The 2018 Unibet Masters ends today with the last 8 this afternoon and the semis and final tonight.
The afternoon kicks off with a rematch of a wonderful 2017 UK Open quarter-final between "Scottish" clown Peter Wright and Dutch legend Raymond van Barneveld. That game saw both men average over 108 over 18 legs, with Wright coming out on top. Barney was pushed to the brink by Dave Chisnall while Snakebite was never really troubled by Alan Norris; this should be a far more sterner test for the UK Open champ. Current World Champion Rob Cross is up next against reigning Champions League of Darts winner Mensur Suljovic. Voltage was just too much for Ian White to cope with, while the Gentle's exemplary early finishing put Michael Smith away. Two wildly different stage personalities then clash in over-celebrating Welsh roidlet Gerwyn Price and the far more reserved Gary Anderson. The Iceman took advantage of Daryl Gurney being intimidated by his roaring to defeat him, whereas the Flying Scotsman produced the worst winning performance after luckily getting a terrible Benito van de Pas, and repeating that 91 average will see him get sent back to Somerset by Price. Closing the last 8 are Michael van Gerwen and James Wade; despite averaging under 90 in the last 6 legs of his clash with Kim Huybrechts, MVG showed that his Worlds surrender is behind him. The Machine will need another Classic Wade performance, as he produced yesterday to eliminate Simon Whitlock, to dethrone the three-time Masters champion.
Coverage starts at 12:45pm UK time on ITV4.
