Hey guise, I made a new modern Ferrari logo.
Looks way cooler than the old boring one, amirite?

>Not including Emilia getting railed in the background on one of the boats

Also how many threads did we get through today?

hmmmm the new F1 logo reminds me of something, but i can't remember what exactly...

Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that I was right?

It's a good start but it needs even more of them wipe out aesthetics

ONLY THREE (3) SEATS LEFT. WHO GETS THEM?

>Sauber 1

going to go ahead and get the obvious predictions out of the way

I meant it more as "IF he doesnt win one" but yeah I guess I got exposed there for not having faith in him

my way of thinking. however it think it should just like current ers. that is, it's activated all the time, and driver should not have direct control besides choosing different modes
you seem to forget that:
-spec active suspension was considered some time ago (as it would reduce costs by not producing fuckhuge amount of custom springs for every race)
-active aero would mean freeing up resources at bigger teams, because teams wouldn't be spending infinite amount of money to design winglet #1994 that provides 3kg of downforce at 180kph while making 4.5G turn

it just wouldn't make any sense to design super complex wings, while teams with 6-8 times smaller budget could achieve same nearly the same laptimes by changing several settings

Not really for Ricciardo had particularly lucky races and most Verstappen DNF's were while he was in front of Ricciardo, even podium positions and Ricciardo's weren't.
Either way, blind fandom is cancer and you gimmick is cancer too. It would honestly be better for the thread if you dropped it. You could have as many input and (you)'s if you tried a bit harder on your posts.

seems about right

The more I look at the logo, the more I see "A1".

Reminder about the new graphics

Post yfw Liberty is secretly controlled by the owners of A1 Grand Prix

I unironically like the new logo better than the old one. At first I was against it and I think Liberty a shit in general but now the old one looks dated, like it was made in the early 90s or something.

Also the halo could potentially look kind of cool, everyone is judging it on the ugly black prototype but it isn't going to look like that.

90% of my fourchinn posts are talking complete shit for (You)s but I am totally serious this time, in 5 years time everyone will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Agree with the logo, don't agree with the halo.

I only like the new logo in the context of the whole rebranding where it clearly fits. That also causes me to not mind the Halo at all because the rebranding is the signal that the sport I liked is dead and moving forward this is nu-F1.

Liberty want to and are gonna do whatever they fucking want.

I have 67 years of F1 to enjoy and can move onto a new series.
Formula E is unironically looking alright.

So, /f1/ will probably have a really dead summer unless Henno 2.0 happens.
There will of course be more F1 rumours popping up, I expect quite a few.
Next event of consquence is the Daytona 24hr.
After that is Bathurst 12hr.
Then testing.

I'm undecided whether or not the halo could look good, but even at worst it won't be 1/10th as bad as everyone seems to think.

That's what I don't like about it. If it was a change in logo and some annoying social media bullshit that we don't have to pay any attention to and they leave it at that then it's OK. If they U S A the whole thing up and make it like Austin was this year then F1 is dead to me and I will just stick to Formula E and V8 Supercars.

>summer

Don't you try and apply your Australian seasons on us.

Dead summer for me too

Working as intended.

Yeah but your paraguay

How long before the first off-season thread dies?

What big sporting events have we got coming up to worry about?

The summer was fine before henno shit started.
When's the owl? That's summer right?

FE next weekend.

Ok guise can someone help me out. I understand how an interval works but how can the guy in 6th place be at +21s while the guy in 7th is +1s? I don't quite understand can someone fill me in?
Inb4 ameritard

>Formula E
>clean, green, efficient future racing series
>literally have to make double the number of cars

This is the major sticking point to me. They need to figure out some way to change out the battery in the pit stop instead of swapping cars.

At my old job we had an electric forklift with a battery which weighed more than a tonne and we could change it out in about 30 seconds if we had to, you just uplugged it and pushed it off onto these roller things.

There is absolutely no reason why they couldn't do the same with FE cars.

A potential future for electric cars is that instead of charging stations you have battery stations, you pull up and roll out your battery pack and switch it for a new, fully charged one. The only thing it would require is a few standarized batteries which manufacturers could agree on.

This seems unlikely atm since everyone is insistent on going their own direction, but FE could act as a catalyst when everyone sees how quick and efficient switching the batteries instead of having to charge them in the car could be. It could be changing the world and showing everyone how viable this new technology really is, but instead they are doing the opposite by showing that you need two totally separate cars just to finish a slow and relatively short motor race.

>Force India

+21s to the car ahead of him not to race leader

that's the gap between each car. 6th is 21s off 5th, 7th is 1s off 6th.

>estupida americANO jajajajajaja

The guy in 7th is +1s to the guy in 6th who is +21s to the guy in 5th

They switch the intervals from based on the leader to based on the guy in front throughout the race

Leader based
1st Bot
2nd Vet +1s
3rd Ham +5s
4th Hul +12s

Next guy based
1st Bot
2nd Vet +1s
3rd Ham +4s
4th Hul +7s

sixth is +21s off fifth and guy in seventh is +1s off the guy in sixth, that's intervals to adjacent racers
to leader would be the one thats ij proper order

Appreciate it friends thanks

>race is at 4am for me
Time to stay up all night
And don't forget the WTCC finale on Friday

The year after next they switch to a new battery and will not swap the car.

forklifts don't crash into concrete walls at 150km/h

Car swaps are gone season after this one when they get the new battery.

