The Master? Bait.

I watched the first few minutes of this and it looked boring so I turned it off.

Hacksaw ridge
Bvs
Sucker punch
Iron fist

>Character Study

(I like this film though)

Someone put up a few scenes from Hacksaw Ridge, Jesus, it's very obvious Mel was behind it.

I wish this shithole could trick me into watching great movies

How the fuck did you fall for all of these?
For me, it was only Mann's movies, i was tricked into trying to "get" VA.
There's nothing to get, its just shite,

Threads like this are pleb containment threads really, bunch of spineless tasteless kids who think if they don't like a universally acclaimed film then it must be shit.

You don't have to like them, but if you really think it's shit then give actual buzzword-free arguments for it, not"boring" "nothing happens" "pretentious" "DUDE OVERSIMPLIFICATION LMAO" etc

Is "character study" just a fancier way of saying "movie with shit story but kinda neat characters in it?"

Even the acclaimed cinematography was bad.

>boring
>nothing happens
>pretentious

Literally The Master.

>he fell for the Anderson meme

All directors named Anderson are fucking hacks

hehe great constructive post my dear friend, I love the use of the word "literally", surely you are a highly intellectual individual hehe

this one
What a piece of fucking garbage.

lmao at this pleb

Memories of a murder. Pointless, retarded piece of shit. I've not seen a single good korean film yet

Hacksaw ridge was a huge disappointment, all the morons here were saying it was the best war movie of all time. The acting, dialogue, and war scenes were some fucking b movie tier shit. Garfield had a horrible accent, the boot camp scenes were cliche as fuck, and the special effects were terrible. It was a 6/10 flick.
Don't need to explain why the others are terrible(capeshit)

Wait, this is a real movie? lol, I remember seeing the trailer for this and I thought it was a sketch comedy thing.

American Psycho

Hacksaw Ridge was great pleb
BvS is one of the best capeshit ever made just before man of steel
Sucker Punch was a bit too ambitious for it's time
i haven't seen iron fist yet.

This shit, i mean, no pewpew or smoking hot chicks.

the neon demon
you fuckers and your artsy fartsy shit

post top 20

I love when people use the word "retarded" as an argument against a film, it's literal projection of their sub intelligent defense mechanism in action

If anyone has a definite "top 20 films" list in the first place then he is more then likely a first class supreme plebeian

>Sucker Punch was a bit too ambitious for it's time
I never bothered to see the others you've mentioned, but that movie was like if someone wanted to turn brazil into a bad porno, then took out the sex scenes

You're using projection to argue that others are projecting

it's been 15 minutes now, imdb
do you have the list ready yet or are you a videogame sensibilities?

the way you describe things on an anonymous imageboard makes me want to punch you in the face

>t. Redditor
You have to go back you fucking newfag

bvs was boring

kek, Sup Forums tried to make me watch that boring 3 hour film about an Irishman in the British army, I was unsuccessfully baited.

The characters were so retarded that I started thinking it was some parody film. The plot was predictable and 100% pointless.
wtf is wrong with koreans?

While you are entitled to your own opinion, you are wrong.

...

Why don't you Google it and then use that info to add to the discussion

While you are entitled to your own opinion, you are wrong.

No, not really.

Now hold the fuck on, I should start by saying I don't lurk on Sup Forums, I'm just browsing out of boredom, but how is this movie bad? Or Paul Thomas Anderson? I'm a movieholic, watched the best and the worst, and PTA is one of my favorite directors by far. Boogie nights, there will be blood, the master, etc. Good shit. How is he bad?

greasy strangler, brothers grimsby
just kidding, those were the best comedies of last year

He's not, don't mind that faggot contrarian.

>I'm a movieholic, watched the best and the worst, and PTA is one of my favorite directors by far. Boogie nights, there will be blood, the master, etc. Good shit
is this b8

>movieholic

Its reddit. They even called the thread reddit general

Gotcha, like I said I don't go on this board much so I don't know what the general opinion is, but it's hard to imagine everyone here hating PTA, the guy is one of the few newish modern directors that is more then decent.

>insulting based ws
gtfo

>donkeybrains detected

Videophile, frequent watcher of film, I could make a list for you.

>the special effects were terrible

I disagree on this point.

This was the last time I trusted Sup Forums taste in movies.

Not even close, his movies are genuinely fantastic. I'll admit I hated punch drunk love but that's because I just hate Sandler so the whole film is tainted.

>Hacksaw ridge
This. Also Black Hawk Down.

I guess you need to be an american to like those, there is nothing subtle aboutt both movies, borderline recruitment. Some shit would fit right into a CoD game.

Watched the entirety of The Leftovers to get to International Assassin. The show is like Lost, going around in circles of mystery without any form of explanation. Enjoyable to watch but not even close to "great", kinda mediocre

>recruitment material.

you go to hell and you die

>PTA toddler unironically self identifies as "movieholics"
There we have it folks.

is THIS b8?

It's just a shittier version of the sopranos coma episodes. Anybody who thought there was anything remarkable about it is underexposed to quality television.

GoT, the wire, the shield, daredevil, the wire

I spent $4.99 on this borderline unwatchable violent male-power fantasy flick. This board is fucking retarded.

Punch Drunk Love is the only above average film in PTA's pleb bait filmography. You have all of those dank reddit "movie buff" consensus adhearing meme opinions though.
>I hate Sandler
>PTA is a significant director
PTA's synthetic "masterpieces" did more damage to art cinema than Sandler ever could. He took the American epic scooped out the insides, filled it with memes and then served his big greasy hot pocket up to the waiting mouths of the video game players who just grew out of Nolantino and want to see "real" film whilst also being completely afraid to leave their comfort zones.

