Why were Americans so happy and sociable in the 80s, but now they're fat, miserable and non-white, and everyone hates each other?

They went from 75% to 50% white between then and now, so obviously the low birthrate of white people explain all those things

Because you're looking at a video of people in a well off upper middle class neighborhood, not Harlem during the height of the crack wars.

computers, videogames, smartphones etc

even nyc is much nicer now than the 80s
that's say alot

This happened all over Western countries not just USA. Joos did this

saying*

>Because you're looking at a video of people in a well off upper middle class neighborhood

Those people count too.

Watch some Ice Poseidon live streams. America is pretty much the same.

why do people make a big deal about this video? Go to any white area, affluent or not, and people will act this way

are you all such asocial losers?

How did everything go so wrong?

>another astute observation from our northern neighbors

you know why the simpsons became a global hit

because everyone called the american media 80s bs

if someone filmed you with their iphone how would you feel about it?
cameras were something special back then and most people in the video appear to be tipsy.

t. thinks the current political scene defines the cultural scene
Unless you go to some terrible inner city ghetto, Americans, white or nonwhite, are still just as wholesome. Some are some aren't, just because you saw one video of people being wholesome a while ago doesn't mean you should extrapolate so dramatically.

>if someone filmed you with their iphone how would you feel about it?

if someone were filming with an actual camera, I'd act similarly to people in the video. Filming with an iPhone is such a common and potentially mocking gesture that I don't think it's a fair comparison. It's easy to setup and ubiquitous where as an actual camcorder still is not

Take a video camera, go to a place with a lot of bars, like a college town or small resort like area (comparable to the one in the video) go into a Wawa, or something that probably isn't a 7/11 and you'll encounter people acting very similarly

Cocaine helps desu

that guy is off his tits on coke

is it legal to film a person (in public areas) if that said person tells you he'd not like to be filmed?

wow I hate America now

It isn't but you have to press charges for action to be taken

I have a better question
Why the fuck am I so god damn nostalgic about the 80s if I was born in 1993? The music, the style, the people, the technology - all this feel just so right.

ok

yeah nowadays it seems like everyone is out with their iphones shoving it in your face, goddamn I fucking hate filmers, hope they all fucking die, no offense man thank you for the info

Having a camcorder shoved in your face was probably a novel thing in 1987 and people treated it as an event which brought out the friendliness. Not so in 2017.

Probably because Russia was still a super power then.

Russia has never been more powerful than now.

They might have had more nukes and tanks but the West despised them.

The Internet has made the most radical elements more powerful than ever. Russia (or at least Russian geopolitics) has the support of both the far-left and far-right in the West. This is worth more than all the worlds nukes and tanks combined.

Same

>Why the fuck am I so god damn nostalgic about the 80s if I was born in 1993?
Because the 80s in the west happened in the 90s in Eastern Bloc.
We were always at least a decade behind

That's just because of capitalism....

Non-meme answer: they think they're going to be on TV or something. Normal people didn't own camera equipment back in the 80s and the they didn't go around recording strangers.

1. White's were still new to desegregation and not slapped with reality yet.
2. The cold war kept our govt's attention on attacking the USSR instead of the common Man.
3. 75%+ White
4. No cell phones, or computers meaning that people had to socialize.
5. More diversity shoved in your face makes people not trust each other. See: Bowling Alone by Putnam

No cellphone to give you constant addictive stimulation, so people felt the need to socialize. Things were much healthier and natural back then, people had to interact with each other and not with a LCD screen.
