Marvelous idea

If that's representative it does seem to be coming along nicely, I imagine Kaliningrad must be gentrifying considerably to allow for this.

disguisting
we should destroy kaliningrad
place all ukrainian subhumans living here in tiny underground bunkers and build shitton of ICBM launch cites instead of these shitty buildings

It's like insane mayor of Yoshkar-Ola built those cargo-cult buildings in city center and now in gulag for that.

Looks better
We could do this in our own architecture styles, to our slums some day

Its cute that they try to disguise it as a human settlement

>Xiaomi в paccpoчкy
>Paccpoчкa нa любыe гaджeты

>Translation: offering to buy smartphones and other tech gadgets with installment plans

Heartening to see that it still is Russia.

Why couldn't commies build something beautiful? Sometimes i wonder if they we even good at anything but manufacturing weapons. It's like they didn't care at all that our cities look like grey mud puddles now.

I like it esthetics are better

meh, let's not go overboard on this fake facade thing, we still want some authentic architecture not Buenos Aires.

very nice, i like it

Anything is better than Ecatepec m8. Besides, I'm hypothetically talking about a very distant future, in which we could afford to waste our taxes in nonsense like this. Not now when we need to spend our resources in actually developing.

Several of the (now) comfy old European towns and cities look exactly like favelas if favelas had nice architecture.

literally anything is an improvement

I like soviet constructivism and stalinist architecture. Subway too.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalinist_architecture

I like European cities proper (inside the gates) you should see the outskirts of Madrid, Paris or London, they're legit Ecatepec tier.

They could and did until beginning of the "fight with architectural redundancy".

I've seen them. And they would all look better if they had nice facades instead of dirty grey bricks.

In Moscow they started to paint commieblocks or cover them with heat insulation. Cheap solution but still looks better.

You're wasting money on useless shit just to appeal to Europeans? We'll see you as subhuman anyways so what's the purpose

Painted gommieblock

Everything architecturally beautiful we have has been built, or at least designed, by some foreigner or another.
It's not even about communism, for some reason we've never been particularly good at visual arts, maybe not counting painters. Even our food looks like it's been swallowed and regurgitated by someone prior to being served. We can distinguish beautiful from ugly or tasteless, but can not create beautiful things ourselves.

piss off Hans

Why would you build somerhing "beautiful" when it's uneffective and basically a waste of money. Commieblocks are neutral looking and perfectly fine. Don't listen to European retards.

your churches look good though, and it's entirely your own style

the issue with commieblocks isnt the looks, its the neglected maintance, it was built as a quick and cheap solution for housing fresh families, kinda like american cardboard houses

but they need better insulation, better windows, better heating system, better plumbing, better electric network to handle all the new devices without causing a fire

it doesnt matter if you repaint them, the problem is inside, you put sugarcoating on a turd, its still gona be a turd

is everywhere here a child? who cares what it looks like if its functional

your surroundings have a psychological effect o, you

if you live in a dirty shithole for years this affects your mind, we have shithole in Europe too look at Frankfurt or Charleroi or many British hellholes

Fair enough but different circumstances do aply, Ecatepec isn't commieblocks and you're not going to fix it without tearing down a lot of stuff and building anew.

> it's entirely your own style
It's not. they poorly copied byzanie style.

That's why I specified a really distant future when we could afford to waste money in nonsense. Just a fun what if. I'm just tripping m8, nothing serious.

>is everywhere here a child? who cares what it looks like if its functional

speak for yourself

glad I live in pic related again,

wat. there are no problems with heating, plumbing, electricity. windows were all replaced to plastic ones in 90's.
Some commieblocks have shitty heat insulation, it's still warm inside but a lot of heat was wasted, that's why they cover them in those heat insulation materials.
Khruschevkas are bad but they are all being demolished in Moscow(thousands were already demolished). And would be demolished in other cities too.

Form and function do go hand in hand, architecture that can't acomodate both to a reasonable degree is worthless. We are talking living spaces not industrial storage.

I live in building on the front and I like it. Give commie feels.

true it's origins are Byzantine, like our churches have Latin or Gothic origins, nothing wrong with that, over time it gets its own signature though

it's literally 1 block

second one is gaudy as fuck. plastered facades are superior.

You are ignorant in this matter. It is not a Byzantine style, the differences between the Russian style and Byzantine are immediately visible to the naked eye.
Russia took from Byzantium only the basic scheme (cross-dome). The rest of the Russian architecture is an independent development in Russia.
You will not find anything even closely simmilar to Kizhi or stone medieval russian churches in the Balkans / Anatolia

It does look comfy, the scale is pretty amazing.

I'm not dissing everything, your pic looks nice and clean.

