Best watch ever. Why does the west still refuse to build things the superior soviet way?

Best watch ever. Why does the west still refuse to build things the superior soviet way?

actually I have one, makes me wonder why all hipsters have not bought one yet

It's too practical.

I wear mine with a nato strap, they are like AK47s.
Not the most accurate but can take some abuse

>not buying swiss or japanese

Yeah, same. The link strap that comes with them is apparently shit (never used it myself).

>being mainstream

>The link strap that comes with them is apparently shit (never used it myself).
the worst I have ever seen desu

I bet you can't put a swiss watch through hell and still have a functional watch.

> 2017
> mechanical watch

You like antique?

I wear Casio.
Those russian watches are useless and extremely expensive

i have some luch and slava

>extremely expensive
they are the least expensive mechanical watches on the market

Watches are not practical in this day and age. Aside from the elderly and people when they are hiking, going bush, etc., a watch is purely a fashion accessory.

I have bitch wrist . Anything bigger than a Seiko is too much for me.

>he don't wear a piece of technology than can be recharged with masturbation.

Those cheap Vostoks where fake ones.

>Those cheap Vostoks where fake ones.
no, they cost around 50-100€.

Japanese or Swiss MECHANICAL watches cost 10x

What you talking about?
My Seiko 5 did not cost that much...

Go buy a childish shitty watch like a limited edition gang rapper collab pink camo g-shock you ugly virgin justin bieber fan.

Mechanical watches have been the superior and matured choice and always will.

There was a time when digital watches didn't have the nerd stigma. In the beginning they were considered hi-tech and maskuline. Don't believe me? Just watch some old bond movies where Bond uses digital watches when they first became trendy.

英語で表現できないから日本語でごめん。

文化財や装飾品としての価値は機械式時計にあると思うけど、実用性は低いよね。1000円のチプカシのほうが精度が高いって言う。機械式は大体の場合、よくて5気圧防水だしね。

true, seiko builds cheap mechanical watches, too.
Seiko also builds high end mechanical watches like the Grand Seiko line

Still, Vostok offer

hand winding
rotor winding
20atm water proof
its own movement

for under 100€, hard to beat

My Rolex spent two weeks under nasty-ass water after hurricane Katrina and it worked just fine while looking only a little worse for wear. Seems plenty sturdy to me.

Russian watches are unreliable and hard to get serviced.

All you need is a sub $1000 Seiko automatic watches like the SARB series.
Very clean, durable, comfortable to wear and timeless.
More recognizable high end brands like Omega, Grand Seiko or Tudor are nice but it is quite shocking to see how badly they depreciate.
Rolex watches hold their value well but simply outrageously overpriced.

>20atm water proof
Quite impressive, since the human body of a normal person can withstand only 10 atm...

10€ casio is all you need

>Quite impressive, since the human body of a normal person can withstand only 10 atm...

>what is dynamic pressure?

>10€ casio is all you need
taliban agree

Whats wrong with a little bit of taste?

>go to america
>guard at airport notices your casio
>get a free rectal inspection

pic is my vostok

Are they any good beside not being mainstream?

>taliban agree
ALLAH AKBAR !!

>a little bit of taste?
gay

keep believing that bullshit lmao.

mechanical watch is a novelty piece for autists and/or a piece of jewellry. There's nothing practical about it.
>massive chunk of metal constantly on your wrist
>less accurate that even the cheapest china-made quartz watch no matter how hard you try because mechanical timekeeping is inherently flawed
>metal bracelet is uncomfortable unless you're working at an office job, also fragile as shit
>"muh nato strap" soaks sweat/water, is not very hygienic and needs to be washed frequently otherwise it stinks like dirty underwear
>requires constant maintenance whether it's winding the spring, storing it "in the proper position" or just adjusting the time to make up for the shitty accuracy of it

pic related, examples of practical watches.

