate?

VIVA LA DEMOCRACY! VIVA LA YANG!

Don't remind me, mate.

It's the best anime out there, though it's hard to say if you're not sarcastic. Poe's law, eh?

Muh sides.

ROSENRITTER!

Who's your favorite character and which side do you support more? Yang would be mine since it's my ultimate history self-insert so far. Jessica Edwards is the best girl.

That'd be neat, actually.

...

...

Best boi

...

Kek kek kek
Fukken savage

So rewatching the series, how come people never seem to mention Hild? She basically won the whole goddamn thing for Reinhard.

...

But he got a girl eventually who understood him.

Is there a recommended episode guide for this show?

...

Watch the prequel film "My Conquest Is The Sea Of Stars" then watch the main show. You can go back to spin offs, but it's not mandatory, but it does increase the time you'll spend with the show and that's always a plus.

>this was happening every battle

>becomes God Empress of entire goddamn galaxy
>becomes advisor to fucking Julian on some shitty fortress in the middle of nowhere

IT'S NOT FAIR

I think the first episode has a close friend of Yang's get like impaled on a pike since he didn't form a semi-circle in time

Life's not fucking fair. Look at what happened to Jessica.

That's how the cookie crumbles rebel scum.

except superior genetics and upbringing

Too bad your Empire is not going to prosper since, you know, the Emperor has fallen.

>Yang Wen Li about to destroy husbando's flagship because of his magic semi circle powers
>He literally can't be stopped tactically
>Force him to surrender by using fucking Bittenfeld of all people to bumrush Job and have Job order Yang to surrender
>Yang has victory in the palm of his hand and the only thing blocking him from shooting Reinhard to bits is his sense of honor
>The man he hates more than anyone is telling him to surrender
>Yang surrenders anyways
Hildegarde destroyed Yang by literally using his own sense of morals against him and I don't think he ever got to know it.

Constitutional Monarchy:^)

Historian implied to be from said Monarchy and said Monarchy implied to be doing well:^)

Did Reinhard even see Hildegard as a woman, or just as a womb that happened to give really good strategic advice from time to time?

But then Yang wins at the end, because Reinhard said constitutional monarchies just turn into democracies.

~20 episodes into this why should I finish it? Only thing I like is the art style

>fucking Bittenfeld of all people
Don't you dare shit on best boi!
Pretty sure he never considered her a womb. I mean, they make a huge point out of how he never gives a shit about marriage or children before hilde introduces him to her vaginamagic

But for how long will that last? History tends to repeat itself. Also, this Do you value well written array of characters that feel like you've known them your whole life? Do you appreciate a good political show that displays the faults of both systems and doesn't make factions black and white? If you've liked shows like Mad Men, The Sopranos or The Wire, you should like this one, too.

If you don't like it after 20 episodes then that's probably not going to change.

That cult was a missed chance at critiquing religious extremism.

>Yang wins in the end
I mean, I don't think Reinhard's goal was perpetual autocracy - his goal was to conquer the stars and change things for the better and he did. It's him who gives Hildegard the authority to be the Regent after his death and to transition to a constitutional monarchy if she so chooses, which ultimately she does.

So you can say democracy lives on, but it's not like the fight was Reinhard vs the ideal of democracy - it was Reinhard vs the FPA, and the FPA is history.

If you LoGH-babbies don't stop invading our board, consequences are never gonna be the same for you. Consider yourself warned.

Is Petty Officer Louis Mashengo not enough for you? Do you want Reinhard to become Reinhizzle?

Why is there Star Wars prequel stuff in the background?

It made way more sense within the context of japanese challenges with cults back in the days.

Like the Sarin gas attacks, huh?

Reinhard never won to Yang, though.

Let's be honest here, this board is plauged by constant shitposting and it's quite rare to see a legit discussion. Just in last 4-5 days I've tried to open several discussion about different films/shows and I'd get 5 replies at best, even though I put some effort into them. It hurts me to see the threads with +200 replies are mostly shitposting ones, e.g. "What's his tax policy*". Also, why the fuck should I be scared of some literal who on Mandalorian site made to discuss gun porn?

Could be.

I love how Bittenfeld despite being a dumb brute who occasionally fucked up quite bad, still ended up being one of the more effective commanders by simply using shock and awe to the extent that even Yang had problems with him once or twice.

>dat ugly grandpa Reinhard
Reinhard is supposed to look like a jailbait fuccboi. End yourself, worst casting ever. Even if it's a troll one.

it cracks me up that hildegarde is like a more "hard" version of kircheis

do you think reinhard made her wear a red wig
