so fucking pumped

Sure, Dune's great

>Genre fiction
Trash

the depiction of muslims and islam is very problematic. plus they will whitewash the casting. and don't even get me started on how it vilifies homosexual child abuse...

Denis Redditeuve better get the before cameras before BLADE RUNNER 2017 bombs.

DUNE?

Epic /lit/ roleplay, dude

Good Book, doubt the movie will be worth while

This is the sort of book that absolutely HAS to be broken into a trilogy, no way to get enough of it into 3 hours.

This, but unfortunately Dune is too nerdy to get the trilogy treatment. Meanwhile stuff that should have been a single movie like The Hobbit get split into 3 movies full of filler.

I feel like trilogy might be too much
Two long films would be better
Like +3hours

This, the problem with making it into a trilogy is that you'll have a big case of middle movie syndrome where nothing actually happens in build-up for the 3rd movie. The book was also broken up into 3 parts, in part 2 Paul basically just builds up his reputation with the Fremen while he thinks a lot about prescience and fatalism.

...

Part 2 is when most of the character development happens and Frank Herbert introduces the core theme of the whole book series with mankind's instinctual drive towards authoritarianism and hero worship.

So yeah, completely inappropriate for a Hollywood blockbuster

Man that porn game is off the fucking chain

Was he right

of course he was, the man was right about everything

I never read the books so my only knowledge of Dune was that godawful 80s abomination. Recently I have been seeing it pop up in "best science fiction movie" lists which is heresy. I remember watching it twice and wanting so much to like it. Hopefully they do something great this time and not Hobbit the thing up with fanfiction and CGI.

As a revolutionary leader Muad'Dib was right about everything, as emperor he was a big pussy who knew what he must do to save mankind but was too afraid to go for it. His son the OG God-Emperor Leto II had the balls to do what he didn't.

Fuck this takes me back, my very first and last blog was filled with Dune quotes. Pardot and Liet Kynes were literally me.

have fun bro

So consistent
Such first principles
Power=energy and Paul is disgusted by the Harkonnens because they are House Excess
Paul was such a judging hipster, anyone who wastes energy being inefficient was a plebe

Tbh the step between avenging your dad and becoming a human/worm hybrid doomed to live thousands of years, repressing and becoming hated by those in your dominion, unable to ever feel human closeness or even a part of the human race until the ghola of your former best friend (seeing as he has all the memories of Paul and Leto I) and mentor who you've tortured and killed for millennia just so he can one day succeed in trying to murder you is a big one
I feel like we can't really shit on Paul for not wanting to be that guy

It all comes down to ancestral memory. Paul merely adopted the genetic memories, Leto was born into them, mold by them and so on, he embraced the ancestral memories to the point where he's not a person in the classic sense of the word, he's a hive intelligence. It's that which allowed him to rule for 3.5 thousand years, he could always regress at will into his genetic memory and live out any experience he wants, effectively having his own personal Matrix letting him live out the memory of any person from Paul all the way back to pre-Homo Sapiens.

It wasn't becoming the worm that Paul feared, it was becoming God.

So does Duncan being the real true kwisatz haderach take a dump on all this