Battery swapping would make more sense for a Le Mans entry.

No problem friend, just kidding about the estupida thing hehe, just practicing my mexican.

That's good, but I still think changing the batteries would be cool just to have a pitstop for some interest and also the reasons I stated in my original comment. Do you know what they are going to do about pit stops? Mandatory tyre change or what?

It's not exactly the toughest engineering challenge of all time to do it safely. If for whatever reason they had to change the entire fuel cell in the middle of a race I'm sure they could've figured a safe way to do that by now.

Also this. Hopefully someone starts looking in that direction.

I don't think they've decided. With the new battery the cars don't need pit stops and the tyres are hard enough that you don't get much from changing them either. I read something about them wanting to keep something like a mandatory pit stop so you've still got something but I don't think anything's concrete.

They haven't come up with any defined rule.

They don't want to do the mandatory tyre change because it means bringing a load of extra gear for really no reason. The tyres don't wear.

They said they might treat it like the joker lap from Rallycross where you have to make it at some point.

They also briefly mentioned the idea that drivers could be given the option to pit and that when pit you get additional power to go faster in the race.
They didn't make it clear whether that was actually recharging the batteries or just giving you access to power like the fanboost

I assume they would just change the tyres so they degrade quicker.

Alright thanks dudes

>Schumi Literally On Fire
>Last Race In Austria Until 2014

That's not very green.

What actually does happen to race tyres after they're spent? Can you do anything with the remaining rubber?

Recycle like normal tyres

Pirelli do it for the literal 1000's of tyres they don't use over a season.

They get recycled by the manufacturer

>Pirelli’s ‘green technology’ programme, commits the Italian manufacturer to an increased level of respect for the environment. Part of this commitment also involves the ecological disposal of the thousands of tyres supplied to F1’s 19 grands prix. All of the tyres are transported back to Pirelli’s engineering and logistics hub at Didcot after each race weekend, where they are finely shredded, along with other road car tyres.

>The shredded tyres form small pellets, which are then burnt at extremely high temperatures as fuel for cement factories. These extremely high temperatures, in excess of 1500 degrees centigrade, mean that no noxious fumes are released and the only particles that remain are very fine, non-poisonous, ash.

>Pirelli has been using this technology since 2002 in Italy, and also used it throughout since its return to single-seater competitions in 2010. In total, Pirelli will dispose of up to 80,000 competition tyres this year using this method – which has been adopted as well in other countries throughout the world.

is this why they get so pissy over donuts?

Nah that is because the teams don't want to stress the engine.

White trash do doughnuts

This is the first time I've actually seen a toothpaste put a coherent and structured reply. I am surprised

Yeah that is a good point, they have to do something though.

He's vying for an Indycar ride isn't he?
Indycar has a vested interest in getting him in a car too in order to make their proposed Mexico GP a success.(It's meant to take WEC spot at Hermanos)
His only full time option right now is at Dale Coyne, which is a solid contender as of 2018.

Those Indycars actually look fuckin cool. F1 cars a shit atm.

is that street circuit spec? looks fucking awesome, I might watch your league

They're a little long, Here's a slightly edited F1 car. I think they can look good.
It's a lot of fun, cheers.

Yeah they're not as aesthetic from the side.

What did Lewis Hamilton mean by this?

...

Based Williams mechanics literally bullying Ted.

Putting the date a "celebrity" started following you has to be the saddest thing I've seen all year.

Reckon she put her finger up his bum?

who's Hamilton's lady?

He was trying to be gangster

Also he probably wouldn't feel a finger.

ham looks so salty he didn't finish with a win

You can see her fist I'm afraid

Maybe it wasn't only a finger, and maybe this was taken just before she put it in...

The AI is no worse than some F1 drivers.
I figured they would have had tyre sensors on already but they also said that no engineer is willing to ride in it while it goes on a full power lap. Guy was the first.
Guess they haven't figured out how to translate knowing the tyres are cold to how the car should react.

To be honest, I am kind looking forward to Roborace in the same way with Formula E. It's just really interesting.

I do like the idea of Robot Wars AI driving edition.
Though it might start off pretty shitty.

They have to be stopped next year. Ferrari has to do it. They just simply have to stop them. I didn't think they'd be good this year desu, but I jumped on the hype train as it left the station. Next years car will be better, but save for the engine they had the better chassis. It's a tall order to try and make more power than Mercedes, but they will surely get close.

lol

Decided I'm gonna attend the Australian GP next year. Anyone who's done it have any tips or what the experience is like? Can't see myself going for a whole weekend but maybe for the race, or qualifying if race is too expensive

Who got the US broadcast rights again?

We didn't bother with anything other than qually and the race as it was a lads weekend, so plenty of mischief to be had around town without getting gouged to fuck by on track prices for everything.
