Are you FUCKING READY!?
Finally a true Lovecraftian horror film
Looks breddy gud. I'd pay to see it.
Cosmic horror is such a neglected genre, I'm hyped to see how this turns out.
Damn looks great, nothing like Stranger Things at all
>ywn eat her ass through her leggings
Yay another 80's revivalism film.
>Finally a true Lovecraftian horror film
BRAAAAAAAAAP

ILLUMINATTTI CONFIRMED
FARTPOSTERS NEED TO FUCKING DIE
why is Sup Forumseddit so obsessed with Lovecraft
Whats the sound they use in every dramatic trailer?
>scary!-fangoria
(Bwaaaa)
Don't know, but if you want a honest to god Cosmic Horror track look no further friend.
>admitting to going on Sup Forums
looks kinda interesting desu.
It got pretty dismal reviews on IMDB 5 out of 10 is pretty shit.
looks fucking AWESOME
BRRRAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPfffffffffftttttttttttttssshhhhh
dont trust imdb ratings son
plebs gonna pleb
how come lovecraft fags always use every opportunity they can get to remind me that they are a lovecraft fag
Horror movies are difficult for must critics to review, they're usually at least 2 standard deviations higher than the imdb rating.
NOT ALWAYS but USUALLY
Saw it at Toronto After Dark.
It was pretty good. Nice practical effects.
undertumblr tier fanbase that saw a rylai speak meme and pretended it was a masterpiece to fit in
Cosmic horror you say?
Serious question: Has Lovecraft ever been done well in a film setting?
Off the top of my head I can think of a few "lovecraft-inspired" films but none of them really struck out as really good.
>Dagon
Contrived, stupid ass ending
>Reanimator
Some plot-holes, decent overall but it aged poorly
>Call of Cthulhu
kill me now
I thought they hated him because he was a racist or something?
End of Evangelion
Mouth of Madness is dripping with Lovecraft.
fucking shit posted the wrong video
youtube.com
Ellen plays qt student nurse.
Saw her at Scott Pilgrim premiere.
>Lovecraftian
>>modern-day setting
why
>shit ratings
>people on Sup Forums pretend to like it just to be contrarian
erry time
eh, I'll watch it. Not like I got anything better to do
Will be added to the list
Almost like IMDB ratings are meaningless
Will this be like Dawn of the Dead? A small group of people trying to survive in one place?
my favorite kind of comfy desu
Also go watch In the Mouth of Madness from Carpenter
What's the Japanese movie next to Cube Zero?
Yes.
A Hospital.
It's an open Emergency room in a Hospital that is relocating after a fire.
saying nothing more.
As the Gods Will
It's generic but hilariously weird
Okay this works but it's not a film. Good one though, user.
Strongly considering watching it now based on the audience RT score. Is it worth?
End of Evangelion really isn't Lovecraftian. It's much more Arthur C. Clarke.
lmao this looks like utter shit
you plebs will never learn
>It's much more Arthur C. Clarke.
Eh, Clarke plots are more on the Hard Sci-fi side of things with a couple of truly sci-fi elements. But the context is always kind of rooted in reality.
like 4/5 of this is literal trash my man
Quick question.
Would this be considered Cosmic Horror?
The ending makes me feel funny
I like that poster
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
>fma
Are you serious? Cosmic Core?
>m-muh truth! muh door!
Whoa they're finally making a movies about your mum's pus?
>Meeting God/the meaning of existence
>Not cosmicy
I'm probably the worst person to ask but I didn't like it the first time. I *did* the 2nd and the third.
>I didn't like it the first time. I *did* the 2nd and the third.
How come? And can other anons else chime in on whether "Mouth of Madness" is good?
I liked it but haven't seen it in years. Not Sam Neils best, and the effects prob have not held up for shit, but I'd say give it a run user
His Mouth of Madness film is pretty comfy Lovecraftian too
Starting it now. Hoping it holds up after 20 years
This re-scored trailer looks nice.
Mouth of Madness is truly patrician, user. It's Sam Neill without being Possession. It's Carpenter without being The Thing. I'm really quite knowledgeable about films and have developed an incredibly refined taste over several years of viewing the best of the best. If I have one contribution to this board, hell, society, it is recommending this underrated rare kino.
Most horror is a passion thing. I love horror as it is what got me into movies. Unfortunately most horror is rated low. As most people think horror needs to be campy in order to be viable. As a fan I think that I cant really be scared by it anymore. Unless is something like Green room which is more based in reality. So look at it as a dark fantasy rather then horror and you will get more enjoyment out of it. Naturally Lovecraft shit falls in this category. More Sam Neill horror would be event horizon. Side question, is this Paul w.s. Anderson's best film? Also just my opinion: any horror above a 6 on imdb is "worth" a watch. Assuming you are a fan of horror.
The Thing's not really Lovecraft. It's understandable and it can be stopped.
The first time I wasn't into it and the second I actually gave it a shot.
As said here not Sam Neils best but it's a pretty good film.
I kinda agree with this guy.
>mfw it's an anthology
>interstellar
>cabin in the woods
>lucy
>transcendence
>FMA
wew lad
BROOOOP
You're missing Beyond the Black Rainbow which is probably better than most of that list.
mouth of madness is good stuff
imdb ratings are more pleb-tier than netflix ratings ffs
Nope.
???
>Not True Detective
Delete this image from your hard drive and proceed to hang yourself
They got the description mixed up with some other movie called The Void coming out the same year.
Can anyone rec me movies like this? I would say I'm looking for Event Horizon, but, like, not shit
Reminder that the makers of The Void, also made these:

Ah what a relief.
Fuck this is awesome!
7/10 trailer, will watch, dubs
>I've never read a lovecraft book in my life
ftfy
Thanks for the new waifu faggot
True Detective season 1 is the only thing ive seen that feels really Lovecraft through and through. Its not about the gore and the tentacles and the effects.
oh...
Can someone define "cosmic horror" or "lovecraftian horror"?
I hear these buzzwords thrown around a lot.
Is it something like, horror based on a plane of reality that can't be comprehended by the human mind? Like a 4th dimension?
I'm this user
Done.
Just finished "In the Mouth of Madness." I thoroughly enjoyed it. Solid 8/10 movie.
Cosmic as fuck
That's one way to describe it.
great trailer
but im tired of the BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaahhh
and the little violin chord they actually used inbetween BWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHs
it works though.
Well shit... now I'm fucking hyped
Stealth sequel to Autopsy of Jane Doe
>my name is manborg
>whole flick is terrible greenscreen
>looks like uwe boll makes mortal kombat
>I'd rather be dead
lmao
Yes. This sort of follows a cop and is (as I said) centred around a limited group in a semi-functioning hospital. (as I said above)
this
this is body horror, not cosmic horror
That video is fucking horrifying
Well ... Now I'm super hyped for it. Father's Day was great.
>white male privilege
>all these pseuds using the adjective "lovecraftian" unironically
just stop.
looks pretty good so far
I just hope they release this in my country
>cheeky shitposting aussie sidekick
FUCKING YES
>Antiquarian writing style. Even when dealing with up-to-date technology, Lovecraft tended to use anachronisms as well as old-fashioned words when dealing with such things. For example, he used the term "man of science" rather than the modern word, "scientist" and often spelled "show" as "shew" and "lantern" as "lanthorne."
sounds like a fucking fedora-wearing faggot to me
