However our perception of these things does.

There are different levels of understanding.
At level one, God, as a metaphysical principle, is perfect and complete; it contains the manifested and the non-manifested; it cannot be both good and bad because such concepts don't exist yet, if they would exist, then God would be divided - non-perfect; God is the One Truth.

A good first step is to try and be aware of the thoughts you are having, and try to insert some level of control on them.
for example: I reject this thought or I accept this thought. If you can do this enough then you will begin to see a change. Remember the first rule is the rule of Mentalism, everything is mental.
