Za is no leader

Gareth's best kino ep.

Seriously who the fuck thought a giant wasp would be a good Monster? pathetic really.

Repost in new thread

Just downloaded doom coalition 1-4. Recently finished war doctor and was hugely disappointed. Should I even bother? Do I need to listen to river song series to get the whole story?

It's like that shitty episode where the monsters were giant porcelain doll. The writer inserted somthing they were scared of. It did not work

Doom Coalition is okay. It's worth a listen. Better than the War Doctor series.

Have you listened to Dark Eyes? That's the superior Eighth Doctor story.

This image is fucking triggering

Some species of bees and grasshoppers find wasps really scary. I'll bet it was a giant grasshopper.

Yeah I'm all caught up on the good shit

Are these the main 5 Matt Smith kino episodes?

>Vincent and The Doctor
>Padorica Opens/ Big Bang
>Doctor's Wife
>Good Man Goes To War
>Closing Time

>implying that Gareth doesn't get all of his story ideas from a giant grasshopper

actually replace Closing Time with God Complex, maybe Hide which is very underrated

Are you looking for recommendations because you haven't watched them, or looking for someone to validate your taste?

Well apparently kino is: ˈkēnō/
noun
a gum obtained from certain tropical trees by tapping, used locally as an astringent in medicine and in tanning.

So I guess the taste one?

The giant wasp is legitimately one of the best CGI creatures in Doctor Who. It moves around like a bug but they also gave it a good sense of weight. And there's a bit where its stinger taps the wall and it leaves a mark that struck me as really creepy. It's one of the highlights of series 4. It does get silly later in the episode when it starts talking and you find out that it killed a guy by hitting him with a pipe, but the scene where it attacks Donna is GOAT.

Is that the dark red stuff they put on wounds in BBC period-piece stories about the African colonies? If so, you obviously need The Lodger instead of Closing Time. If not, what you really want to do is count episodes that are amazing for the first 30 minutes but then fall apart, because that way you can leave the ends off and fit 50% more in.

validation, but secretly furthering my plot to destroy all credibility of RTD's writing

>secretly furthering my plot to destroy all credibility of RTD's writing
Ah, well, in that case you probably don't want to do the "keep the first 30 minutes" bit, because for Moff it's mostly only the finales that start off good then fall apart, but for RTD it happens all the time. On the other hand, it probably helps most of the 70s writers even more than RTD, so there's that.

It would make sense if we get the official trailer on Saturday because there will only be a little over a month til airing.

Which Doctors probably masturbated the most do you think?

3 or 8

Definitely 4.

10.. the man was a sexual predator

1
Time Lord puberty must last a lot

11 was definitely the horniest, literally smacked Clara on the ass like more than once

The only time 2's hand wasn't on Jamie's ass was when it was on Zoe's or Victoria's instead.

Matt is like that in real life. Apparently he was inappropriately hitting on Claire Foy during filming for the crown, even tho she was pregnant and is with someone.

Well, as long as you don't play a young Queen of England, you should be safe around him.

my friend made me show him a doctor who episode and I just gave him hide because I was watching it at the time and it got him hooked.
I think it's underrated indeed

Uh guys, Matt is leaving this year

bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-22741493

>Uh guys, Matt is leaving this year
He's leaving The Crown? Who's Philip going to regenerate into? I hope it's a woman; it's about time we had a lesbian Queen.

Bring back Lake

As our beloved Prince Consort the Duke of Edinburgh? Why, Morrissey hardly looks German at all, what kind of patriot are you?

How about this guy?

Yeah, I could see that.

I can't remember the last time I saw anyone enjoy smoking on TV as much as King George in The Crown. I guess they figured it wouldn't send a bad message, what with him dying of lung cancer? (Oops, spoilers.) But they're wrong; it really makes me want to smoke.

I hate wasps (and bees)

Slow day /who/?

Neither does Smith. Smith looks like a cro magnon Celtic Brit.

Did someone say Morrissey?

OK, why are Maxine Peake's odds for 13th Doctor getting better? She's tied with Tilda Swinton for second at some of the sites, and yet I've never heard a single person suggest her for the role. She's a fine actress, but I don't see anything Doctorish about her. Is there some role I missed that makes her make sense for the part?

Yeah, and you really notice it in the scenes where he's acting either super-stoic or whiny.

Doom Coalition 1-3 is shit other than Absent Friends as well as the War Doctor volumes all being trash.

Which is why it comes as a surprise that DC 4 is really fun and good and Ollistra is significantly less annoying and has a lot more characterisation thankfully because I was really bored to tears by her and the War Doctor's mechanical existence in the War Doctor volumes. The second episode is fun as fuck (surprisingly) and the River episode was written better than both Diaries and was actually quite amusing to hear River interact with Gallifrey, although the fact that Romana wasn't there was a bit disappointing. I'm presuming that the reason for her absence is whatever they're doing in Gallifrey 9.

I'd have loved to see some Narvin and Braxiatel too, just sayin' but it's really funny when people call her Cardinal Ollistra and she has the same reaction as when someone called Braxiatel Cardinal Braxiatel. Plus she's taking a definite but lighter leaf out of Brax's book in the Weeping Angel episode - y'know, Maximaderas - which I found hilariously endearing.

