I'll just leave this here...

so they're just gonna blame the protests right? not learn that the product as a whole this year was fucking awful and the parity in the NFC couldn't even save it

>Eagles and Bills made the playoffs
>cowgirls and xehawks missed the playoffs

idk what you're talking about senpai, that's a damn good product in my eyes

More people stream now; who the fuck still watches TV?

yes it's fun to see parity but a lot of the national games this year were utter shit and everybody just thinks the Pats are gonna prance their way to the Owl again with no competition so why even bother watching the AFC?

That fucking image. This is why I was opposed to the new stadium in Atlanta. Falcons fans are the worst and don't deserve a new stadium. How the fuck does your team go to the superbowl, build a new stadium, not lose any significant players for the next season and still not have fans show up?

t. petty Falcons fan

>Parity
8 new teams made the playoffs this season

idiots like you need to get with the times

streaming is not only recorded ratings but has ads too

this isn't 2010 where it was the wild west when you streamed off a service or illegally which itself makes up less than 1% even now

>>ratings
FACT: The #1 Most-Watched thing on NBC in 2017 was. . . the NFL.

NASCAR has seen ratings plummet to super-low levels.
The Walking Dead has seen a huge ratings decline.

This Is Us has seen ratings sky-rocket.

Go figure.

yeah but are any of them beating the Steelers or Pats in the AFC divisional round? Probably not
At least the NFC looks interesting

Ratings for pretty much all TV programs are down. Cord cutting, streaming, apathy, etc.

This has little to do with the protests but using nascar as an example is fallacious as hell. Theyve completely destroyed their product compared to what it was 15 years ago.

Hell put it this way, you need an advanced degree in mathematics to keep track of scoring in a sport that appeals mainly to busch light swilling trailer trash.

NFL ratings down.... NBA ratings up

lel

9-10% this year, 8-9% last year.
Losing almost 20% of your revenue stream in two seasons has got to be making executives sweat.

>ratings down 10%? heh so what, im still #1, i wanted ratings to go down

canadian schools failed you

MLB, NBA, NHL, College football are up

NBA is up around 20% but NFL fans will tell you that cord cutting is their leagues problem.

>8-9% last year
>9-10% this year
>total of 17-19%
That's not how percentages work, user.

and to top it all off, Goodell just got a 5 year $200m extension

fire goodell, dissolve the patriots and browns franchises and all is good

Assume you start with 100%.

First year it becomes 91%.

The next year, you lose 10% of 91%, so about 9%.

You're now at 82%

Hence, around 20%.

I guess it all depends on what you're comparing the final amount to. Carry on.

SOON

this faggot is so annoying with his fake announcer voice

>Caring about TV ratings for sports

America was a fucking mistake, absolute cancer

What was even wrong with the old stadium? New one looks pretty similar inside.

MLS fills up the stadium, what's wrong with the NFL?

A factor is a factor. I agree it's a minor thing to why the ratings are down, but a percentage leaving is still a result.

>I care more about my fantasy team blah blah
Cancer, just like those hipsters who jumped on the ads are better than the superb owl.

Your faggot country is responsible for Canada.

...

>those hipsters who jumped on the ads are better than the superb owl
you mean women?

>Ratings for pretty much all TV programs are down.
right, but that's a death sentence for a grow-forever enterprise like the NFL which needs the perception of being a sure-thing to maximize ad revenue
perception is reality and right now, the perception is that the NFL is in decline

The conference Championship games are usually always better than the Super Bowl.

soon salaries will start going down as well

JUST

pretty shocking none of the nba players kneeled, or that it wasnt a bigger deal

>soon salaries will start going down as well

HOL UP

Listen, it's easy to explain

QB play is too powerful. They made pass defense basically illegal. they made pass rush almost flag football. The result wasn't a democratization of passing. The result was the best QBs became even better. The problem in the league is not enough good QBs to go around. Before they made passing unstoppable, teams could get into the playoffs or even win a superbowl with running and defense and mediocre QB play. since this change in rules, QB play is the only thing to matter. Sure, in a weak conference weak teams with bad QBs can make the playoffs, but generally speaking the season is over before it starts for 20 out of 32 teams.

It's just taken the fans 10 years to figure that out.

he's just a yinzer who grew tired of the Steelers shitshow

>2021
>Drumpf is no longer in office
>His cult-like hold on the MAGA-crowd is dissipating

"Wake up, Cletus. You're free."
"I am? I can watch the NFL again?!"
"Yes. What about protesting players?"
"Who gives a fuck. Football!"

The problem was that the league wrote its current pass game rules over 10 years ago when easily 60% of teams had what today would be considered an elite passing QB, guys like Hasselbeck, Warner, Rivers, Palmer, yung Flacco and old Favre who today would be second only to Brady or Big Ben, were a dime a dozen in the league and the true elites like Payton, Eli, Big Ben, TB12, Brees, etc were all in their prime.

Fast forward to today, and the dearth of quality passing QB talent coming out of the NCAA is so atrocious that Carson Fucking Palmer just played his last season fully 5 years after anyone with a brain in 2007 would have expected him to be playing, because even a washed up mediocre QB from the Dubya years is still better than the garbage that the NCAA has been shitting out under center.

So now you have all these byzantine passing rules built around protecting circa 2006 Brady/Payton so that they could eviscerate the shitty defences with the kind of offensive play that they'll be making documentaries about in 50 years from now, only now there's no good young passing talent to protect with them, and the games are sloppy, unsatisfying trainwrecks to watch as a result.

basketball players tend to be more sophisticated than football goons. having a criminal record is pretty much a requirement for playing in the NFL.

And you can thank Peyton for most of those rules that favor the passer (not protecting the QB rules).
It all started early 2000s when Peytons team got BTFO yet again by the Pats in the playoffs, and Bill Polian got the rules changed. They basically told the NFL "our QB babbie receivers can't get open against good defenses, NFL please do something" and the NFL did.

>I care more about my fantasy team than the team I grew up rooting for
What a fucking retard lmao dude needs to kill himself. Never a real fan

>bills barf their way into a playoff spot
Oh yeah, it was great.

Imagine believing this. Back to r*ddit, Roger.

they probably saw how the NFL shitshow went and opted to not follow

I wonder does the NFL pay people to defend them in online arguments?

Has nothing to do with protests or trumptards. NFL has passed peak commercialism and nobody wants to waste 4 hours watching truck commercials anymore.

Listen, it's easy to explain

Ameriegg is dick.

It doesn't help that tickets for the new stadium are absurdly expensive

t. nervous patriots fan
