Ulver have the only black metal albums I've really enjoyed
any recs?
The definition of masterpiece.
I love the first three Ulver albums. What do you like about them? Here is something pretty nice.
overproduced tourist metal
I’m still a wee bit of a fag who can’t stop sucking Varg off
I love hvis lyset tar oss. Something about it is otherworldly and spooky as shit, and it brings uncompromising structures throughout.
>Let's copy Burzum, that'll make us trve!
>any recs?
Don't be so narrow-minded.
they don’t copy burzum at all. They incorporate heavy metal riffs and are melodic as fuck, for scrubs. They are glorified power rock with a mish mash of black metal elements.
Uh, that's the point, they do their own thing. But don't worry, you'll get a hang of this "greentext" thing soon enough. Also there's nothing wrong with melodies and mixing other genres into black metal. Even Varg did it.
Varg made the most grimdark, progressive, beautiful melodic riffs imaginable. Nocturnal Mortem have soulless silly gimmick riffs, heavy metal riffs, and recycled power black riffs, with non-stop shallow vamping, and folk scales. Fuck it.
Sure.
are you honestly disputing any of that, you fucking poser? And their vocals suck, and their basic rock song structure all the time is embarrassing.
I am. It's quite clear that you're either trolling, haven't listened to Nokturnal Mortum or think that there's only one way to play black metal.
this is growing somewhat interesting. It is rather atmospheric and tastefully incorporates industrial
Hail kpn
I know you’re just a stupid easymode scrub who doesn’t into any actual black metal, because it’s real and challenging. I guess that is Nocturnal Mortem’s target audience.
They're very melodic and folky
I guess I mostly liked them because of how accessible they were considering I'm not really into the genre but I'll check that out.
they are very melodic, but technical as shit. Such original melodic tremolo, and layers of intelligent instrumental harmony. Very heartfelt drive throughout, and no shortage of nuanced techniques non-stop, and eloquently abrupt transitions. And they bridge the gap between completely raw and completely clean production with just enough distortion to sound dense and chaotic, but marvelous and immaculate defined.
immaculately*
Or, or, hear me out, maybe my preferred adjective to describe the music I want to listen is "good" rather than "challenging". For example it's a real challenge to listen to SoundCloud rappers and that's not a good thing. Also Gnaw Their Tongues and "actual black metal" in the same post? That's a bit rich.
But for the sake of argument, are these actual black metal or easy mode garbage:

Opeth sort of
thousand swords is overrated dad black metal with good vocals, clandestine blaze is tryhard easymode poser, and hate forest is decent but nothing special
Opeth is death metal for gigantic pussies.
Ok, that's it, opinions disregarded with no chance of redemption.
each of those bands have way better albums than the ones you posted. you clearly don’t even understand why they are band. grind music more.
bad*
for fucks sake user get it together!
Well yeah, Immortal Pride is way better than Thousand Swords but weren't you against easy listening?
immortal pride is kind of cozy. easy =/= bad
just because it’s easy doesn’t mean it’s shallow. I’m not a fan of graveland’s shameful decent into pagan rock, mind you.
descent*
You're saying this is shameful?

Do you also hate neofolk, because it's not black metal?
you really can’t tell that that is not very deep or moving at all? It’s obviously not technical or overly proficient, but I know you don’t care about that. There’s honestly not much for me to criticize, it’s just hella mainstream.
>but it makes me feel good!
I guess my point is, there are much much better bands, making much better music, and I would rather listen them. also I don’t listen to neo-folk, because it is not black metal.
Genre defying with black metal elements. Death metal is better than black metal fuck you
genre defying in that it’s death metal with bitch vocals. anyone who sincerely thinks death is better than black is only concerned with technicality, or in your case, is a gigantic normie that’s never listened to black metal.
Black metal isn't heavy or hard enough
It's like trance metal
gosh ikr
There is no such thing as God-tier Black Metal and you all should be ashamed for posting itt.
Xasthur
>youtube.com
You like deicide?
the only good deicide is the self-titled deicide, which is great, but I also sorta like to hell with god, and the stench of redemption for being such a modern blend of metal. Most deicide is pretty bad
Wutain and bishop of hexen
That's just a rip off of master of puppets.. how did Metallica not sure them when they sued the world and Napster?
Black, like in Bodycount?
early xasthur is pretty neato, real eerie clever shit
why are the french so fucking good at this
deathspell omega is so dynamic and engrossing, with fucking crazy in your face motivation
Anything from Inquisition. Saw them live a few years ago open up for Mayhem. Awesome show
I feel like that one is a little rusty, and hasn’t aged well, but this one is perfection
Inquisition have awesome fucking vocals, but their riffage is sorta generic and weak, and they aren’t very diverse.
I love this album. It has the most majestic use of tremolo picking, and really nails it’s own aesthetic.
Botanist - IV:Madragora

War metal is the most patrician of metal.

Punishing as fuck
this is very vocally driven.. and the vocals are just about average. not terrible
....is trash
Want to give this a listen, now. Saved the pic.
