Sometimes when when you reach a certain weight you just can't lose it anymore. It's stuck on you. You have to do some sort of drastic exercise regime or expensive dangerous surgery.

The endorphins generated by running displace the endorphins you're getting from sugar/salt carbs.

Start slow. Don't push too hard. The point is it should feel good.

Eventually the burn + pain + pushing hard will feel good. Right now, endorphins generated by walking.

Dude don't go from nothing to running. Start with taking long walks, 30-60 minutes every other day. Cut your food portions by a third.

I got fitter by simply going to the gym without drastically changing my eating habits.

Right now he's eating to get endorphins from food.

Exercise replaces food endorphins with body-produced endorphins.

That's why long distance runners have gaunt faces.

They just stop eating, because their endorphins are coming from running, so they stop wanting food.

It's calories in minus calories out you idiot. Eat less calories than your body burns and you'll lose weight. You use exercise to help achieve that, and for overall health.

Naw, you're wrong bro. The only difference is that it'll take more time. If a 400 pound person wants to be skinny it will probably take a couple years to do it healthily, but good diet is all you need. It's not easy psychologically, but you don't need a special regimen.

But as soon as I saw I was nearing 200 (which isn't even that terrible for 6'1") I got my ass to the gym. How does one allow themselves to reach landwhale status before they acknowledge they have a problem?

This, I still drink beer all the time and eat shit food, but gym works wonders. Of course that doesn't mean you can stuff your face with pizza and ice cream all day.
