I heard about an American friend talk about when he got locked up. He was from Ohio, and most of his other inmates were white men who couldn't afford to pay child support. Many had lost their jobs, and their girlfriends and wives had started doing drugs and sleeping with others to finance it. Then they were thrown into a system which made it even harder to get work when they was released, many killed themselves.
