What are the best documentaries you've seen this year Sup Forums?
No Home Movie, Chantal Akerman's final film.. was unique and beautiful
This years? Nothing. This is only semi related, but I wish that Impossible Pictures made some prehistoric movies again.
Did nothing catch your fancy?
>(((David))) Sexton
>Indiewire
>The Guardian
>Meryl Streep
I literally do not understand what you are trying to say
Because it's just a poster with reviews, typical selling points..
propaganda
Are you saying the film is? Because you clearly haven't watched it
Does it show that the kid died because his dad wanted free dental care?
I'm saying that that's what that user meant. I haven't seen it so I will stay neutral.
I am assuming this is a joke or a one-off situation
I guess. What's the point in mentioning it though, it's on every poster of everything ever, reviews are
It's not a joke. The only reason that kid was at sea in the first place was because his dad wanted free dental. If his dad wasn't an egoistic asshole his family wouldn't have drowned and little Ayyy wouldn't have washed up on a beach, but that's all the media shows you. Without all the facts, without the entire story, people are lead to draw false conclusions.
Well right sure, that'll happen, but many are suffering from war
Which war? The vast majority of them are Africans who fell for a meme.
And opening a refugee route across the Mediterranean is a really bad idea. Keeping it open by not sending them back is another one. Bet that's not how Meryl Streep sees it though.
sounds like a good COMEDY
Surely you are aware of the many wars across the African continent that damage millions of lives
Typical Sup Forums
Less than there used to be. It's a literal meme, they got Chinese whispered into believing all their problems will be solved in Europe.
They're overwhelmingly economic migrants.
I would argue that it's morally sound to allow in 100 suffering people even if another 9900 or 99900 benefit economically
why didn't they just build functioning boats?
They benefit economically. Your country does not benefit.
Socialist systems were set in place to benefit you, not people who have contributed nothing, and in many cases do not even respect the most basic laws of your country.
Help your suffering countrymen instead of African leeches.
Would you allow in 100 suffering people knowing that statistically at least one of them is going to rob, rape or kill?
I haven't seen any this year but I did watch Herzogs Happy People: A year in taiga, last fall.
Not that one at least. Nor 13th.
O.J. Made in America was fucking kino though
Also watched life, Animated. Was ok
Yes because that is still 99 lives saved. However, it isn't that black and white.
Don't refugees benefit a country economically after around 4 years or so? It's growth
I am yet to see OJ. Have it though. 13th was pretty good, a little simplified and didn't allow for much discussion but it was still very interesting and brought up good points
That's the doco I am least excited about this Oscar season. Only ok? I have it... guess I will have to find out
>it's morally sound to allow in 100 suffering people even if another 9900 or 99900 benefit economically
That is a sure fire way to kill your society.
Except that is not how it works at all, it doesn't kill society
so 100 suffering people actually get the help they need and the rest of them are just filthy uneducated moors looking for a handout. You are going to crush the welfare system in a decade.
>Don't refugees benefit a country economically after around 4 years or so? It's growth
Fuck no. You think they specifically go to Germany for reasons other than it offering the best benefits?
I'm confused.. many get real jobs and start working.
Are you Canadian? What world do you live in?
does this documentary say why saudi arabia didnt take a single refugee but instead all the countries who have nothing to do with the crisis have to take all the refugees?
also
>merryl streep
oh boy here we go
>many get real jobs and start working.
What jobs?
Mr. Thorax's Scientology movie/metadocumentary/mockumentary
>many get real jobs and start working
none of them get jobs, none of them want to get jobs and none of them would even be concidered by any business owner for anything other than the lowest of low works. i dont even understand what would make you think anything else.
this is either really bad bait or you are living in a complete fantasy world
Most refugees usually aren't allowed to do so. Most don't anyways.
In my place of work we hired a Syrian geologist but that's because the boss was Syrian as well.
>Yes because that is still 99 lives saved
No that's 100 lives saved, and 1 life, which would otherwise be left undisturbed, ruined or taken. How do you feel about that?
Europe cannot take everyone in, they have to fix their own problems, they can also escape war into any number of other countries or regions inside Africa itself.
No contest. This was the best. Easily.
I really want to see this but DVD release isnt until March
anyone seen it yet?
