MORE ESPN LAYOFFS COMING

JUST

Hopefully Jemele is one of them

JUST who exactly gives a shit?

>the shantytown of ESPN

but with more layoffs, the programming gets worse, the viewership goes down, and more layoffs are looming.

the next round of tv contracts for the NCAA conferences are not going to be what the NCAA thinks they should be.

ESPN isnt going to be spending millions on those contracts anymore

Yeah everytime I see Jemelle and the other guy she's with in interviews I immediately stop the video. She always tries to push a political agenda on sports. Never understood why.

>no on air talent

so it's nothing

college sports is a massive bubble wouldn't be surprised if it was 75% haircuts in everything

fs1 >>> espn

Not when your key shows are all ESPN ripoffs with former ESPN bit players. Can’t believe they were so desperate they gave Nick Wright a show.

i doubt anyone's surprised. this is what happens when a sports network doesn't really talk about sports

There was an article that was shared a while back that explained how ESPN's entire business model is getting people who don't watch their channel to pay for it.

>Guys, we need to lay off some people. We're hemorrhaging money
>I Agree. Should we fire on of the twenty reporters following Kaepernick?
>No
>How about the reporter dedicated to Strocking Lebron's Ego?
>No, not him either.
>How about the people who actually make running a television network possible?
>Perfect.

the fuck is this? looks just like her.

>former ESPN bit players
If by that you mean the only people on ESPN who were even somewhat watchable, then yes, that is what FS1 is

How did they end up hiring so many people they didn't need? They have got rid of 100s and everything continues as normal. Clearly they were grossly overstaffed.

Bye bye white people. Your privileges end today.

>implying all niggers don't look the same

go to a zoo and try to identify the different monkies, good luck

They probably thought they would expand their brand into social media, online reporting, and to cover all the new TV contracts they had acquired but they spent too much money and have to make deep cuts.

>but with more layoffs, the programming gets worse

Nonsense, the programming on ESPN is shit because management decided that an all-sports channel ought to cater to bat-shit crazy Leftist SJWs, who don’t watch sports….

Who is this Matt Lauer guy who got fired today, much to the amusement of Donald Trump?

Was he on ESPN?

>fs1 literally has michael vick and richie incognito on their shows

what did they mean by this?

>firing people a month before christmas for the second year in a row
The absolute state of the mouse

We're gonna get even more ooga booga shows for nobody to watch. Then when the ratings are shit because nobody wants to watch, blame white people.

this

nick wright's show is comfy if you ignore the ledicksucking

>try to force white owners to give kapernick a job after he opts out of his contract and becomes a bum
>try to force white viewers to watch BLTSPN after they commit network suicide chasing an uninterested demographic

I can't wait

>the viewership goes down

that is going down regardless

>the fuck is this?
The Grande Hotel of Beira, Mozambique

don't forget to watch generic super hero movie 20 and that franchise from the 70s we are milking with fake nostalgia, coming soon to a theater near you

at least ESPN will eventually be rebranded as ABC Sports

Half of it is people they keep on just so they don't go somewhere else to outcompete ESPN. The other half is people hired thru cronyism who do absolutely no work.

Nah he was just a morning tv talk show host.

Fox and CBS will start bidding for a lot more College Sports. Interestingly enough, I think beIn is the real winner here. They'll be able to pick up a lot more games in the college football market and eventually monopolize FCS at the very least.

>my local espn station just changed to Fox Sports 1 radio

SUCK IT LIBS. MAGA/

CSCUKN cuck again, cuck.

Ratings were falling well before the Trump administration

Oh, you know why...

ESPN made it's name on college basketball in the 80s and football in the 90s, its the only thing they still cover well (even though their top "expert" for College Football is some broad)

I think they'll be fine as long as they cover College Sports continually. CFB and CBB by ESPN is usually pretty good, barring a few individuals.

ESPN fucked up by paying WAY too much for MNF and buying in to the personality cults surrounding players in the NBA and NFL. They also neglected the NHL, MLB, and all soccer leagues (specifically, they should have jumped on the EPL much sooner). It's really easy to look back and see where they made their mistakes.

I wager there will be thorough article about racial injustice in sports this week on ESPN.com while there is little to no coverage of any sports ESPN doesn’t have broadcast rights to.

