Were they too good to succeed?

Were they too good to succeed?

yes, it is well known in football that the best team will not win the WC.

>Brazil in 1982
>Argentina in 1990
>England in 2002
>France in 2006
>Brazil in 2014

it is part of the mystique of the world cup, sometimes the loser will always be remembered, and that is how we will remember the Greatest Golden Generation, not by titles, but how captivated we were watching and seeing it live

James
Neville - Terry - Campbell - Cole
Scholes
Beckham - Gerrard - Lampard
Rooney - Owen

>Brazil in 2014

kek kek KEK

Brazil 2014 LMAO.... BRAZIL 2006.

why does Scholes look so mean in this pic?

What sport is this?

Remove Cashley, Judas Campbell and Afro James we could talk

Scholes was a mean son of a bitch in his day.

>early 2000s fashion

Where english goalkeepers so bad back that they had to put Rio Ferdinand in the goal?

Cole and Campbell were unironically our best players when they played for England.

>2014
>Brazil
You could have at least put Brazil in 1998. Although Spain was the best team in 2010 and Germany was the best team in 2014.

>Owen's massive shinguards

What was his end game?

>beckham's eyebrows
>scholesy's scowl
>james being the only one smiling

That team is shit

trying to stop his knees from exploding

>no defensive midfielder
>no left winger
The lack of these two players really ruins the team balance and makes for a pretty bad set of formation options for the team to be honest.

The team can’t play 4-4-2 well because of the lack of left wing options and because Beckham is the captain this basically forces the team to play 4-4-2 because Beckham isn’t as effective in the centre of midfield.

If you play both Lampard and Gerard together you really need a defensive midfielder to cover their attaching runs. The best option would be a 4-4-2 diamond with a defensive midfielder to cover their forward runs.

A formation of:

Heskey-Owen
Gerrard
Lampard-Scholes
Barry
Cole-Terry-Campbell-Neville

Would have been the best option desu

Ironically he's actually not wearing shinguards in that pic.
That's how his legs looked after 127 injuries.

Memes and ABEism aside, that's one of the best teams to never win anything

agreed, i tried to be an asshole and >meme arrow someone in that side but i cannot

they will forever be lost and forgotten in the sands of time

you got it all wrong m8

>Argentina 1990