Audio made me feel bad for Volstrom who is clearly the punch bag of the audio in the same line as, although not as bad as Wynter. And the same line as Ryssal. Fuck, I felt bad for him getting tortured like that by the Eleven.. And in that same vein, the Eleven actually feels threatening for once as opposed to being the massive boring faggot that he was in all the other Doom Coalition episodes and together with Caleera they don't make the most boring villains ever to have existed in Big Finish anymore - they get handled much better I felt in this volume.

tl;dr Doom Coalition 4 is pretty good other than Padrac being a bit... well... cliched and feels a lot more Big Finish in terms of creativity and plot than either the other DC or the War Doctor or the River Song audios or the Tenth Doctor audios which were a bit shit.

Gallifrey has a definite presence in this audio. It felt a lot like the Gallifrey audios other than the absent Narvin/Braxiatel/Leela/Romana which I kind of miss a fucking lot.

*
Should add that the conclusion to DC4 is excellent and very satisfying.

Spoilers: Caleera = the Red Lady. Did not see that particular twist coming.

>The second episode is fun as fuck (surprisingly)
Should be the 'third episode' aka everyone has an agenda: the episode.

When will Gareth Roberts go to Obverse and start writing books about the Chelonians?

Yeah, 11 definitely the horniest.

She'd cost less than Swinton.

hello yes do you have any puzzle pieces for me?

Reminder that 12 made an internet history joke about his sonic sunglasses

I dunno. I can imagine 12 would be disgusted by sex. How primitive and backwards it is.

I'd cost less than Swinton too, but that doesn't mean I think they should cast me.

More to the point, I could probably name a dozen women and a dozen and a half men who would be cheaper than Swinton who I could see as the Doctor.

Is this some random slag?

What did he mean by this?

Nah, he'll just sell Obverse all his rights for a pint and then tell people who ask about Chelonians to go ask whoever runs whatever company it was and leave him alone, completing his descent into Milesdom.

Swinton would make a great Doctor unless they fucked up the script like Capaldi's.

Can somebody post the episode guide picture for the last season?

Swinton could be really good or really bad, depending on how they wrote her.

Most of the other candidates, it's a lot more obvious how to write for them, so there's less danger. Nobody's going to try to write Kris Marshall as a silent angry Doctor, or Olivia Colman or Richard Ayoade as an action hero, or Hayley Atwell as brooding and taciturn, or Rory Kinnear as a wacky goofball, etc.

Although, now that I think about it, there is a danger someone might write Richard Ayoade as Moss, isn't there…

Not sure whom this is or what this meme is about but I'm pretty sure it's going to rustle my autistic jimmies.
As interesting a choice Swinton would be, I think she'd be too high profile or desire too much flexibility in shooting schedules to be really feasible. She's got too great a film career for doctor who, that apparently takes all year to film and produce a 12/13 episode series. If the production schedule were more akin to something like Sherlock I think she'd be more likely logistically.

I wish there were more disgruntled Who writers who tried to make a franchise out of whatever characters they own. Like if Kate Orman made her own series of books revolving around Alvarez.

No, it'll be fine. Just like when one user argued with complete sincerity that James Corden could somehow both play the Doctor and host a daily talk show in America at the same time.

Franchises like Iris, Erimem, Lethbridge-Stewart, etc. are worth very little money. At least nowadays, it costs next to nothing to publish (thanks to ebooks and print on demand), but you still have to do a lot of work and get next to nothing back (and absolutely no prestige). So it's a labour of love someone can only do if they're making enough money somewhere else.

Except in rare cases like Benny, where Paul Cornell basically doesn't have to do anything because Virgin desperately wanted to continue the NAs without the Who license and Big Finish wanted to use it as a way to get started. But how often is that going to happen?

Well he could surely if he just cut out that carpool karaoke nonsense.
Speaking of late night talk show hosts and doctor who; Has anyone heard Craig Ferguson's new radio show? On another note in the same song, I'm seriously annoyed that PCaps never got an interview or an appearance with Craig after he became the doctor. I just want to see them geek out together about it so bad. Craig even had that panel show on the history channel(which is probably cancelled) that would have been perfect setting for the two of them to wax philosophical about time and history together.

>tfw you understand Listen
>tfw you understand Heaven Sent
>ttfw you understand A Star in Her Eye

It would really come down to Swinton deciding to give up doing any other major roles for three years in order to play the Doctor.

It wouldn't really hurt her future career, and she's said she has more money than she knows what to do with it (apparently a really good merch deal on Narnia, although I have no idea how anyone got rich off that franchise). So it's just a matter of the scripts she'd pass up during those three years.

And that all depends on if Swinton would want to be the Doctor. I haven't read a single interview where she expresses any interest in the show.

Well my take on swinto is that she's an "artist" you know? More interested in the variety and challenge of various roles etc. Mostly offbeat stuff of course, like doctor who. She'd almost certainly bring more fans than she'd chase away as the doctor, but her committing to the role or any reoccurring television role IMO is wishful thinking bordering on fantasy.