Some weird modern things like Chess City Elista in Kalmykkia are nice too.

very nice

does anyone know of any research that links mental wellbeing and perception of being happy with nicer architecture, more greenery etc?

Bit of a kitschy LARP but anything is an improvement when we're talking about commieblocks.

On a side note, I'm so glad that almost all of our taxes go to Moscow so it can look this good. Moscow, you are our pride!

Wtf alexander, st. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful citys in europe

...

That's not how taxation works. They are paid in region. Most regions are on donations anyway. Moscow produces a lot of stuff and most R&D is concentrated there and pays a lot of taxes itself.

Most money actually goes to the North Caucasus

no more than 1% of all the commieblocks in kaliningrad will look like that anyway

>citys
>finn dosn't speak english perfectly
russian disapora detected

post comfy russian commieblocks

...

...

...

...

Peter wanted to build a "European" city. In order to do that he had to either teach Russian architects to build in European style or to invite European architects themselves so that they could teach Russians. Among the first chief architects there were a lot of famous foreigners, Russians caught on later on:
Carlo Rossi, Antonio Rinaldi, Domenico Trezzini, Auguste de Montferrand, Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli

...

Fuk öff poolan

Uh-huh. Why doesn't Moscow just free itself from this insufferable yoke? Have an independence referendum, Moscow, please. I would even fight for you on your barricades so you could liberate yourselves from the filthy *zamkad'ye* that ungratefully lives off your generosity

I hope the same for Saint-Petersburg

I like it

>your pic looks nice and clean.
maybe because the photo was taken from as far from the buildings and roads as possible, and also filtered?

It's clean there. There are hordes of janitors and roads are cleaned all the time.

m8 I'm going to Bruges at the beginning of December
rec me some places

not bad

looks whatever

Very nice.

Looks nice

Commieblocks exist everywhere from Chile to Finland, it's not an exclusive feature of Socialist nations. Architects in the 50s to 70s had a preference for big, imposing buildings.

Thats reconstruction done right

How its done here, on the other hand...

...

Yes, those evil comm... oh, no, this is France.

This is sad

>slavs are the new germans
every day we stray further from the light

Then look at this ugly comm... ah, this is Utrecht.

Such primitive architecture could never appear on the land of free... errr, never mind!

This is larping, like WE WUZ GERMAAANS N SHIEET

They just want nice looking buildings.

The German still butthurts about Koenigsberg

German architecture native to Kaliningrad, mate

>Why would you build somerhing "beautiful"
>who cares what it looks like if its functional
Have you noticed that eastern euros are much more melancholic than other nations? you think it has anything to do with incredibly grey and depressing looking shitholes they call home? it's one thing to see those photos in some thread on Sup Forums and go >muh comfy, its another thing to spend your entire life in grey and mud. Humans are not some perfect rational creatures, our surroundings shape and affect us and our psyches

Thats not a commieblock

But it does look much better

Oh god, those pastel colors everywhere you look. I constantly feel like I'm in a state sized asylum or a retirement home.

the slav fears the colors

I support this 100%

Commieblocks are simply giant canvases

...

Should we rename it into Korolowiec?

Because all the Köningsberg larping is dangerous. Even in instagramm they write Kaliningrad-Köningsberg.

...

Its Konigsberg you dumb commie

Not a big problem, the same thing as St.Petersburg-Leningrad, Krasnodar-Yekaterinodar, etc.

Two placards next to each other sugesting to get into debts in order to buy simple tech gadgets make it Kaliningrad after all.

Great, it seems that Russia has to be a really nice place to live in

>is dangerous
How? It’s always been the city name, and Kalinin is a butcher of ethnic Russians. Nothing to discuss.

You want it to be named in a Polish manner? Flood it with jews, gypsies, tatars and armenians first.

Everything commie be it a symbol, statue or name must be purged

...

Really looks great.
Actually replicate very well the whole Hanseatic League thing.
Mehhh
But you are right, looks better now. Maybe some windows adorns and a little bit of art nouveau?
>It's not. they poorly copied byzanie style.
It's called byzantine revival, m8.
This commie block pleases my autism. (seriously, looks pretty nice)
This is gore. (it's not illegal to disfigure old buildings?)
FUCK BAUHAUS!
Nice.
I bet that at the spring it actually looks much more alive and colorful with trees.
It's a good solution to fill the plain walls with paintings. But keep it must be expensive...

Awesome, I wish we did it with commie blocks too. In more fitting local style of course.

>Everything commie be it a symbol, statue or name must be purged
lol, another schoolboy, waiting for his 10,000 euros from the ECHR

this is nice, I wish we'd do the same and make shit look like our 18th century architecture again
