All of JJ's monsters look like the same overly busy unimaginative CGI trash.
It's particularly apparent in Super 8 because the monster and the kid are supposed to have an emotional connection similar to ET and Elliot but it's just a flatline mostly because the monster design is horrendous. You can't just slap big Disney eyes one of your shitty stock alien designs and expect it to create an emotional reaction, JJ.

To be fair this is just the final few seconds of the movie. It wasn't really a costume designed to be great, it was just to show Magneto in his first villain outfit and they gave him a direct adaptation of the comics one for fans. If it was on screen for more than 5 second it would be more egregious.