Lilly Collins.

>It's over, Doctor! Come out and face me! I want to see the light leave you eyes!

What did he mean by this?

That's what I would have thought too
but what did he mean by the internet history thing?

Agreed on her choices and her process.

But I don't think it's fantasy that she'd commit to the role. Not hugely likely, but not at all impossible. She signed on to an insane commitment for the Narnia series (although they didn't end up making as many movies as she signed up for), just because David Bowie told her she'd be perfect for the role. (Well, I'm sure she also read the script for the first one, but still.)

Of course there's no longer a David Bowie to tell her she'd be a perfect Doctor, and I don't know if there's anyone else out there who'd have that kind of effect on her…

>Not sure whom this is or what this meme is about but I'm pretty sure it's going to rustle my autistic jimmies.
He's the next doctor who

This supports my preposition that people who make unironic fan-films are mentally unstable.

You'd think that after the storm of people pushing her as the Doctor on Twitter shortly after the Capaldi announcement, someone would have asked her about it. But if anyone has, I haven't seen it. I have no idea what she even thinks of the show.

>$0 pledged
>of $200,000 goal

He hasn't made a fan film; he's trying to get the internet to buy him a $75K camera first.

And I think his problem has more to do with a learning disorder (or just stupidity) than with mental instability.

Hey, he got $57 out of $200,000 on his first attempt. Maybe he'll get as high as $85 this time. After all, this time, he's offering signed pictures instead of just thank-yous for donating.

This desu
From what I understand he went to one of those scam colleges that don't teach anything of value let alone prepare you for a real job

I feel like he's genuinely unaware of how unrealistic his goals are and what he would actually need to do to accomplish them at all

Well they were once talking about doing a soft reboot for a feature release in Cinema via BBCWorldwide. I think if they were to do a movie, and were determined to cast a female, she'd be my choice. I'd say she'd be most likely come to doctor who as a one off stunt casting thing like they did with Maisie Williams(but as a timelord) I still just don't see her doing saturday afternoon television for the BBC.
>RarityThatisMe
Is this guy a brony too? Who told him that pose and wardrobe were appropriate for anything? This is why autists need handlers, and I say this as an autist with a handler.
Also that sonic design is as shitty as capaldi's.

>From what I understand he went to one of those scam colleges
AI is kind of weird, in that some of their campuses have real, useful programs, which gives them an air of legitimacy, but the rest of their programs (which, at most campuses, means all of them) are completely useless.

>I feel like he's genuinely unaware of how unrealistic his goals are and what he would actually need to do to accomplish them at all
Well, yeah. Starting with the fact that he needs to know that what a production company does if you send them an unsolicited fan film is return it unopened…

oh nooooo

don't be mean cloi cloi
Having scoured his social media I've never seen any pony things. Going by his grasp of english it's entirely possible he actually means it in the sense that "I am a rarity"

If they're determined to do a movie, they need to license CGI Peter Cushing from Disney and do it right.

Maybe we can have CGI Carrie Fisher as the cute American companion.

he should just do gay porn

The Celestial Puzzle Maker

I'm not being mean. It's tough love. Perhaps you're right about his grasp of the language though. I mean he needs someone to tell him for instance like what that his goals are unrealistic for his own sake or to tell him the possible ramifications of pics like consequences being higher functioning autists taking the piss on a afganastanamation photocell forum etc
I'd see it before I see rogue 1 surely.

So he shaves his pits but not that stupid pedo stache? He'd fit right in with DWSR

Dr. Who and Daleks' Invasion Earth 200,100

Hollywood stuntman Jack (John Barrowman) goes to visit his sister Rose (Carrie Fisher) and her new husband, the eccentric Dr. Who (Peter Cushing), in England. But as he enters Tardis, it accidentally takes off to the year 200,500, and they soon find that Satellite 5 is controlled by the evil Daleks! Can the Doctor take down the Daleks again? Will Jack find love with Lynda-with-a-Y? Will all of them make it home?

Sending him the same thing in a message could be tough love. But talking about him on a board he's never visited isn't going to help him in any way, surely?

Whats with the talk about some announcement on Saturday? I've head nothing.

there's an announcement on saturday

The funny thing is, someone did try messaging him on the first try, but he was almost as clueless as Julio. He was more worried about why Julio wanted to spend $50K on a rendering workstation instead of building a network of a ton of beige-box machines to do it.

I suppose it could but I doubt it knowing how stubborn my people can be. I'm saying he needs someone in his actual life for guidance and to reign him in. I haven't a clue if he's inclined to visit Sup Forums or /who/, but if he did I'm sure /who/ would tell him to slow his roll when appropriate, as /who/ has done for me in the past.
I hear there's an announcement on saturday.

Fuckkk, just heard some info about the Christmas Special that's being announced on Saturday

Hint: it relates to the RTD era

...

>Whats with the talk about some announcement on Saturday? I've head nothing.
Hold on, if you haven't heard the talk, how do you know there's any talk?

Have you heard talk about talk about them announcing an announcement?

Nope
