Replace Coppola with Lynch, and you've got yourself a deal

All dead. How the fuck does Robert Altman make your top 3 if you're counting every American filmmaker who ever lived?

>Scorsese
Literally just a high-brow Tarantino.

They are most "european" of american directors. I don't include here Wilder, Capra, Houston... Cause they're do not represent much artistic value. Just pure hollywood entertainment.
I have a problem with Elia Kazan though...
Also Welles. Go rosebud yourselves.
Living directors?
Malick is a hack so fuck him.
For sure Scorsese. He's great.
I am not sure about PTA. Its just good production design and cinematography.

Is Welles worth including for the sole reason he created the greatest American film ever made? I am not familiar with the totality of his portfolio

>I am not sure about PTA. Its just good production design and cinematography.
I'm not sure about him either. I'm not a scholar of film but if a movie looks god damn amazing and makes you think a little bit, hasn't it succeeded entirely? I personally like a lot of the themes he tackles and I think he does a good job of tackling them.
