Why do people cream themselves over the 90s?

It really wasn't what you think it was, your brain portrays events in the past as wonderful but that's only because you've forgotten all the bad things.

Today we have extremely fast technology, massive advancements in health and science and shit kids in the 90s would've died to get their hands on.

2016 is essentially better as you have so much more now than there was in 1996. Sure, the Twin Towers were still standing but now the World Trade Center is just a few years off from being complete once again.

I am fond of the 90s because it was the last bit of life before the internet and social media ruining our personalities and priorities. I remember making an entire day out of riding my bike around outside and never worrying about stupid shit like checking my phone for texts. People at concerts were focused on talking to each other and watching the band, not fucking filming it. Things like that were why it was better. The world so complicated and judgmental today that all it takes is one picture of you smoking pot on the internet for the entire country to ostracize you (Michael Phelps)

Look at how fucked up people born after 2000 are. Utterly obsessed with selfies, social media, twitter, anything to virtue signal and gain status amongst their peers. It isn't healthy or normal behavior and needs to end. People need to learn to be content with just existing in the world again.

Thank you for proving OP's point.

he's right you know

>shit kids would have died...etc

Except fresh air, exercise, socializing outside of the Internet and getting laid before 30.

90's was the pinnacle of modern music, disagreeing with this is not an option.

>Look at how fucked up people born after 2000 are.

Tarring an entire generation with the same brush is absolutely retarded, there are many kids out there with common sense. Good parenting will lead to having good children, don't hand your kid an iPhone when they're 5 years old. Wait until they are a responsible teenager who can make their own decisions.

>fast technology
Yeah and it's filled with normies and crazy feminists and SJW who want to censor everything on the internet

>massive advancements in health and science
Like what? I don't count iPads and iPhones as massive scientific advancements

You do realise that music has been infested with forced diversity, liberal morals and what not for god knows how long now?

Classical and local is the real white man's music.

90s gave us Die Hard 3 so..

Excluding personal stuff, I actually think this decade is shaping up to be the best one in terms of political events, happenings and technological advancements.

2016 has been GOAT for news and politics.

It's technology that can be put to good use, don't let a bunch of retarded SJWs on Tumblr stop you from using that stuff efficiently.

iPads and iPhones aren't related to health or science you mong. Shit like cancer treatment, space mapping and what not has come a long way since the turn of the millennium.

my step child literally never takes his eyes off his tablet computer and when it freezes we try to ignore him throwing a tantrum and wheezing like a fucking animal so he'll do more normal things but my sister eventually gives in and fixes it for him every time

No. I would cream myself if OP wasn't continually a faggot.

People were better back then because they had to work it out more in general. They were more interesting to talk to, they were more independent from government cucking and overall better people.

Nowadays people don't give any more effort to anything; they just google it on their wireless tracking device and they have their answers. Which are mostly government promoted as that's what Google puts up in their faces when they search for it.

Technology wise it has improved, but the entertainment content that is produced currently isn't nowhere as good and that's something everyone can easily notice. You know movies and shows are full of SJW crap, and at least some of the animations of the 90s did have good values such as friendship, love (actual love and not queer or gay shit) and their casts were mostly or completely White (except for a few shows that came off USA).

2016 is an oversaturated hivemind in all aspects. Nobody has the balls anymore to have an own opinion because it could cause them to be outcasted in all places. They just mooch off the trendy opinion in the hivemind. Even we here in Sup Forums do it all the time.

Talk some fucking sense into your sister, throw the kid outside and give him a ball. Lock him out and don't let him in until he starts playing with it, if he's spending all his time inside he probably has a Vitamin D deficiency and needs some sunshine.

This + PCness was in its infancy.

Guarantee OP was born during the 90s and hardly experienced life without social media.

Cultural marxism infected the entertainment industry way before the 90's m8. You were still being force fed multiculturalism.

>oday we have extremely fast technology, massive advancements in health and science and shit kids in the 90s would've died to get their hands on.
wut, such as?
90s was a good time because it fell in between the cold war and 9/11, and there was a littel bit of optimism about how the world would turn out

Whatever floats your boat.

The 90s were still awesome.

Yes, but it wasn't a full force pumping as it is currently. You had some exceptions (or at least I do remember shows that had plots and relationships we would consider outrageous nowadays in tumblr terms).

Well I was born in 1990 but I didn't generally enjoy my childhood because the 90's in Bongland were shit. In the 2000's it got better and it's only very recently (2014) that it's gotten shit again.

