because it's funny to dress up and party, we even celebrated St.Patrick's day this year :P

Shame on you greekbro
Leave this pagan fest to mongrels not to gods

Why not? They even celebrate it in Japan.

It's an american fest not properly european, sure it has celtic origin but still

They need something to celebrate these days.

You know why
Do americans really like their culture replacing others ? Because this is pretty fucking depressing
Were having american Christmas and halloween, who knows what fucking shit will be next

Corporations are pushing ameircan halloween on us so we would have TWO halloweens, our Croatian halloween takes place in February - grown-ass men don elaborate fursuits while kids go around trick and treating and all that stuff. And you can never sell enough candy I guess. It's just an opportunity to make more money, praise capitalism!

An excuse to get wasted.

In the UK we're already getting Black Friday sales at big stores even though it makes no sense.

Sure, I know about people who dress up and get shitfaced cause why not, bit I have never seen anyone trick or treating around here.

What is an American christmas? And why Halloween is American?

Don't worry friend, we're taking over American holidays with our edgy aesthetics and fun alcohol fueled traditions, soon you'll be celebrating Mexican holidays

>Wah, American are using OUR culture, muh appropriation!
>Wah, we are using American culture, muh imperialism!
Europe is a baka

It was brought by irish diaspora in the us
Then the fest changed to the version we sadly know today

No, you don't. Future America is Mexicans with English culture intact.

theres a catholic event called all saints day on nov. 1.

>mfw australian culture literally becomes shrimp on the barbie
well, we didn't have much to begin with

>Implying Americans can resist piñatas and churros

>Ancient Origins of Halloween.
>Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1.
>France
fucking idiot frog it started with your smelly people

halloween is ours though

Do piñatas and churros have BBC or 10000 calories or both?

I feel like something similar is happening with the Oktoberfest spreading to other countries recently but I don't think it's quite as widespread as with American holidays

Man, piñatas are literally filled with candy, churros are pastries, is this like a trick question? You can make very fun adult versions of both if that's what you're into

because they dont know the reality

kys

wait what? is there a European Christmas or European Halloween?

>Seville
>37ºC average highs in July/August
>Europe

Cultural appropiation. Something Americans are very proficient in.

Because it comes from my country from over thousands of years ago, why are you and everyone else appropriating my culture so your whores can get fucked by dressing as a nurse.

because your people came here and brought it
your people are our people whether you like it or not

>your people are our people
No since I'm 100 percent Irish and the people over there are not and their future children won't be. This argument might have worked years ago when the first Irish people went over but certainly not anymore. You celebrating Halloween is like me celebrating the 4th of July of Thanksgiving.

>celebrating a satanic holiday
>ever

why doesnt it make sense?

Because black friday is after thanksgiving, an american holiday thats supposed to commemorate the pilgrims peace truce with the natives

but it is a thing in about a dozen countries already. doesn't need to be related to thanksgiving.

We imported a lot of stuff from the USA, at least in Spain. In the nineties we did this stuff already at school.

And your people are ours. Honestly, I don't understand the lack of "western" identity of Sup Forums. They said ten years ago that by nowadays we'd be all watching Chinese movies but it's not happening. Westerners are always going to influence one another.

thought we had no culture? why are euros so retarded

>And your people are ours.

I wouldn't quite say that but we're definitely both westerners and the massive hard on other Westerners have for our supposed demise and the rise of China is really sickening.

There's nothing wrong with Halloween since it isn't replacing or altering any pre-existing culture 2bh

Though it still worries me for some reason...

no history =/= no culture

On the other hand, it's not that we're being forced to have these festivities popularized by Americans. We see them and like them and so we do it too.

That French guy complains about his precious culture being destroyed by the American one, but the reality is that if his was so precious this wouldn't be happening. Jeez, the French are tiresome.

Welcome to globalisation. See you on Black Friday!

Shut up and take the shit

But they have history. It started in Europe but they continued it in the Americas on their own. And fairly interesting. 19th century in the USA was fascinating.

>America

>no history

LMAO fucking idiots

You faggots can talk all the ironic shit you want, but America's presence has been awesome throughout the world.

Shame about America not existing anymore though
>pic related

see >Do americans really like their culture
>their culture
>their culture

good post

This is good.
Pagan traditions are spreading back into Europe thanks to the infusion of micks into the US.

