The penultimate day of Lakeside sees the men's semi-finals and the women's final. The four semi-finalists contain 3 world titles, the current BDO #1 and a German on a remarkable run.
The afternoon's semi-final has a repeat of a 2016 quarter-final with reigning champ and #1 seed Glen Durrant against two-time champion Scott Waites. The pair's games yesterday were two phenomenal comebacks from 4-1 behind: Duzza ran riot on Jim Williams from that point, winning 12 out of 13 legs in the process and averaging 101 - the first time such an average has been achieved since 2014! Scotty 2 Hotty on the other hand had to survive 6 match darts from Andy Baetens. Based on the week's performances, Duzza should get through this easily as Waites hasn't even reached a 95 average.
The evening's semi-final guarantees a new finalist with Mark McGeeney facing Michael Unterbuchner. The Gladiator had to get through another scrap with Wayne Warren, while Michi once again punished his opponent's sloppy finishing by eliminating Richard Veenstra. While McGeeney has averaged over 90 in his last 2 games, Unterbuchner has shown spurts of that figure but has crucially not surpassed it.
Before all of that is the women's final which in comparison to previous years could actually be a good match. A new four-time champion is guaranteed as reigning champ Lisa Ashton takes on Anastasia Dobromsylova. Neither player has dropped a set yet, and with the Russian having averaged over 80 in every game so far, the Lancashire Rose will need to up her game significantly.
Coverage starts at 2:00pm on Channel 4 before switching to BT Sport 2 at 6:45pm.