I miss the 90s because I didn't want to kill myself then

Hey look, it's that faggot from the other thread.

As I said before, kill yourself.

Really things feel so bad now it's easy to be nostalgic but the '10s are hardly any different from the '90s. Things are more pozzed but everything was already set in motion a long time ago.

9/11 showed how the Americans are absolute pussies.

They're still frozen in horror because 3,000 people died in one day. 6,000 people die every hour. It's been fucking 15 years, it's time to move on.

No gay shit every where you looked. No terrorist attacks on US soil. mass shootings slim to none. No one taking pictures of themselves making goofy faces like fucking idiots then posting it to social media for nothing more than attention. Music was a shit ton better. Shall I go on ? Because I can. The only viable benefit of today's era is the fucking iPhone. Literally......and a few great cable tv shows.

There's been a lot of 90's discussion recently Mr Amerifat, I'm pretty certain that ain't me.

he's 4. we can't throw our 4 year old child outside and lock him out.

Then do something wholesome with him. Get a board game or some shit, Jenga, Lego or anything.

Music was definitely a shitton better though harder to find since you couldn't just search online for it as easily. Most modern music makes me wish Yellowstone would erupt.

>and what not.

When I was a kid in the 90's:
>We had internet, but it didn't have much on it of interest. Your house couldn't get phone calls while you were on it. It was slow, and mostly text as pictures to forever to open. 800x600 was max res. And the only computer was in the living room, with mom.
>We started to get cell phones in the 90's... but calls were super expensive. A typical call was "Baseball practice is over, you can pick me up now. Bye." No one lived on their phone outside of Wall Street douches. Maybe a dozen or so kids in my entire school had one in 1999 (my 8th grade year). Now they pretty much all have them.
You are right, having the perspective of life before these things makes feel so lucky.

>No gay shit every where you looked
Pride and diversity was being pushed in the 90's
>No terrorist attacks on US soil
The fact that Americans are still sad over 9/11 astonishes me, it's been 15 years for christ's sake.
>No one taking pictures of themselves making goofy faces like fucking idiots then posting it to social media for nothing more than attention
There will always be a group of retards everywhere you go, don't pay attention to them if you don't like them.
>Music was a shit ton better
Matter of personal opinion

the 90s were shite

it was the 80s that were absolute god tier

Lived through the 90s as an adult. Only good things:

- Early 90s Grunge destroyed the horrible shit that was hair bands.

- Rise of the World Wide Web and email taking off.

Thought Libs ripped on the 80's because "muh reaganomics"

Plenty of places were fucked up in the 90s though look at the Balkans and Russia/Chechnya.

I miss my game boy

I grew up in the 80s and 90s as a working class kid and it was paradise.

My father was a construction workers who raised 3 kids on a single salary and was able to buy a house from his income.

Try that today. You wont even be able to raise a single kid off two incomes and you definitely wont be able to afford a house. Only way to raise a family today is to be an unemployable shitskin on welfare.

80s and 90s were better in every respect. Internet quickly turned out to be bullshit too, if the internet went down forever tomorrow, nothing of value would be lost.

>no social media
>music wasn't completely dominated by rap and club
>sjw sensibilities were mostly ignored
>economy was great

Why do people overall cream themselves over the past?.

Nostalgia, we mostly have those thoughts rooted in the part of the brain were it makes us feel good, similar to porn. We ignore the negative aspects for the positives.

Because what is the memory being poor compared to having a memory of you having a touching moment with your parents as a child

Go and buy one then.

Blame Merkel and her Commie crew fucking your economy and giving refugees fucktons of money.

Why haven't you voted that whore out yet?

Northern Ireland also

Those days are gone now, any man with common sense would now be trying to build a future for his children and grandchildren.

The time to be reminiscent of the past is gone, we must start laying the foundations for the future because if we don't, future generations are screwed.

>being so weak minded you can't listen to music without becoming a faggot

Maybe its just nostalgia but i cant imagine a song like this in 2016(they probably exist but i dont see them) most music today just seems like wiggers or blacks signing about money or women dressed like whores.
youtube.com/watch?v=9BMwcO6_hyA

And the creativity in the 90s (same with 80s too) wasn't the only thing why I prefered them to current years; manners and clothing were better too, just look around the West how everyone wears fucking leggins, tattoos, piercings and all that crap that makes them look like literally buffoons. They're ridiculous.

I consider 80s-90s clothing styles of all ages to be juvenile and rebellious but at the same time it kept a normality of sorts, specially women's clothing. Their current fashion is literally them asking for a sand/nigger to rape them.

