>the norm in the kitchen industry is arriving extremely early and leaving extremely late
>"can't do that", says mom
>can never make it on time and always have to leave early to tend to my family
>as a result, instructor sees me as hopeless and useless
He needed my help for an event, I said my mom won't let me leave early, he mocked me "good job, just stay there under her armpits"

It's a dilemma, bros. Cut off family and focus on the self, or take a break from the kitchen and just be a neet who helps around the house.

What the fuck you have to do in the morning that you can't leave early?
ask your mom of all you have to do, then wake up earlier, do all your chores, leave house early.
be a bitch to both you mom and instructor

Familial piety normally dictates the latter
that said, you're getting into an industry. A job. A thing that pays. Your alternative is to give up part of your income to compensate for you not being at home to do whatever it is you do.

I really don't have big dreams like most other people
I only wish to make the people I care about to be happy, and to find people I would fall in love with and devote myself, and make her happy for the rest of her live
I know this kind of thinking is wrong and only results in disappointments, as I've always ended up experienced, but I can't change myself

It's not that, but have you heard of janji melayu? My family's really really into it.
>Hey let's meet up at 5
>Sure
>*5 o'clock*
>Hey bro where you at?
>I'm just getting into the shower
I told them I needed to leave at 5.30 and hey it's okay I can walk to the station. They started bullshitting about it being "too early", "what about your prayer?" and "I can drive you" I gave in and had to follow their schedule. She told me we'll leave at 6am but come 6am I was ready to go but she was still in the shower

Does /asean/ know Doraemon?

It's been our Saturday night cartoon since early '00-s, I remember picking up mangas about him and his brothers(?)

Y'know what, I'm gonna look 'em up again. Maybe I need a new hobby, old school anime

Kiteretsu was also the popular anime among /asean/ kids in comparison. Do you watch TV3 for the cartoon programming block (be it for pure fun or nostalgia)?

Yes. But I like Chin-Chan better

>chin
Interesring, here it's Shin-chan

Oh not anymore, now I watch tv3 just for the news. Doraemon and Shin-chan aired on ntv7 but I honestly can't remember any toons on air on tv3 aside from dubbed western cartoons

>I honestly can't remember any toons on air on tv3 aside from dubbed western cartoons

Right now they're airing Naruto and Detective Conan as well

Of course, it was the first manga published Vietnam if i'm not mistaken, at around 1996.

Not a fan of it, but yes, Doraemon is big in ASEAN. We even have Tagalog translations of it.

>Mirmo Zibang
haha those cute little alien things
yeah I remember them and Conan, not really a big fan of Naruto eventhough it's the norm anime for us.

I don't like being associated with something just because of my own prejudice. Like, I can't really get into anime since they get labelled as weebs and pervs, stuff like that. So I just keep it down low and not talk about it.

Mirmo aired there? And no, they weren't aliens, but fairies that came out of mugs. I remember it being quite popular among kids back when HERO TV was new: I think that was even one of their very first shows.

Heading to the night market, whatchu guys want? I'm having mee kari and cendol

I used to watch Mirmo back when it was airing in my country and dubbed, I even bought the first few manga volumes but I didn't finish it in either format. I still liked the series though and the OP still stucks in my head.

>Timorese still speak Portuguese and is trying to make it more popular

I was asking the Malaysian user, not you.

Nasi ayam.

Will officially translated manga ever make appearance in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos despite being the least weeb ASEANs. I know that in Cambodia, anime such as Black Jack, Robotics;Notes and Love Live are all airing on some local public station. Not sure if they're dubbed in Khmer though, even if it's through voiceover.

>I was asking the Malaysian user, not you.
I know but still I had fond memories of that series anyway. Sorry for double reply.

you interested in Timorese culture?
cool

>fairies from mugs
wow those guys think of everything huh? aight gotta go to the night market ciao

Ines btfo ooooooooooooo

Not sure if anime is that popular there at the moment. I know at least one Japanese artist (a relatively unpopular one, though; can't remember the name), has been to Myanmar and Laos.

Indons did a lot of damage to the local culture though so they have to recover the use of their their historic languages and learn English.

Tetum is one of their official languages though and as far as I've read it's still used at home and in other functions. Portuguese is more of the language of the government and business, much like English here. Also, apparently many Timorese also understand Indonesian, as a sort of lingua franca with their neighbors.

