Football is cool because genetics isn't the most important part of the game. It's skill based. Of course you have to be skilled since birth but still all kinds of people can be good

Baby first week at Sup Forums.

Fuck off, dude. Hues like you are so obnoxious. I'm here on this site for a long time already. Stop acting like you the snowflake hue. Contribute something to the thread. Stop shitting up threads with your shit, please.

this is true. I think it could be argued that you still need the right genes to get to the very top of the sport (ie. no faulty joints, no serious diseases/disorders, muscles that heal quickly, etc.) but even people with a few genetic "flaws" could manage a professional career in some role if they're determined enough

Kkkkkkkkkk vc eh chato pra caralho

>football is skill based
you just need to be a quick nigger

well yeah fuck basketball

>hey you tall guy come join the NBA

france is slowly learning there is more to it

Basketball is skill based too

Yes, but it's quite easy to develop if compared to Football, seriously, any 2 meters tall freshman in High School could start trainning BBall and still make it into the NBA. This would never happen in Football.

Skill based but you still have to be above 1.90 to be comptetitive.

(I know there are shorter players that that but are the exceptions)

>6'2"

Pretty much just a normal make height

Yeah but they would just be a rubbish centre getting about 5 mins per game.

Plus it does happen in football too, any pacy goalhanger can go from nothing to winning titles given the right team, just look at Vardy and Klose

Hakeem started playing Basketball when he was 15 years old, name one Football player that started this late.

Klose didn't turn pro till 20

But he started playing Football much earlier, that's for sure. Not to mention that I meant a Football player relevant to the sport like Hakeem was to Basketball.

He started playing football when he was 8.

80's basketball doesn't mean shit, tall players aren't even stars now and are pretty much going extinct

Football is far more genetics based than basketball which is why combine numbers are more important in football than in basketball. The ability to generate extraordinary amounts of power is purely genetic and a requirement for almost every position in football besides kicker, punter and qb. In basketball you don't even have to be the tallest or the highest leaper. Spud Webb won the slam dunk contest at 5'6, stephen curry is only 6'3 and magic johnson only had a 30" vertical. Basketball is truly the greatest sport ever invented.

...

oh wait you mean soccer just lol if america's top football and basketball players moved to soccer they's utterly dominate the sport. soccer is piss easy and boring. america's sports programs don't recruit their top athletes into soccer. only gomers play soccer here

>oh wait you mean soccer just lol if america's top football and basketball players moved to soccer they's utterly dominate the sport. soccer is piss easy and boring. america's sports programs don't recruit their top athletes into soccer. only gomers play soccer here

It's not. The greats in football are good since they're literal kids. You can't dominate it with pure strength alone. You have to have footwork and dribbling skills.
youtube.com/watch?v=LmmN1vo80YQ

Americans should stop underestimating the skill necessary to play football. Even some basketball players respect

Handegger playing soccer:

*even some basketball players, like Kobe, respect the skill in soccer

Vardy?

I think it's much rarer to find someone who never played football by 15 than someone who never played basketball until 15.
At least in Europe and other areas where soccah is big/biggest.

It's incredibly hard to find someone who has never play footy.
Also Hakeem was already a sportsman before he began playing basketball, I think all the good late starters were already well conditioned athletes well before they started playing basketball.
People who have never played soccah here in the Netherlands were either sickly or too fat.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Salcido

This Mexican is a very late starter.

Americans are very serious about their sports which explains why late starters are able to play in the US. If you're scouted then you will have a lot of funds and professional training behind you.
That means as long as you have talent you will have a top coach behind you. That way you can become good at a sport even at a relatively advanced age.

Yeah but Hakeem was one of the best centers of all time, if not the best, this Salcido is a literal who.
Plus, if it was possible to become one of the best footballers of all time even if you started to play in your teenager years, this would have already happenned.

>if it was possible
>this would have already happenned.
Why?

Pretty much everyone has played football at one point, at least in the countries were football is big.
Those late starters aren't happening because they don't exist.

would never happen. You could make that move today and it would take more than 50 years.

>Make one stupid ass post
>Hey why not double down and make another

>hues like you
>hues like (you)

Klose isn't as relevant as Hakeem? LMAO

Still hurt about 7-1? Baboon

...

god manute bol was a freak

what's his son up to, Bol Bol

>double down
in what way is that doubling down? soccer is a sport for lames. im loling it's even being discussed on a sports board.