People where way more cynical and hateful which is a good thing. Being called a faggot on a daily basis was the norm. Now if you do that everyone will scream and call you a bigot. Fuck that.

Also TV and video games where at their peak.

>it's about the towers standing, not why they were destroyed or the implications of it

>most music today just seems like wiggers or blacks signing about money or women dressed like whores

I don't pay much attention to music right now but maybe you should step back and see the bigger picture metaphorically speaking. The Top 40's doesn't automatically sum up today's music. There's still room for creativity.

I'm guessing you're a millennial. Music was without a doubt better. Stars were stars. You say only a small group of retards are taking silly photos no EVERYONE is taking silly unnecessary photos. Lastly, my thoughts about terrorist attacks aren't due to me being sad. Life is different , security measures are extreme and we just had Omar Mateen kill 49 people just to impress a Muslim organization. Why did he choose gays ? Because like I said , the gay agenda is everywhere. A gay may have been jumped in the 90's or beat up but no one would even think of doing what he did because the media wasn't shoving trannies and men kissing men down your throat.

The 25 million german boomer pensionaires decide all elections. They vote NATO puppet Merkel for political and economical stability and for their annual 5% pension raise.

There's no voting out Merkel.

it was an economic boom and you could make a TON of fucking money very very very easily

>No terrorist attacks on US soil

WTC bombing
Oklahoma City
Unabomber
Army of God

This, although I think the cutoff is more like 2005, mostly because my little brother and his buddies, who were all born in 2000-2001, are pretty much Sup Forums-tier in their jokes and stuff, and usually only use social media to share Trump jokes and the like. Although this probably only represents like half of kids from that age group.

The 90's had JNCO jeans, that's all I'm going to say.

2016 is literally grabbing the worst things of the 90s (crippling progressivism, homosexuality, transsexuality etc) and augmenting them by 900x while destroying everything that made the 90s worthwhile. It's really a terrible year in all aspects.

>b-but muh techz
That's another reason why 2016 people suck. They're technojunkies. What they need is to get off the computer and meet some people (although there aren't many real people anymore that aren't hivemind bots)

Totally comparable to 911.

Born in 77, can confirm, 90s weren't shit. Really everything after 95 or so is all the same fucking blur.

Everyone on Sup Forums is a Millennial for fuck's sake. If you're on this board and you're older than 30 you need to re-evaluate your life.

A real man won't let shit like terrorist attacks, security or retards on Snapchat bring him down. Besides all this SJW hip bullshit is probably gonna die out eventually as it's become more taboo.

Things are getting strange, I'm starting to worry
This could be a case for Mulder and Scully

2016 has Trump and Brexit though.

The EU has started to collapse and Trump is the antidote to progressive Democrat agendas in the US.

2017 is when we take back what's ours.

>2016 is essentially better as you have so much more now than there was in 1996.

no, i don't.

Elaborate.

the state of the economy was better. gdp growth was higher and fed set interest was higher making bonds a option for retirement while not affecting housing loans and student loans

now there is a growing homeless problem. even while the obama administration claims unemployment is going down. food cost more so does electricity. both have outrun normal inflation in price adjustments over a ten year period of time

>I don't pay much attention to music right now
but listen to me tell you how things right now are better

Technology has always changed societies, whether it was the invention of the wheel, airplanes, electricity, TV, etc...
Technological breakthroughs will never stop occuring and will change each generation

However, we have control over feminism and immigration, which are 2 cancers the 2010s ia dealing with

Now you need to defeat Clinton and elect Trump.

At least you anglos will take back the country but it's not looking as nice for us here.

GOOD MORNING!

Which country may be the next to leave the EU?

I consider that it might be an Eastern one like Hungary or Poland. Le Pen is still a minority but the idea that the EU is breaking the country is a big thing in most Eastern European countries. The only issue lagging it would be that neither Polish or Hungarian gov would get bux if they separated, but if something happens that breaks the constant mooching of those, then it's sealed.

*me grinning*

Look you fucking idiot, I was staying my opinion which you, the OP asked for via your post. No one here is letting anyone or anything bring them down I can assure you of that. I accept what comes. It's apparent you know your era is shit so your becoming offensive. You must find some validity in what I'm saying. Let me also address this trend in Sup Forums of younger posters thinking older posters " need to evaluate their life" if they are still on Sup Forums as if being a thirty or forty something should automatically exclude someone from a political forum. Let me be clear , the only reason this site, particularly this forum is what it is is because of the older guys with experience and perspective sharing their opinions. I'm not a neckbeard , I have a career and a productive life. Cheers.

