too repetitive, although I'm rooting for it to win cinematography. read the book for the best "silence" experience

Is it bad that I was rooting for the Japanese to weed these annoying missionaries out of their country?

Yeah, he's obviously not the audience for this

Silence is interesting, and it's more of a classical Tragedy than his recent works, because it concerns a man with a goal that is larger than himself. Usually Scorsese tells us about self-interested characters and then asks us to interpret their lives as though it could have been a tragedy... I felt relieved that we weren't seeing that here.

I haven't seen it because I know I will feel the same way. Is it still worth watching?

lol geting mad at how i type on a net site for kinos get over urself like i give a fuck how i type or what somone geting mad over nothing thinks.

Masashiro Shinoda did a better movie from the same novel.

You are all just plebs thinking Scorsese was first but was just ripping off another asian kino like Infernal Affairs trying to oscar bait, but this time they caught their lies. He just needs to finish The Irishman with Netflix and retire.

pathetic that you are a newfag

>We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

Can anyone direct me to an Aristotelian reading of Scorsese? en.m.wikiquote.org/wiki/Aristotle#

Why do some Scorsese films concern routines, or repetition, while others contain a lot of variety?

because he likes to do something different. change it up.

U wot m8?

sorry you contrarian christfag, you're not special and your god isn't real. The more "spiritual" a scorsese movie is, the worse it gets, because he doesn't know how to make a movie that isn't character driven.

I thought it was his best since Goodfellas.
It reminded me of Bergman.

>tfw Miles Ahead will get absolutely no recognition despite being better directed, performed and shot than the majority of movies on the noms

Enjoyed Silence more then Taxi Driver, Wolf of Wall Street and Departed.
