Day 4 of the BDO World Darts Championships sees the end of the men's first round, and hopefully it's a better offering than the rubbish we saw yesterday.
The sedate afternoon offering includes yet another Welshman in Jim Williams up against Swedish strongman Dennis Nilsson, Netherlands' Dirk Kuyt lookalike Richard Veenstra plays Northern Ireland's Kyle McKinstry and Belgium's deputy BDO Eurojobber Geert de Vos faces young Dutchman Derk Telnekes. This session also features the horrifying creature from Lincolnshire Paula Jacklin against women's second seed Aileen de Graaf.
The evening is a lot better as its main highlights include a repeat of a 2016 first round game between Russian 3-time women's winner Anastasia Dobromyslova and Dutch whale Anca Zijlstra that saw Anastasia lose at the first hurdle for the first time, and breakthrough Grand Slam star Cameron Menzies against PDC failure Conan Whitehead. Menzies' manic antics and speedy play won the plaudits of many, and could be a hot prospect to switch, especially if he crashes out here. The other two games tonight see yesterday's prelim winners in action, with Daniel Day up against speedy left-handed Welsh binman Martin Phillips, and Germany's Michael Unterbuchner against the brain of Tipton in Jamie Hughes.
Coverage starts at 12:05pm on Channel 4 before switching to BT Sport 1 at 6:45pm.
All matches are best of 5 sets except women's matches (best of 3 sets). Women's matches are in greentext.

>Eh, it's the BDO so mistakes are aplenty. Heh, that's true.
The day someone takes over at the top who's completely outside the bubble like Bazza was for the PDC, the BDO will finally realise they are no longer the top dog in darts.
I hope so anyway.

>Speaking at the event, she said: "There is such a wide gap in prize money, which I feel is unfair to the ladies. Some of the ladies' averages are better than the men's," she said.

I appreciate that Channel 4 are being all inclusive and right-on by hiring Danny Crates.
Bit fuck me he's absolutely shit at his job and needs to be ditched. His 'cockney geezer' accent is way too strong and he fumbles through interviews like it's his first day on the job.
Zachary Lopez
>Some of the ladies' averages are better than the men's
Basically Ashton on a good day.
Jace Hill
I can only think Channel 4 went for the bare minimum to match what's on show.
I can't see them renewing the contract at the end of the tournament whatsoever.
>when Trina Gulliver averaged more over 3 sets than Jeffrey Sparidaans did That's just bad.
