Beethoven was an extremely aggressive composer for his time, or probably any time. Chopin's scherzi have tonal progressions and harmonies and a speed which remind me of metal.
However, a lot of metal is garbage and nearly all of it is degenerate. Two composers who also lead into metal though fairly nicely (although generally a lot more complex) are Liszt and Mahler
