Many people on Sup Forums seem to be of the opinion that Depardieu is the greatest French actor of all time. Do you share this opinion? Why do you think it's a popular one?

Jean Reno desu
>the guy that claims he drinks 12 bottles of wine DAILY
he doesn't give a shit anymore since he lost his son. He's living life to the fullest, eating and drinking like crazy
In all honesty i have never seen him give a bad performance.
He's at Gary Oldman level at least.
He's really not. Not even in top 10 of best french actors imo
I love Leaud. Amazing filmography, too.
List your top 10.
He's russian though
Michel Simon
Jean Gabin
Jean Marais
Vincent Lindon
Alain Delon
Lino Ventura
Daniel Auteuil
Pierre Brasseur
Philippe Noiret
Michel Serrault
The term pretentious seems so fitting.
But it's unfair cause those are actually talented actors.
Never heard of any of them.
He is certainly fat
I guess the two of you have something in common.
good list my man
Depardieu got some exposure in English language films might have something to do with it
I think Eastern Euros like him too.
But anyone doubting his acting skills should watch Danton. Guy's a powerhouse.
>no dominique pinon
I liked him as Danton.
his best performance imo
Never even heard of Delon ?
He's the dude in Le Samurai
We need MORE movies about the Revolution
He is a small guy
...
Agreed.
As if he was trying to "accidentally" touch her ass.
That was all Napoleon.
N'importe quoi...
Good list but Depardieu should be on it.
Of those in activity, it's a fair enough opinion.
Recently his Rasputin was pure kino performance.
...
And a little bit of Robespierre.
Maximillien non !
HON HON DES SUSSEX ANGLAIS SONT TOUJOURS CÉLÈBRE POUR L'EXCELLENCE...
...
>14 years old
I was disgusted when he revealed that he was a gay for pay child prostitute
And this is from...?
I've only seen him in 1900, what were his other good ones?
Mon père, ce héros
I couldnt finish 1900. It was way too long and way too communist sympathizing
This sounds like one of those made up things that people say to add to a legend, like "Bill Murray stole my french fries."
Wine.
Can't speak French.
Depardieu sees the journalist, is obviously drunk, and says
"Oh le petit journal ... Petit journal le sexe .... petit journal le sexe ... la chatte ... Petit journal la chatte"
I wouldn't even be able to translate, he's just saying the name of their show, sex and pussy
Décontractés du gland
>French
You mean Russian?
He wrote about it in his last book. He was so poor that he let old pedofags fuck him for money.
I see. Well, that is very drunk of him.
C'est bien joué Pedro mais vous perdez votre joker, vous n'avez plus le droit à l'erreur
he's got screen presence, but I've never been particularly impressed with any of his performances
I thought the same until i saw the last Dolan movie, "Juste la fin du monde", the last scene is really wonderful because of him, he plays a somehow dumb yet selfaware dude
...
What are some good films with Jean Reno besides Leon?
Le Grand Bleu
Mission impossible
The rest is shit.
l'affectation impracticable
L'Opération Corned Beef. Has the most hilarious cuck scene I've ever seen
>L'Opération Corned Beef
I can't stop laughing at the fact that this is actually the name of a movie.
He's the greatest that had sold his ass to pedos as a kid.
It's a joke from the movie. The french president is pissed they chose an english name for their mission
The GOAT
I'd still fuck her
Tfw i had acting lessons with this guy when i was a child
I'm gonna have corned beef for dinner tomorrow, think it's a good time to watch the movie?
delicious
Subway. Really fun 80s movie, plus it has Isabelle Adjani and Christopher Lambert.
Yes, 1900 was too full of itself to be a great movie. Still, Donald Sutherland played one of the most reprehensible characters I have ever seen. The scene with the boy is one of the few scenes that has ever shocked me.
>Many people on Sup Forums seem to be of the opinion that Depardieu is the greatest French actor of all time
How did you come to this conclusion?
He's good, but I've never seen this board talk about him even once.
I just made that up to get people talking.
Since Alain Delon is now Swiss, I would say Jean Reno and Eva Green
Eva Green, so good she's considered male.
He's also great in Le Comte de Monte Cristo, Cyrano de Bergerac, Jean de Florette and Le retour de Martin Guerre

People like him, Reno, Delon and Belmondo because they're the ones with international exposure.
They're good, no question, but I think this list is solid
Well she does look kind of androgynous at times.
>Belmondo
The guy who fights Dracula?
His italian twin brother.
