Why cant China do good movies?

>This movie is the pinnacle of Chinese cinema today
>Cost 150 mill to make(300 million+ if you take account of the Chinese PPP)
>Has the CGI quality of an independent B teir 1990s action movie
>Unconvincing and overt Chink propaganda and the plot seemed like it was written by Chinese fantasy gamers.

Most Chinks I know prefer South Korean and Taiwanese movies and dramas over their own native film industry. Films and Shows are quite important tools of Soft power to regional powers. Its the greatest propaganda tool and can also serve to inspire the masses. Yet China is failing miserably when it comes to their native film industry, despite of its importance for an emerging superpower. Why? The Chinese are incredibly talented people. What are the chinks doing wrong?

Censorship

>The Chinese are incredibly talented people
What did he mean by this?

communism was a mistake. that's why there is no kino coming from russia, eastern bloc, or soviet influenced nations, while SK, HK, Japan, Taiwan, Phillipines, Malaysia can put out kino.

>Unconvincing and overt Chink propaganda
That's literally every Chinese movie since they took over Hong Kong

>written by a couple of white guys and a jew
>Chinese movie

They have an average IQ of 105.

What? The monsters and costumes looked really good. Everything was detailed to the max. The only cgi stuff that looked odd was maybe the ending, when they went to the city.
And the thing that was off, was colouring the armours so westerners could differentiate the characters from one another..
All in all a good action movie.

And 0 creativity and originality which equals shitty movies

>t.Cucknada
How does it feel knowing your country is now a Chinese colony

Censorship and oppression kills creativity. Think too far out the box and the government will ship you off for "re-education", so nobody dares push the line.

Kung-Fu Panda is one of the most successful films in China, yet no Chinese would dare make it because it's literally unthinkable to make a sacred panda a baffoon.

But they can.
>john woo movies
>Hero

OP said good movies.

They were fantastic though.

Johnnie To makes very good films

They had the international Chinese Film Festival not too long ago. I imagine there was some high quality stuff there.

Really, using the Great Wall to make your argument is like Ling and Chen on WeChat saying that Westerners are uncreative because of the third Avenger's movie. You have to dig a little deeper.

is that the actor from infernal affairs?

America can't even make good movies anymore because they have to appeal to Chinese market

Just face it, chinks just have horrible taste in films

That movie is comparable to our Expendables, user, is not meant to be a "good" movie, but a popcorn fest.

They made good movies in the 90s and early 2000s. Then their souls got crushed by consumerism and a comfortable lifestyle.

I'm not even joking. That's literally what happened.

The only original or half-decent films being made in China right now are low budget, auteur movies that are not very ambitious compared to what was done in the preceding decades.

What about Red Cliff?

Because they don't value stuff like character development or virtue signaling. They just want to see crazy shit happening.

Plenty of good movies were produced in the USSR, but not after the fall.

Who said this was supposed to be a good movie?

Also China restricts the number of western made movies that can get released in China so making a chinese movie with Matt Damon in it gets around those rules and the studios can make more money.

dat sexual tension

Chinese indie movies are great. Even some overblown historical epics are good, Hero by the same director as great wall is one of the best martial arts movies of all time.
Also try out some Hong Kong crime dramas or Steven Chow, the Edgar Wright of China.

This
Drug War > Heat

I'd expect their CGI to be pretty decent. All of their MMOs have AAA graphics and they should be cheaper to produce in China/SEA than the US.