>start cutting back Baseball coverage around 3-4 years ago
>apehoop and NFL get 24/7 coverage because they have the rights
>stop watching completely around this time
The NBA sucks who the fuck wants to watch constant coverage of that? The NFL I can somewhat understand but Basketball is terrible

Yeah, banking on the NBA and overpaying for NFL is definitely what ruined it.

kek

but it also makes me sad

I like that nick wright admits when he's wrong. usually disagree with him but I hardly see any type of journalist say that, let alone a sports journo

something I never understand - why do networks even hire people who never played? seems egregious. On a lot of shows there will be one former player and one journalist, but I always respect the opinion of the former player more because he'll draw on experience to make conclusions. Is this just me? Seems like a retardedly shortsighted decision.

its funny cause its the opposite in europe. ex-pros are seen as idiots who cant analyze things critically, and when they do speak on tv they usually get widely mocked.

>would be better than real ESPN now

>The day that ESPN became The Ocho
>Showed Dodgeball at 3 AM CT rather than during Primetime

Even when they try to be fun they fuck it up.

Maybe if their actual sports coverage wasn't 99% niggerball highlights (even during the offseason) people would actually watch.

>the socialists continue to cannibalize each other

I saw this happen first hand on Facebook. I know a black guy who's a comedian in NYC and his whole gimmick is SJW comedy. In fact, there was an article written about him recently describing his comedy as "woke". Cringeworthy shit. All of his jokes are basically twitter-tier "WHITE PEOPLE, AM I RIGHT?" and "BLACK PEOPLE DRIVE LIKE THIS, WHITE PEOPLE DRIVE LIKE THIS" trash. If he weren't a black guy, people would just straight up ignore his shit or brush it off as semi-racist.

Anyways, recently with the whole wave of sexual assault allegations, he wrote an article basically saying "I DINDU NUFFIN" and posted it on Facebook. Needless to say, the comments section is full of feminazi's bashing him for being a male and liberals exclaiming how he's being problematic, etc. etc. who fucking knows.

Liberals love to complain, even more than Alt-Right incels. Liberals and socialists fucking THRIVE off of tearing everything down. Nothing is ever not problematic, everything is unjust, nothing is fair. "Liberalism is a disease" isn't far off. Once you start pandering to liberals, you've already lost, because they won't think twice about fucking you over and throwing you in the trash.

>tfw you remember when you used to come home from practice
>drinking glass bottle gatorade
>and watch sportscenter with Dan Patrick with your dad

>turn on ESPN
>they are talking sports
>no one is yelling
>everything isnt hip hop that was on the radio years ago

ree harder tubby

used to watch inline hockey with a ball in an outdoor rink right on the beach somewhere in southern california during a summer or 2 during the mid to late 90's during July/August.

Shit was so cash to come in from 3 hours of street hockey for lunch and turn the tube on to this all sweaty and shit

>$0.02 was deposited in your account

>mfw I realize espn has over 150 employees

>unironically watching gringo ESPN

...

>>>Sup Forums

>Michael Kay gets laid off right before the Sports Pope retires

>jamele and Beadle will sadly not get fired yet again

Can't wait to here more about evil white trump and how someone needs to give kapernick a job or you're a racist

yeah they bundle them together when you buy channels. They do that stuff here too.

some people mentioned the NFL and NBA 24/7 coverage and that isn't the problem with me per se, it's the coverage of both of those sports 24/7 even in the fucking OFFSEASON.. fuck sake, and baseball which on a local level has been growing.. it may not be a national sport but they just said fuck them, unless it's yankees red sox coverage. thank god for mlb network

They went all in on shaming white people and spinning everything into "poor black people" and "evil white trump" shockingly nobody wants to see that shit ON A GODDAMN SPORTS NETWORK!!

Mike's last laugh

>the replacements will be a 2 woman+peter rosenberg cast

Are they ran by little monkeys?? What business strategy says "keep pushing things people dont want even if it costs you lots of money and ruins your reputation"

This will all be worth it if I get to hear "the thrill of victory... and the agony of defeat" during the intro for their live coverage again. Wide World of Sports was comfy af.

Even then it was still pretty great. It was like going back to my childhood when that's basically what ESPN2 was for. You'd stay up late and instead of having reruns of SportsCenter or the same episode of Outside the Lines seven times in a row you'd get to watch weird shit like old World's Strongest Man competitions from the early 80s. It was basically Cheap Seats but completely serious.