In my opinion, citizen's eco-drive watches are the best choices for practical use. Unlike posters ITT, I put up wrist watch for practical use in office.

b-but they also have cheese... and chocolate

>gay
Pic related.

>There's nothing practical about it.
Never run out battery.
>massive chunk of metal constantly on your wrist
I sleep with my seiko and even ear him durng the bath and lake rivers.
I don't even feel it.
>metal bracelet is uncomfortable
It's true, desu.
>"muh nato strap" soaks sweat/water, is not very hygienic and needs to be washed frequently otherwise it stinks like dirty underwear
Just take a bath wearing it.
>requires constant maintenance whether it's winding the spring, storing it "in the proper position" or just adjusting the time to make up for the shitty accuracy of it
3 years, and not a single problem.

*put on

I have Citizen's counterpart of the left watch. It's very convenient. I put on it when I wake up and take a shower without detaching it. And it's light af therefore the least tiring watch.

t. el polaco

el nippon knows

>I sleep with my seiko and even ear him durng the bath and lake rivers.
>I don't even feel it.
If I put a metal collar on your neck you'd get used to it too. Not a fucking argument.

Pic related, he doesn't feel it anymore either.

>Never run out battery.
I'd take spending 5 minutes to change the battery every 10 years than having to wind it everyday and adjust the time every month.

>I'd take spending 5 minutes to change the battery every 10 years than having to wind it everyday and adjust the time every month.

desu that is part of the joy. it is like a toy for grown ups, like a Tamagotchi or pet you take care of

>it is like a toy for grown ups, like a Tamagotchi or pet you take care of
I just said that

go full on KGB and buy a black face IWC chrono like Putin's, it's only about 6k

I have this one

yeah you are right, there is no sane reason to wear one, quarz watches are more accurate and last a lot longer

Mechanical watches also need to be sent to manufacturer and get full disassembly cleaning/maintenance once per a few years in order to keep the accuracy. That takes something like 250 US dollar here(if the watch is omega).

whats that brand Sup Forums watch lads cream themselves over?
Obris morgan thats it

t. Millenial

Watch is much quicker than spending a minute to haul your phone from your pocket and putting it back, but I guess you don't need to know time or be punctual in your "occupation".

by the way nice wathces if you're into mechanical. Once i sold 'komandirskie' to one american fella and he was glad

>spending a minute to haul your phone from your pocket and putting it back
>a minute
>a fucking minute
sup, grandpa

Busy workers often have stuffs in his pockets like pen, tiny notepad, coin case, keys etc. Why not rely on wrist watch? It's quicker and more convenient.

A. Lange & Söhne
fantasy watch.
I woudn't mind a Grand Seiko. Shits all over Rolex.

You can "service" them yourself.

If I'm honest, the most practical watch is one of those bulletproof digital casios, but my vostok looks better.

most people also have more than one pocket thom I can't really imagine how would you fit all the stuff you mentioned in one pocket

Plenty of those on ebay, and they don't cost much. I especially like the ones with the crown in the two oclock position.

Fuck off idiot, unless you are in your late 30s or 40s, you are either also a "Millenial" or underaged.
Checking your phone takes a second or two. Stop being such a fucking poser.

Hard to do while driving cunt. I wouldn't have bought it if it were useless. Obviously I like nice things too. Go masturbate to anime you insecure hypocrite.

I didn't say I fit all of them into one pocket. When you are sitting on chair and working on desk, stuffs other than mobilephone could block your hand to pull out the phone. In that case, you need to stand up once for taking out the phone. Also, if you concentrate on the work, you could forget which pocket you fit your phone into.

It's a massive pain in the arse to pull my manpurse/phonecase thingy out of my pocket while I'm sitting.

Кoмaндиpcкиe porn.

Hey I also own a Vostok, a special edition one with GMT fuction. Cool watches.

I also own this mechanical chronograph from the Soviet airforce, an 80s poljot Sturmanskie. I used to have quite a Autistic Soviet/Russian mechanical watch collection but sold most of them.

fair point, but I usually place my phone on my desk at work so I can see if someone is calling
also, why the hell would I need wristwatch at work when I can see the time both on the monitor and my landline?

