Who is the Kubrick of our generation?

Who is the Kubrick of our generation?

No one.

Christopher Nolan

PTA tried

this, closest is probably Tarantino, but not because of his ability but because he has carte blanche with the studio

Paul Thomas Anderson is by far the closest candidate, both in terms of filmmaking style and auteurship

Its a tie between Nolan and Snyder

this man right here.

None, you're all retarded.

between these two. these two have a distinct style in which you can tell its made by them. tarantino's latest films have been shit though

this, he's the closest to Kubrick and he's really far

definitely not this, kys

PTA tries to be Altman

Nolan.

Wesley Anderson

wes anderson when it comes to their obsession to detail

Luc Besson

...

Ben Affleck

Luc Besson isn't even the Luc Besson of our generation

...

How can he be a genius writer and filmmaker both, it's not fair

that was back in the 90's

...

dude even looks like kubrick

Damien Chazelle looks like a young Kubrick

>The Master
>Inherent Vice

The next Kubricks aren't allowed to flourish in this new Hollywood of capeshit and remakes

I agree. I think his playing in different genres isn't as drastic as Kubrick though.

The Master is more John Ford imo, and beyond the ensemble aspect and subversiveness of it, Inherent Vice doesn't resemble an Altman film at all in the way it explores the counter culture of that period

Kubrick was so fucking kewl

Besides the death threats he received for Clockwork, his life seemed super fun and comfy.

Good choice.
