That you can't just throw the ball into the endzone for a touchdown?

No because there's no sensible alternative suggested that doesn't allow offensive players to abuse the rule, or put the players intent up for judgement by the official.

why didn't he just try to not do the thing that would make his team lose the game?

an offense should be able to "accidently" punt the ball into the endzone and it count as a touchdown

whaàaaaaaaaaa

What would you change it to?

I'm pretty sure the solution would be to just return the ball to the point of the fumble

pretty sure that is the rule but for some reason, in the end zone, the other team gets the ball... at the 20. Makes no sense, just like so many other rules in NFL

Fumbling through the end zone should move the ball half way towards the goal line from the previous line of scrimmage with a loss of down on the play.

>offense still gets punished and defense still gets rewarded
>no more stupid system where the difference between a touchdown and a turnover at the 20 yard line is the ball moving one millionth of an inch on instant replay

>Have the ball at the ten
>Run it but not going to get more than a yard
>purposely fumble out the back of the endzone and get a free five yards.
No problem here

if you can fumble 10+ yards forward without the defense picking the ball up before it goes out the back of the endzone you deserve 5 yards for the effort

HEY EVERYBODY you cannot fumble the ball forward on offense. It's already a rule

>archaic
it's a new rule actually lol

This just proves that gloves suck

>give offense free yards for messing up badly and fumbling out of end zone
Congratulations, this is the single worst “fix” of a rule I ever read

You know that rule exists BECAUSE of the Raiders right?

Don't fumble the ball and this "problem" doesn't matter.

>move the ball half way towards the goal line
if anything it should be a 5-10 yard penalty. offense should get punished for screwing up. that's why the rule is there in the first place.

That wouldn’t have been a touchback with today’s rules. It was recovered inbounds. Raider ball at the apot of the fumble.

>rules are shit
>most games are shit
>CTE
>London games
>Chargers playing in a high school gymnasium
>tickets can be bought for $6
JUST

Favors offense too much, like all these auto 1st down penalties

Changing it to a 20 yard touchback for the offense literally solves every single problem

It's pretty fucking simple: Protect the ball near the goal line, don't want a touchback? Don't cough it up. And again a coach with Marshawn lynch goes full retard and doesn't use him in a goal line situation.

He could have stepped out of bounds...he had the first down...

It's understandable that they don't allow yards gained from a fumble to count as forward progress, but I'm not sure why the ball couldn't be spotted back at the point of the fumble.

I laughed like a crazy fuck last night, inertia is a wonderul thing

what about making a fumble into the end zone a turnover, but the opposing offence starts on the goal line rather than making it a full touchback

What is it with millennial constantly trying to "fix" everything? Just a desire to spread their innate brilliance throughout the world?
How about this, don't fumble the fucking ball.

Clearly doesn't have possession of the ball.
Carr should've protected the ball, and went down where he was tackled.
Still get to run another play or plays.

Carr made the decision to go for a meme play and he paid the price.
The rule is fine because there should be high risks associated with high rewards.
You want to lay out for a touchdown and hold the ball in one hand, where it is subject to being knocked loose? Go ahead, but there will be risks.
The rules already heavily favor the offense as it is and now numale fags want even more leeway for offenses.

Teams need to figure out how to take advantage of this rule to stop Brady from sneaking at the one yard line all the time. Get someone to shoryuken that shit into the stands.

I'm against changing the rule, but I'm pretty sure numales are into the "MUH D WINS CHIPS" meme, like Seahawks fans and shit.

Touchback but offense keeps the ball. Boom. Done.

no time on the clock. first and goal raiders!

Goodell only changes the rules once they cause a Patriots loss
I was so hyped when that superbowl went to OT because there was a chance of the coinflipwinslol overtime rule finally being changed, but of course it didn't go that way

You mean like when he changed the FG defense rules making it illegal to jump because the patriots were the only team blocking multiple fgs every year by jumping, or when he changed touchback rule after Pats lead the league in touchbacks, or when he made it illegal play breathe on receivers twice after Peyton Manning cried and complained that he couldn't beat patriots, or was when he changed rules for who is eligibility received after ravens were outsmarted by patriots and they cried about it?

Typical soyboy who hates success and cries about it online, go back to your cuckshed.

>numales
>D wins championships
Been saying since the times of Lombardi even earlier, proven right in most of history. Another meme spouting retard doesn't know what he's talking about.

eligible receiver*

Millenials don't watch the NFL

How the fuck does that favor the offense? It's essentially ending the play once the runner fumbles unless the defense can recover. How is that an advantage? Literally the same rules for fumbling OB anywhere else.

>hurr durr godda be mor caerfull by da endzone

But defenders don't have to? They can force a turnover without actually having to recover the ball?

Refs have been changing and over exaggerating the rules since Taglibue and the worst commissioner of all sports Goodell. In the end they will pull shit out of thier ass and make you eat it. pic related

It's one of the GOAT rules. If a defense can pull off a miracle they deserve to be rewarded. Don't fucking fumble the ball, filthy offense babby.

Or maybe Carr should know about basic ball security and just run out of bounds after getting the first down instead of trying to be a hero?
