Why don't they just grow crops and build their infrastructure near a potable water source?

Why don't they just grow crops and build their infrastructure near a potable water source?

Why would they do that?

they would rather die and easy death
smart imo

if they're able to create a proper societies, even small, then maybe they can progress to a more organised stage where they can start caring about land and build tools to go to war with.
it would be like looking back 3000 years for the rest of us.

gid gud nigger

There aren't many potable water sources, it's Africa

People do plant crops, they just aren't as efficient growing them as elsewhere because of a lack of education

why dont they just move to where they can then though?

Huge amounts do, which explains the huge explosion in population of African cities

If you mean "move to a river", lots of people do live by rivers, but those aren't the people you see on Christian aid adverts dying of thirst

>Real life is just like age of empires

They should fucking irrigate their land.

If they grow crops, I think another clan in a nearby village will rob them.

>>Real life is just like age of empires
come on nigger give me one good reason why that starving marvin isnt better off moving somewhere with better access to food and water

>tfw no starving african gf

Australians want to be more connected/

Why don't they just move closer to other countries?

They don't know how, so instead of doing the dirty work and figuring out how to do something, they'd rather go the easy route and migrate to an already developed country.

because large scale farming requires significant investment, and dumping food aid pretty much ruins local markets.

Corruption and in some cases warlords prevent infrastructure and investment.

Ignoring the fact that millions do do that

You realise that the people who die in famines/droughts literally have nothing to their name? A plastic bowl is the prized treasure of millions of people. How will you know where to go when you don't have an education, you have literally no money and you have no way of getting anywhere

a lot of them did. thats why people live in europe and asia now

Agriculture is the #1 economic activity in Africa. It's just that they still have much more traditional local agriculture which they sell at local markets.

African soil isn't as great as it might seem. Then there's wildlife problems, infrastructural problems, climate issues, warlords, etc. Even if you succesfully manage to grow wheat somehwere in Africa, ask yourself: what now? Have fun trying to keep it fresh and transporting it to somewhere, and from there on: where would you sell it to? Both Europe and the USA have protective measures in place to prevent foreign agriculture to compete with their internal markets. And other African countries hardly import food.

An intelligent post

This

Never mind that Africa is a big place and there have been thriving societies there, like the Igbo. It's not fair to compare every black African to the ooga booga Dinka and Nuer who genocide each other for cows in the current year.

They can grow well but margin of profits are ass on a lot of crops Unless you have massive size and subsidies. Also a lot of crops that are adapted to local conditions don't have high output or in the case if folio despite the massive benefits have a snack consumer base (lots if countries are ditching their healthier crops for shittier staples like rice due to price issues(.

>dumping food aid pretty much ruins local markets.

Lol no (they give food out during tines if crisis(. It's food trade that dies that shit actually but you can't really ban foreign food produce due to several reasons.

Some african exchange students here said the reason the most people never thought about using a wheel, making water tunnels and etc is because there as no need to expand or develop.
Basically their upbringing and cultural value as well as mindset is stuck on, wake up to enjoy the sun and that's about it.

Also rather funny to hear how many of these exchange students have big dreams of turning their home nations into super nations. Not that it's wrong but I doubt it, unless they can fix African time.