Those technological advances didn't consist of mindless egotistical self indulgences. They were actually needed. Unlike social media.

I do argue that the gen. of the 90s was the last one where children had actual infancies. They're currently bombarded with progressivism and literally 0 values since they have logical understanding. Sometimes even before that.

>Today we have extremely fast technology, massive advancements in health and science and shit kids in the 90s would've died to get their hands on.

Not all of us are materialst kikes who define quality of life by what contraptions and gadgets are available to us.

If you have a career and productive life then there's really no reason why you should still come here.

Ever since Sup Forums harbour, we've been attracting underages here like a magnet because we've become a unironic meme board. People now would rather unironically shitpost with "A FUCKING LEAF" and "PRAISE KEK" then have actual political discussion.

Yep. Forums were great. Social media is absolute degenerate trash that allows people to indulge their narcissism with the click of a button.

Because 2007 hadn't come around.

2007 was the turning point where people could no longer act foolish, within reason, one day and be professional the next with little to no consequences. Facebook, Tumblr, iPhones. These three things coming into the public destroyed the world as we knew it by turning the world from smaller communities to a world wide one.

No shit.

Computers were slow and the internet wasn't really a thing yet.

And it seems to me we were just fine without it.

A productive life means a person shouldn't kept their finger on the pulse of the world and peoples opinions? I also watch CNN and listen to NPR. Should I stop doing those things as well? You're still on that young shit thinking you're cool for being on Sup Forums and older people shouldn't be here. Grow up.

Back then we used to have PATIENCE to wait for contents to arrive in expectation. And the internet had better content overall, as some others have stated here.

Its good to be a third world monkey cuz we just started to get retarded here.

>No mass immigration
>No Eurojewing
>No crisis
>No mass censorship
>No globalism fuckery
>Pretty much good jobs and houses.
And all of this.

I'm just saying this place is a shithole and how I'm surprised you're still here, what keeps you here?

I wouldn't know. Someone showed me the internet in 1996. It was so unimpressive I don't think I went back on it until the early 2000's.

Guess I had better things to do back then.

But that just proves my point. "your brain portrays events in the past as wonderful but that's only because you've forgotten all the bad things."

Of interest: youtube.com/watch?v=hWq4DWfrpu8

>I also watch CNN and listen to NPR. Should I stop doing those things as well?
If you want your news to be unbiased and not filled with propaganda then yeah, you should.

Thank you, but I already watched that one before :-)

There were bad things, but everything was slowly changing for the better and people had faith in the future. Now we're expecting either another world war or a slow death.

I just came here like last year. I'm not a guy who's been coming here since its inception that still can't get enough. Why do I come here? I get non watered down opinions and genuinely clever post. If there is another site where I can find this please direct me to it. I've always been an independent thinker and I find other like minded people here. If you think turning a certain age is supposed to make someone less interested in truth and authenticity you're wrong.

But they were local conflicts with no global ideology behind them at the time.

Not really pussies, more like children.
Actual 9/11 wasnt that significant, americas reaction to it was very

You asked why people like the 90s and they answered. There were obviously bad things as we've stated here (things were slower, we had less of everything, and the bad things were already there and slowly increasing) but even considering this, they were better years and more enjoyable and sane.

I still recall living under a liberal government that constantly threatened to disarm us.

Shitty time to be a gun owner.

The key is variety, then cross reference and seperate facts.

>2016 is GOAT due to the major increase in world instability and possible happenings
>good

Only in Sup Forums I tell ya

Ps. I love that shit too

What I hate most about 90's nostalgia on here is that underaged idiots equate it to the 50's here in America when in fact the degeneracy was starting to go into full gear (and had been since the 60's, where before it was mostly underground after the market crash.)

Personally, the 90's never quite made the comeback or have as much of an obvious theme like the three previous decades. Granted, they were better than the next two in terms of cultural impact, (The tens have more or less defined themselves as 'uplifting', minimalistic, 'sincere', and 'post-ironic'; A codification of all the hipster tropes that existed in the late 2000's mass-marketed in the most ironic fashion. The 00's were a repeat of the 80's filtered through extreme materialism and the birth of the internet.) but the 90's never quite percolated back into style as much.

>No mass immigration
This is blatantly wrong, immigration was still increasing in the '90s.

>No globalism fuckery
>What is the Gulf War

You were clearly not born in the 90s, fuck off.