He's a house-elf

Bring Clayton back

Any names yet?

Used to do that bundling shit in Canada, too.

Nah guy in Venezuela we aren't as race obsessed as you ameribros are. We only hate specific people from countries that decide to move here. I.E Colombians

>MORE ESPN LAYOFFS COMING
Maybe if they stopped injecting politics into sports more viewers would stick around.
Just like the NFL, they're fucking themselves.
Liberalism is truly a mental disorder

ESPN 2 used to be a pretty good indicator of how late I stayed out on a work night.
I come in around 3 or 4 a.m. and they'd be 2 white guys boxing.

THIS IS A PART OF THE PLAN, CUPCAKE.

I like this guy

i'm still praying for herbstreit to be one of the lucky few to be let go

Kenny Mayne is the next Matt Lauer

I miss Adriana, she has a nice ass

I've been saying for months now that these layoffs ARE NOT THE RESULT OF POLITICS, it's cord-cutters, cord-cutters, cord-cutters, when will you spergs ever learn?

They made most of their money originally off college programming, you would think they would focus more on that instead of wasting their money on shit-tier NFL and niche NBA (because let's be honest, a large number of people in the US don't give two shits about the NBA until the finals).

Why relegate your most loyal fanbase (college) to third-tier ESPNU? It's insulting.

You seem a little butthurt Jemele

It's really not any better. They just gave Le Black Lives Matter Lebron man his own show with Chris Carter.

Jaylin and Jacoby on ESPN radio have a "Women only Wednesday". Fine. Good idea even. However, they should call it "Call in and tell us how long you've been married and how many kids you have and whether or not you get enough respect from the men in your life BUT DO NOT MENTION SPORTS IN ANY WAY - Wednesday"

>BUT DO NOT MENTION SPORTS IN ANY WAY
So they follow the rules of the rest of ESPN then

A strategy that dictates that you literally subsidize propaganda in the name of advancing your political agenda.

It was never about profit, always progress for them.

Hey guys, did you know that you are actually able to call your cable company and specifically ask them to cancel only ESPN but keep the rest of your cable package?

Yeah but the only legitimately popular sport in Europe is very easy to digest. Analysis of soccer doesn't require experience in the way football or hockey or even basketball and baseball require.

Christ.... this site really started to suck after Sup Forums exploded with reddit. Gtfo this is a fucking sports board in a thread about espn and you just posted that shit. You politically obsessed faggots are so so thin skinned and pathetic. Just go back to your containment zone

Anyone wanna do favorite ESJWPN moment?? I quit watching sportsnation because Michelle Beadle said "if you have any problem at all with kneeling for the anthem you are a racist" completely forgetting that there are blacks and Mexicans who have a problem with the kneeling. But im sure CNN never showed other races besides whites having a problem with the kneeling. So I can't completely fault Beadle.

No I don't. because see, I don't enjoy talking head shows, so I choose not to watch ESPN outside of live sports, just like how I don't watch any cable news channels that everyone complains about because it's all utter trash.

Maybe you'll do the same when you grow up.

>lets have a day devoted to nothing but women on are all sports talk show

How fucking stupid do you have to be to not only pitch that idea but also to approve it

Completely agree.
>le omg i hate this and that
Then don't fucking watch it you literal retard. I only watch live sports and sometimes local news

To be fair this is before I realized how bad it had gotten with all the political stuff. Plus being half black myself and against the kneeling. It was a huge slap in the face personally.

>Plus being half black myself and against the kneeling. It was a huge slap in the face personally.
As if being half black isn't enough of a slap in the face?

hhahahahahah le nigger amirite XD MAGA MAGA MAGA

it really astounds me how people can hate ESPN so much and claim they haven't watched in years, yet have such strong opinions about everything on the network

it's even funnier to see the complete fucking mongoloids who think ESPN's obsession with politics is what made them tank in revenue. yeah, totally.

it isn't like cordcutting being a national phenomenon, every other network is experiencing the same losses but a headline of "food network loses 600k subscribers last year" wouldnt get any page views, and having to pay a shit-ton for sports rights to air that you have to overpay for because without them no one would watch your network. yeah, totally isn't any of those. it's all because they talk about liberal politics.

Yep cable is dead and some networks are less adaptable. Nobody is going to pay money to listen to their talking heads say stupid bullshit. There is so much sports media online espn is pointless whenever it isnt broadcasting live sports
