Was it even that good?

Was it even that good?

Mahershala deserved his Oscar. I don't think the movie deserved Best Picture though.

>films that women will NEVER understand

Yes. An actual deserving Best Picture winner. Way better than Reddit Land and Memechester by the Sea.

A solid 7 by classical art cannons

You cannot deny it's also a thick oscar bait, the main character is poor, black and gay

It was alright give it a 7/10
OP you were the only man that ever touched me

It was good, but not particularly spectacular when compared with similar intimate scale low-stakes indie movies. Personally I thought MbtS was the better film.

yes because 90% of all best picture winners are a slow placed character study with interracial gay sex

>MbtS was the better film
dude: middle class white good looking people in first world countries also have problems, believe me: the film

perfect type of oscar movie to be honest, very understated and humble.

i didn't get anything out of it though. Better than when hurt locker, crash, the artist, or Chicago won

You can't deny that there's certain themes that the Oscar judges are into.

>tfw able to appreciate all of these and would have been happy if any were awarded

far above the rest desu, god dam I still have no idea how hacksaw ridge got nominated

Everyone who says the artist is shit hasn't seen it.

i´ll admit that, a movie about a black person´s hard life has won before. (see 2013) and there have been slower films too (see 2007) but it´s not ¨thick oscar bait,¨ like la la land or manchestor was

(You)

I've seen it, it was forgettable and drawn out

Better than La La Land, musicals are shit

No the Indian dude in Lion deserved it. Mahershala was barely in this and definitely did not showcase an Oscar-worthy performance.

It was the epitome of oscar bait

Sweeney Todd is quite good

>not schindler's list

I think Moonlight deserved the win, but Crash and 12 Years a Slave did not.

Literally Gay Nigger Faggot From The Hood :The Motion Picture :Oscar Bait Edition

This. I refuse to watch this shit.

and you'd rather watch chinese cartoons about paedos

A gay oppressed nigger that is also a faggot repressed homosexual, and is poor so deep...

Truly progressive truly to be remembered for generations to come as BRAVE in our utopian society without morality, laws, money, or borders just as Marx himself imagined...

will have a real oscars next year? or will the ante be upped and a tranny nigger movie wins? or a tranny in a wheelchair with autism?

It was one if those movies that leaves so many blanks open for the viewer to fill in that by the end they've written the story themselves. Therefore when the credits roll the narcissistic amongst them congratulate themselves on a job well done because heaven forbid there's any humility in the world.

It was "ok". I thought memechester was better but only slightly.

La la land was just awful

t. sjw

awful. one of the worst 'best picture' winners ive ever watched

It was pretty great, soundtrack was amazing.

Best scene was the beach handjob.

It was incredibly dull and forgettable.

because its better than all 3 of those reddit movies

I'm a fucking socialist
And even I can tell you that the economical class that the movie features doesn't have any bearing on the quality of the film

la la land was girl bait since they got to see a musical. I never heard of the sea movie.

memelight was literally a broke nigger faggot gangbanger flick that was designed to not make any box office money but win the oscar

Crash was utter dogshit
The type of movie that an upper middle class clintonista thinks is a good spotlight on ""racism""

...

You talking shit about musicals son?
Because if your using Lala land as your basis for musicals your fucking wrong and need to watch the greatest flick of the past 50 years
Jesus Christ Superstar

I dont really watch musicals since i am not a fag nor a woman.

I did go to catholic school so I did see JCS

>black kid grows up in memeami with druggie parents
>becomes insanely gay and gets handjobs from some guy named kevin
>final parts of movie are just him selling drugs and having wet dreams about kevin
Fucking lame tbqh

Nicely shot but boring, would not spend any money on this.

Is anything ever "that good?" Is "best picture" just a curse to have your movie seen as "overrated" for the rest of time? Hype is the death of enjoyment

It didn't blow my mind or change my life, but it was a pretty good movie. It was worth 2 hours of my time. I probably never would've seen it or heard of it if not for the Oscar attention, so it's a good thing it was up there

Not that good. My sister is a huge SJW and when I told her I just didn't like Moonlight that much she kept saying I surely must've not understood how DUDE DEEP LMAO it was.

The second act fucked the movie up completely. That's when it becomes apparent to the audiences that they are watching a silly movie, that it isn't real, and for a film like Moonlight that ruins it. The crazy evil remorseless bully was bad enough, but then they top it off with

>HEY DUDE LET'S GET HIS BEST FRIEND
>LIKE RIGHT AFTER THE HANDJOB
>AND REMEMBER A CRAZY OLD GAME HE USED TO PLAY
>AND THEN WALK ALL AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS
>AND PICK EXACTLY THIS PROTAGONIST FOR HIM TO PUNCH

That was the laziest possible way to set up his violent outburst. Fucking shameful.

It was a shit year for movies. We need to bring back large scale epics

why don't you watch it and find out for yourself?

What are you going to be doing for the next 90 minutes? shitposting on Sup Forums?

It was very good, but there were a few "artsy fartsy" decisions that sort of make it feel uneven. On one hand you have an incredibly intimate and small-scale story about one character.
On the other hand you have these transitions and musical moments and ending that all try to make things grandiose in a way that feels a little too film student. Those flashing lights in the transitions over a low rumble were a bit much.

I also take issue with the color scheme. Yes I get it, things cast in blue represent people's real nature and orange represents personas.
The entire movie does not need to be shot in blue and orange like every other movie on this earth does now, it's not meaningful enough in how it's used to counterbalance that.
Introduce more colors, more visual representations that allow for more interpretation. Simple color associations like blue=truth and orange=persona aren't that difficult.

It's like watching Hero except Hero went so far with the color metaphor that it makes the movie more interesting to look at even if it immediately betrays what's happening in the story.

It definitely deserved best picture over the others, but calling it perfect would be dishonest.