>it's not a sport if you don't get cte

t. manlet

Pure shooters are raised wrong and are the real basketball players, i.e. the type that gets respect from other lifelong players. Freaks with long arms and jumping abilities are cool to watch, but for most leagues it's all about situational awareness and skillful ball handling/shooting which you need to learn at a young age to be really good.

>soccer is a sport

Has any downhill skiing coach or hockey coach or tennis coach ever been able to just show up in some country, look for the tallest or widest or smallest or whatever condition someone was born into, signed the guy up for a profession in a sport he'd never trained in before and made a career out of it?

Sports that require the most skill:
1. Hockey
2 Downhill skiing
3. Tennis

Explain why it isn't. It requires skill with the ball (dribbling, ball control, precision to pass the ball, footwork). It requires stamina. It requires being in shape. Players decline past their 30s. You can run as fast as wish. You jump to head balls and you can get hurt (broken legs, head kicks, cuts, knees explode, etc..).

>no hand to eye coordination
>sport

So what Usain Bolt does isn't a sport according to you?

I think if kids are given a free choice, they naturally choose football.
I bet gym teachers in the US have to hope that kids don't find the stash of footballs they've got in the closet. They probably write home to parents begging them not to let their kids watch football.
Corporations probably put pressure on average gym teachers to make them hide football and instead force the kids to play one of the lame corporate American sports that LITERALLY NO ONE ELSE cares about.
Poor kids.

I played baseball, football, basketball, was good enough to play d1 college baseball, and tried to pick up hockey at 16 on a whim and was hilariously awful after spending a year trying to learn it and hardly saw ice time on a team that went 2-31 in an area bereft of talent(Ohio). If you don't start hockey by the time you are learning to tie your shoes, you're not going to be good at it.

no, it's a competition like a hot dog eating contest or race walking

Define "sport", please.

Literally, guys who can't play for shit will get center jobs on bad teams as long as they're 7'5".

That striker who went from Sevilla to Milan, he was selling bus tickets at 21 or something

Sport is defined by its characteristics such as hand eye coordination and athleticisim that of which soccer requires little or none of. Your best player is as slow as an obese nfl linemen.

shittiest definition I've ever seen. Also arbitrary that you put so much emphasis on hand eye coordination. Soccer requires athleticism. Stop being foolish.

You should bear in mind that footballers run with the ball at their feet.

This guy could've played handegg if he wanted to:
youtube.com/watch?v=1LW87rPBVCk
prove me wrong. protip: you can't

Not that guy, nor do i agree with him, Ronaldo is too small for handegg, what position would he play where he wouldn't be BTFO?

Trindon holliday is smaller than messi and he played handegg while Ronaldo is 6 feet

Not on the NBA. Especially true now that the era of the dominant center is over.

I don't mean height, I mean weight. Holliday was 170lbs when he played at 5'5, same as Ronaldo at 6'2, he would get broken as a slot receiver.

Trindon Holiday: 5 ft 5 in
Ronaldo: 6 ft 0 in

Football requires a lot of running that's why he was skinny. If he played handegg he would obviously gain a lot of muscle mass

The main point is that there are many great athletes that come the NFL without American football experience. There aren’t many that end up making it as a receiver. They call them “track guys.” Receivers need to be fast and strong, but also able to catch a ball and take a hit, over and over, and not drop the ball. If they are huge guys, this will help. If they are small like Ronaldo, it’s more difficult.

He'd look like this but with more muscles

>6'2
are we talking about the same ronaldo (6ft 0)? I'm talking about the brazilian ronaldo. A tank. The portuguese ronaldo is a diva. I like to call him Cristina

Average height of an nba player has been 6-7 for about 50 years now, it's just meme heights aren't as much. There's only like a dozen dudes under 6 foot in the NBA now either. Height in basketball wipes out 90% of the potential talent pool.

Very, very few athletes could excel at another sport at an elite level no matter what. Same goes for our guys and this notion you could plug in basketball and football players on a soccer field and it's work. We'd be at least good at soccer if it was focused on here, but it would be an entirely different set of players.

that just means that soccer is closer to e-sports than it is to a real athletic competition

NBA used to list players barefoot height and there were a lot of players who were taller than listed like 6'4 Jerry West. (Listed 6'2)
Since the 70s players have been listed at their shoe height, most listed heights today are in modern thick basketball shoes.
6'6 Charles Barkley is only 6'4.5 for example.