Even if it's commercialized, something is better than nothing.

>It started in Europe but they continued it in the Americas on their own.
Yeah, I think Americans and other New Worlders are treatly unfairly in this way. It's not like America just popped into being when the first settlers stepped onto the shore, who suddenly became "Americans" and lost everything European about them.

Modern paganism is faggotry like wiccanism and it can all get fucked.

What American presence has been globally awesome? Even this thread is full of shit. Halloween is a Celtic holiday, going door to door in costumes comes from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, and modern trick-or-treating was first recorded in Canada.
Like most of "your" achievements, there is little or nothing American about it at all.

Another Canadian jealous of America...

Modern Christianity is faggotry like setting up NGOs to help refugees.

Another uneducated American

Another arab terrorist.

Surely my jack-o'-lantern will keep the malevolent undead forest spirits at bay

What?

>grown-ass men don elaborate fursuits
fucking furries.

Monkey see monkey do, faggots. No one forced you to drink coca-cola, wear blue jeans, or celebrate Halloween

You're right that we have no claim to Irish culture, but Halloween has become distinctly American and whether you like it or not your grand-uncles brought it here

What part of it is distinctly American?

The candy, the binge drinking, and the shitty/slutty costumes

You think that candy, drinking, and costumes are from America?

You seem to have not noticed you are talking to A FUCKING LEAF.

Careful not to make the same mistake again.

>I knew this would be your response but yet here I am responding again

Too late

Not a single aspect of this holiday originates in America, not even the North American additions like candy, trick-or-treating, and carving jack-o-lanterns into pumpkins. I just don't understand. I get why something like cowboys are more associated with America than Mexico or South America, or why basketball is considered an American sport despite being invented by a Canadian. But I don't get Halloween as American, other than the fact that you celebrate it I cannot see any connection to the USA for this holiday. Maybe because you commonly feature it in popular films?

who gives a fuck, people just want to have fun.

This is a thread started by an American asking why Europeans celebrate a European holiday.

You act as if Halloween was some kind of super serious thing before American supremacy in the last 70 years. Halloween was bastardised long before America. Honestly Halloween in it's modern form is one of the few things I actually cherish about today's culture. In a digital age where everything is so sanitary and distant, I'm glad there is still one night a year where kids and adults alike dress up in bad costumes and socialise

Thanksgiving is just a harvest festival though and has been celebrated in Britain for centuries, it came over with British immigrants.

just shut the fuck up honestly. as if you care any more about the original pagan traditions that Halloween happened to evolve out of than someone from Timbuktu

>Why are Europeans celebrating holloween?
People like an excuse to party.

An American Christmas is an event that starts in September and lasts until around New Year's.

>British immigrants
Immigrants =/= colonists. Learn the difference, it may save your country

This, sadly

I asked a French friend of mine if he considered Disney Land Paris "cultural imeprialism". His response was "what? No. Noone thinks like that". You've lost, buckaroo.

Because even though Europeans think they're superior. They still watch Hollywood movies and want to do stereotypically "cool American/Anglo holidays". Faggots I tellz ya

youtu.be/jW9xRzh9GG4

If Varg talks about it, it's probably European.

I like Halloween as an event for nice decoration and dressing up and the girls dressing slutty, not a fan of the door knocking for candy though.

originally it was Scotish

It's a normie meme. People just dress up as sluts and go to party clubs no or bars. It's not kid friendly celebration.

>who knows what fucking shit will be next
Ramadan in france

they're pushing it in france too, with very little sucess so far
i'll be pretty mad if becomes a thing 2bh

>Wah, American are using OUR culture, muh appropriation!
as far as i know only asian american care about this, because they have no room to exist in a black/white/latino america.

>:P

Because normalfags are easily swayed by marketing

your "friend" (is he really your friend if you consider your relationship is about "winning" and "losing" because you have disneylands ? not only you are stupid but you are also not a friend at all) is right though, we have french restaurants n america, would i say we have french imperialism in usa ? no
no one cares about disneyland anyways, i went once as a kid and except the space mountain thing t was utter sht

I got drunk as fuck and hit on a slut for three hours but she took a taxi home anyway, halloween is just an excuse to do this.

The problem is you think halloween is culture.
