Was it good or was it shit?

Was it good or was it shit?

It was trash
>jumpscares
>running out in front of military trained people without getting shot several times
>muh love
>muh god
>muh everyone survives even after being let alone with their legs cut off for hours

>t. war veteran

The first part of the movie felt like one of those movies about famous singers that Dewy Cox parodied. Cheesy dialogue too.

Mel Gibson is a Hacksaw Ridge

Somehow got filed as kino when it's just a flick.

While serving with his platoon in 1944 on Guam and the Philippines, he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for aiding wounded soldiers under fire. During the Battle of Okinawa, he saved the lives of 75 wounded infantrymen[DTD 1] atop the Maeda Escarpment. Doss was wounded four times in Okinawa,[10] and was evacuated on May 21, 1945 aboard the USS Mercy.[11]

no where near as good as people say

Too many snyder slowmos filled with soldiers being blown with their ass up. Garfield's face and accent made him extremely punchable, but I understand that the real Doss was like that, still annoyed me.

I liked it a lot but what the fuck was up with the comedy
The comedy intentional or not ended up taking me out of the movie several times

I hope you have a nice day too user.

It's christian torture porn, just like Passion of Christ.

I thought it was a hilarious. Every character was so exaggerated and one-note, it was like a propaganda reel. A good ol' country boy who loves G-d, his family and his sweetheart. Then he meets up with his platoon, which is filled with people with literally one characteristic. One of them is short. One of them is full of themselves. One of them has a New York accent. And none of them ever flesh out beyond that.

Then comes the jarring second half where it goes from being boring and sentimental to being something directed by Eli Roth on one of his off days. Insane amounts of gore, people getting their faces blown off left and right, and that's it. That's the rest of the movie. You watch about 45 minutes of people dying and then the character leaves, being lowered off the ridge in a Jesus-like position, clutching his Bible while the sun shines in the background.

The guy was a gigantic faggot.

>men gibson

Instant shit

Goofiest war movie I've seen in a while. I'm almost tempted to call it a pastiche of 60's war movies with all their bullshit heroics and predictable moments, not to mention the ridiculous amount of Christianity. It would be easy to just call it a super stylized war movie if it didn't shove all this Saving Private Ryan knock off gore and suffering in your face, notched up to a ridiculous degree. And the action scenes are just "how can we rip this guy's body apart this time," which itself is hampered by all the CGI blood. And there's the objective, which is reachable by a single rope ladder everyone has to climb up. Running and shooting for no reason. Hipshotting everyone. Like Marvel made a WW2 movie.

I was also weirded out by the color editing. Everyone looks like a toy army man in these super green uniforms and helmets, and then they're all covered in blood and mud and shit. What symbolism.

Extremely baffling movie.

When is Hollywood gonna retire the 'exploding flamethrower tank' cliche? I fucking cringe every time it happens. Still loved it when the dude screams DIEEEEEEEE and fries dem nips good-o

A solid 8/10 from me

decent
6.5/10

>CGI blood
I thought Hollywood wised up and realized cgi blood looks like utter shit?

>I thought Hollywood wised up

lel

What you're describing sounds like an interesting war movie.
>literally one characteristic
that's kind of how you view people you don't know very well, which is the probably the case in a platoon of enlisted soldiers
>jarring second half
that's war, and the lack of narrative in that part just puts emphasis on his heroic acts

I really liked it but i was disappointed by how awful Teresa Palmer looks outside this movie.
It's a good enough Hollywood war movie that would sweep the Oscars if not for La La Land imo.

Enjoyed it for what it was worth

> all these autists calling it unrealistic
> its meant to be dramatic and over the top
> its a fucking movie not a documentary