>many Timorese also understand Indonesian
They forced them to learn it during the occupation and attempted to snuff out both Portuguese and Tetum. Indogs and their bloodlust.

>I know at least one Japanese artist (a relatively unpopular one, though; can't remember the name), has been to Myanmar and Laos.
What's his artstyle like?

By artist I meant singer. If I'm not mistaken, it was Aya Ikeda, but I may be wrong. All I remember is that it was a singer who appeared in Cosplay Mania in 2014 or so.

Yes, but it seems for practical reasons many people there still study it.

Why so surprised? Weebs are minority. Is it not true in Philippines?

bos pabrik mercon ternyata orang malaysia?

Not really here. Here, weebs are a minority, but they're a fairly big and loud one (probably 1/3 or 1/4 of the population). I suppose in Singapore the percentage is higher considering the quality of their events and how rich they are.

Been watching TV. Do Thai people believe that their late king litterally was a god or are they just larping.

The late king was a unifying factor for the Thais throughout much of their turbulent history. It's hard to understand if you're not Thai, but he was genuinely loved by everyone for providing them a sense of stability during the times of coups and military government. They don't believe that their king is divine: on the contrary, under the Thai constitution he has limited powers, but the king is the symbol of their nation.

Kali ini korbannya lebih banyak daripada bom thamrin.
wwkwkwkwk

dari mana berita yang punya malaysia?

The conception of Thai monarchy is similar to Japan's: he is the god king

No it's not. Neither the Emperor of Japan nor the King of Thailand are currently held to be divine.

Why is the Philippines so religious?

Spaniards.

Is Senior Highschool a thing?

But spaniards of today aren't religious, why can't the Philippines follow suit?

Is it true that it's common for Malaysians and Indonesians to drink, even though drinking is technically haram?

Yes. It's two years where you get to choose a track that's somewhat related to what you want to take up in college. Theoretically you're allowed to go straight to work from SHS.

Europe has gotten more secular due to various factors, like wealth and the existence of an established church. Meanwhile, over here, many are still poor, and religion tends to be more popular among people with lower incomes and lower education. Also Southeast Asia in general is rather religious.

Currently in Grade 12 here.

Flips on average have low IQ + high EQ making them easy prey for pedophilic clergymen.

When you have a family of your own and daughters you will understand.
Religion basically justifies conservativism in a delusional way.
And why would they follow them?
Is 300 years of cultural destruction wasn't enough

Plus its the more conservative Protestants and Evangelical cult tier churches are growing.
Like the INC

Well look at who won the presidency.
That tells alot.

>Religion basically justifies conservativism in a delusional way.
Not all religions are conservative. Catholicism in Europe, as well as Mainline Protestantism are actually the liberal end of the spectrum; many of them have no problems with evolution, many are against capital punishment, and some even allow women to be ordained. Religion is a large umbrella and it's hard to generalize considering how varied beliefs can be in one religion (i.e. Christianity or Islam), let alone all of them.

>INC
>Protestant
They're not, Protestants still believe in the trinity, and their defining feature is sola scriptura (Bible alone) and sola fide (Faith alone). INCs, as they don't believe in the trinity, are grouped under the Nontrinitarians instead.

The ones we are getting here is form America not Europe
You are collerating their actions than what they preach.

They're a cult LARPing as Protestant born again evangelicals to justify their existence
Either way they belong in that category

>Religion basically justifies conservativism
I was referring to this. It's true in many, but by no means all cases.

>Protestant
>born again
>evangelical
INCs aren't any of those things. Besides, over here, born again is more-or-less synonymous with evangelical. Can confirm: my thesis was about them.

It is what it is we are all just looking for a organization that will teach our daughters not to be a slut

Again like I said they're a cult LARPing as one of those
They change their doctrine to appease whatever their area or what ever they are being criticized with
I have INC relatives they would even larp as jehovas witness

Also when I said part of that category

It also means the cult churches that are growing.

Well to be fair, the born again churches I went to for my thesis seemed normal and not cult-like. The born-again Christians I know in real life also don't act like they're in a cult.

In your eyes maybe

>common
not really, the average Malay stays away from pork, alcohol, and dogs. Like, being seen touching one will instantly make you public enemy number one since there's a lot of prejudice over it.
Hell, I drink malt and I still get the stink eye since it's made by Guiness.

Oh yeah, my night market's nasi ayam only got ayam percik and they weren't done grilling it yet so none for you