He is one of the most destructive forces in the medium today. Can't wait for the new generation of directors who admired PTA and the "memes" of "memes" of "memes" that we'll be treated to. Never trust a director who "went to movies".

Literally nothing of substance was said, you never judged his movies and his directing style on his own merits. Are you capable of creating an insightful post instead of spouting retarded buzzwords

I wanted to like it, but there isn't really anything to those movies aside from amazing stunts and action choreography. No reason to like those characters or care about them. Even Raid 1 and 2 despite being very similar in structure, had more likable characters.

>responding to b8 with better b8

I like your style

You need to go outside more.

That's because it's a copypasta.

This thread just shows to me how many plebs are on Sup Forums

All films should be judged by their implications for our society. Style and technical prowess have no function other than stroking "LE MUBIE BUFF" dick and collecting the upvotes that spew out of the tip.

PTA, Cuckoldtino, Capeshit, Reboots. It's all part of the same Jew instigated cultural genocide to keep us trapped fondly worshiping some bygone era, totally blind to the forces that are destroying us.

DUDE REMEMBER WHEN THEY MADE REAL AUTEUR DRIVEN EPICS BACK IN THE DAY is the same as DUDE REMEMBER STAR WARS except fashionable to a more middlebrow demographic.

It doesn't matter if you're wowed by some long take, or grandstanding performance. That is masturbation. Enjoyment is the pacifier. No culturally beneficial film ever made audiences feel good. Cinema should be judged as a cultural purifier. Either it's battling the degeneracy head on or it is capeshit white genocide pleb fodder.

Why do you hate PTA so much, besides his rehash of an epic that is There Will Be Blood, which I agree is overrated. Still good, but overrated.

Sopranos, some of the most hamfisted garbage I've ever seen. There was zero subtlety, but since Sup Forums is full of plebs, they find anything with obvious symbolism to be "deep" and "smart".
>DUDE NIHILISM LMAO
Kek, what a piece of shit show
Also the meadow and AJ's acting was complete garbage.

Synecdoche, New York

I bet you're the type of guy that unironically uses the word "kino" and thinks spring breakers is a masterpiece

>Shitting on an objectively good comedy
Go back to watching YMS

So you believe a film should be judged by its implications for our society and subsequent impact? And you think directors like PTA and capeshit drive society toward degeneracy?

Yet you hate "auteur driven epics" and despise the established techniques of film?

Then what fucking movies do you like? You sound like a pretentious traditionalist yet you don't like the traditions of film and seem to not care for the medium, but rather its impact on society. So why is your opinion even of any importance when you dont respect the foundation of film nor understand its subtleties and detest its history? It seems you're more motivated by propaganda then by film

Best 3 hour movie that goes absolutely nowhere.

hey everyone look this guy thinks Synecdoche, New York is shit

No Country For Old Men

Seriously what was even the point. Just when it seems like it's picking up it ends with the bad guy winning to be le edgy and then cuts to a dumb monologue that DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING.

reddit

>I didn't understood the themes of the movie: the post

His entire filmography is a reheated evocation of a past era of cinema, carefully constructed to appeal to the sensibilities of unsophisticated film goers who still think their enjoyment of a film is a good thing. Intricately constructed yet empty monuments to his own adhearance to what is fashionable. To understand the worthlessness of PTA realize that he Tarantino. More restraint (at least past the 90s) and more "tasteful" subject matter, set the same nostalgic regurgitating sensibility that keeps cinema trapped in a cycle of autofellatio.

shit bait

Is it really so bad for something to be obvious? Obviously not to the point where it's clumsy, there is a balance. But is it really any better to have some incoherent sequence with "multiple interpretations" when really it doesn't even mean anything?

>DUDE NIHILISM LMAO
>AREN'T I ENLIGHTENED WOW SO DEEP

Any of those spammed animes here
Evangelion
Galactic heroes
Berserk
Cowboybeebop
Etc..
Children cartoons are not for me probably.

>Yet you hate "auteur driven epics" and despise the established techniques of film?
I hate "Dude remember _____" I hate adherance to established standards of "legitimacy" or "quality". I don't give a fuck about some 80s blockbuster that people enjoyed as children, but if you're emulating or repackaging that to cash in on nostalgia then that is cultural regression. Same goes for PTA except subsitute 80s blockbuster with respected new hollywood classic and swap monetary gain for artistic legitimacy.

I've long outgrown enjoyment or the belief that enjoyment is a positive thing in the first place but I still feel that art has the potential to better society through destroying our enemies.

>Master and Commander
Good acting, but it is so desperately drawn out it spoils it by the end.
>Wolf of Wallstreet
It had Martin Scorses trademarks written all over it, and it was fucking garbage. Edgy internal monologues, standard pretentious Marty script, and weak ass slow motion editing.

I actually think Shutter Island is Martin Scorsese' best work in recent memory as he actually he leaves his comfort zone slightly, and produces an OK movie by doing it. Not great, but he at least had the balls to not rely on his exhausted filming style, and script selections.

>The Seventh Seal

I think this one was just a matter of me being too stupid to get it.

How are Scorcese scripts pretentious?

...

I turned this off after 15 minutes of marathoning it. Sad because I enjoyed PTA's other flicks.

Silence is Scorsese's best movie since Taxi Driver.