Either way tall is still an advantage, but it is no longer as big of an advantage.
Sure 5'9/10 manlets are still on the decline in the NBA but while the USA has on average grown by an inch since the 1960s(Even with the influx of Hispanic manlets), height in the NBA has been constant despite that. And despite listed heights being in shoes these days.

Eric Bailly didn't play football until 15 and only joined a club at his 17th.
He's a Manchester United CB.

>Sports that nobody watches

1. Hockey
2 Downhill skiing
3. Tennis

Goalkeepers in soccer use hand eye coordination , btfo

Once again, it's good because it's popular.

Imagine living in dull ass monoculture that this is the only thing that you can even comprehend.

>watching a sport with variance on the level of Hockey

May as well watch Omaha hi-lo

>Also arbitrary that you put so much emphasis on hand eye coordination
No it isn't. The hand is the most articulate and skillful piece of the human body. It's the mind's best suited extension hence why we use our hands the most for skill based tasks.
>You should bear in mind that footballers run with the ball at their feet.
This is easy. The ball is just an extension of your feet. This is why it's a preferred sport for uncoordinated preteen girls all over America. And you kick the ball through an 8 yard wide goal with one guy trying to stop you. Try making a layup over a 7 foot tall 300 lb Shaquille Mutombo in a tiny ass hoop that's 10 feet up in the air and then talk.

To be fair, making a penalty is easier than a free throw.

I'll admit being a goalie is more intensive than doing LISS cardio and kicking a ball around for an hour and a half.

>England youth recruiter tier reasoning

>what is a goalkeeper

is that it? lol

Has that nigger ever eaten in his life?

Didn't you pay attention in biology? The dark skin means they photosynthesize all visible light.

For centers it's as big of an advantage as ever. If you can set screens and rebound you've got a job in the NBA. You don't need any modicum of basketball skill other than that.

Something like 10% of all the 7 footers in US history were NBA players.

Works at the u-21 level...all you need to do is give the people hope, not results right?

Doesn't your picture go against your point about the importance of genetics? Two people with very different genetics are both professional, so genetics can't be the whole game.
In before black vs white genetics.

Is that Earl Sweatshirt?

so bowling?

The small guy is a freak of nature and he still had a disadvantage compared to the big guys.

There's not a single place in the world where 190cm is the average male height
The Dutch men barely reach 184cm on average

Fpbp

The small guy had the better career than the big guy in that picture. Among the best ten players today, only maybe one or two is 7 feet tall, the rest are gifted enough to outclass 7 feet players. Last year MVP is only around 6 feet.

height is overrated in the nba. the reason the best players are the best is because of their knowhow for the game and their skills. you have a few athletic freaks of nature like a lebron in terms of strength and speed, and a durant in terms of height and length, but they would be out of the league if they werent skilled. theres plenty of 7 foot tall guys who have played all their life who get no mins on shitty european teams, let alone in the nba, so height means very little without having skill.

the most stacked position right now in the nba is point guard where the average listed height is around 6'2 - which in reality is 6'0 when you account for inflation, rounding up, and wearing shoes in their measurements. and 6'0 is bordering manlet tier so that tells you a lot

yes but, let's use that image in a football situation: short guy would have a lot more easier time moving around and putting offbalance the tall guy, making being short a big advantage and being that tall a huge disadvantage

>6'0 is bordering manlet tier
worst meme. Let's take your country for example. The average height is
>177.0 cm (5' 9.7")

and that 5'9.7 is at least 6'0 in the nba

You just know this alien looking niggers legs are going to snap in half the moment he runs down the court. Black people always have gruesome leg injuries.

>Something like 10% of all the 7 footers in US history were NBA players.

This was never studied.

The data was extrapolated and also under the assumption that listed heights are true.

>England and France mentality
Meanwhile Germany wins world cup, Spain wins world cup, Italy wins.

>bowling
>athleticism
this logic is on the level of:
>foot-ball because kickers/punters

Brazilian logic right here.

It is obviously genetically based. Not just dependent on height but other genetic variables.

There's always an autistic cunt like you. I obviously meant physical dominance isn't the most important aspect.