Nice watches.

>sold most of them
You made baby Stalin cry.

why so ugly

I like that face.

The 4 numbers thing looks good. The watch I have on has the scuba dude, 3 numbers face.

seiko just paid them the studio to have them all over the film they were never manly lol.

Fucking nips. That thing is a shitter.

Dress watch:
Seiko Dolce, certain citizen eco drives
Diver:
Vostok
Beater:
G-shock

Analog indication is better than digital indication generally. You can grasp the time physically or visually through the analog watch. Digital watches has their own pros though.

Also, you are not around your desk all the time. When you are away from your desk, you can't see the time on monitor or landline.

Nice.
Post collections and rate. Here's mine.

I've blown out my wrist too many times leaning forward and putting my hands on a table palm-flat only for the watch to crush the tendons and veins on the top of hand too many times to give a fuck about that shit.

I'll just continue telling the time by smelling the air and sensing the hight of the sun thank you very much

I have this broken Omega. I wish I could sell this to some idiot, saying it's antique.

Looks like a chink fake

t. watch expert

>tfw too dumb to wear a wristwatch

really?

Then you better quit calling yourself expert. I have sent it to Omega Japan once for maintenance. If it's a copied stuff, they refuse maintaining it.

Yeah, well my watch still only costs ~$80.

My Bocтoк.

>That homage of the good old explorer from Zeno
Niiiiicee

Actually that was just my recommendation, because I realize that even as a watch enthusiast paying more than a thousand for a watch is crazy. That "list" I made is for people who want to get into watches a little but don't want to pay much. I would recommend vintage Rolex for fancy shit, but that requires research.

Also, this set I have is hardly a collection. It's all just watches I bought off a relative who decided to stop caring, at a discount. Note how I have a pathfinder (pro trek) instead of a g shock.

I wear chinese Casio rip-offs bought on aliexpress that costed me 2$ including shipping from Shenzhen (which is on the eastern border of China) to Kursk (which is on the western border of Russia).
The only downside is the accuracy - they lose 1 second every 2 hours.

Real Casios just keep on going, as long as you keep feeding them batteries periodically. Their timekeeping is always spot on.

Thanks, it's my latest purchase. Got a good deal for it, just 170€ and I love it. I'm selling the SARB despite being a superior watch but I don't see the point in owning two quite similar watches having a huge preference for one of them.

>Also, you are not around your desk all the time.
that depends on your job I guess, but still, I can do with my phone just fine even when I spend the entire day running from one meeting to another 2bh

Russians watches never really built the superior way. They are not popular in Europe/US because the mechanical watch market is owned by the Swiss, even when the market plummeted when quartz arrived.
They're a bit more common, but the swiss offer is much too broad for mid range watches and Japanese dominates anything below (actually good watches, not talking about cheap chinese crap)
t. watchmaker

I have read the Russian movements are dumped down copies of Swiss movements because their machines were not precise enough

A lot of them used to not have jewels as well, and the steel used for the spring was quite bad.
But it's more a matter of economy, than actual technology. Their clocks are of pretty good quality and well finished.

Built like an AK.

It's still the world's toughest watch.

Tough solar or eco drive?

>wearing a watch
>not just looking by the shadow of the sundial and the feels of the bone to tell time

Do you have autism? Legit question, no bully.

You don't have to be autistic to collect nice things m8.

Though an autistic person is likely to collect things.

...

its weird that pink skins buy expensive stuff to be more attractive for potential mating partners while Greeks dont have to put such high effort since they look better by nature

i noticed that when me and my turkish friends were laughing at an ugly young german who was driving an expensive car

I wear a movado

Fucking hell germans are the least funny posters on Sup Forums

Stereotypes exist for a reason

i dont try to be funny here
im serious most of the time

and I am a Greek
not a german subhuman
