Cowboy Bebop

Why is this considered the greatest anime of all time? I'm only a few episodes deep, but I'm not seeing where all the critical acclaim stands.
Anyone able to illuminate as to why that is?

i'ts fun

Yeah but it's no Evangelion.

>Anyone able to illuminate as to why that is?
Nope. If you don't feel it, you don't feel it. Nothing wrong with that, just move one.

That's what he said.

Remember when anime threads got deleted on Sup Forums?

Remember when any threads got deleted on Sup Forums?

It's good. It has some very, very weak episodes that lead nowhere though.

Samurai Champloo is better at what CB attempted to be.

Greatest anime of all time right here bitch

I felt the same way at first.
It's not some grandiose magnum opus, it's just a great fun time following cool characters on their cool journeys with some cool music.

And also like said, Champloo did the same thing better

Wait until you get to the church episode. The main plot will kick in and you'll probably like it.

Pretentious trash.

Corgi's on drugs. That's all you need to know.

I'm like 5 episodes in and bored. I've only actually enjoyed two anime I've watched though tbf.

I've seen dozens of anime and The Animatrix is still my fave desu

>Why is this considered the greatest anime of all time?

It's not, it just has a handful of great episodes, but is otherwise disconnected, episodic rambling. It's an Sup Forums meme that Sup Forums are pleb for considering the best.

WOAH HEY! ALRIGHT! I think you already got OP's attention, calm down!

Evangelion is an insult to good anime. CB is very relaxed. The music is actually a big part of what makes it great.

I love himura kenshin

I would say it just happens to be on many people's top favorite anime list, I know its on mine.

Wait until Ballad. Then decide.

DUDE JAZZ LMAO

the disconnection is superficial; many hints about the relationships between the characters are dropped in each episode. Is just for people that like atmosphere, great music, no spoonfeeding, references, and stuff that makes sense at a second watch.

Space jazz is kino

Always saw it as more of a musical than a great adventure. Jazz is life.

>pretentious

not an argument

It's because it's the anime that feels the most like an American movie. It has a familiarity that people gravitate towards. Honestly I understand why people like it but I didn't like the way every episode was a self contained story, and I didn't particularly like any of the main cast apart from Spike.

Nigger the shit's just got style. It's a kung fu neo-noir eastern-western IN SPACE with the jazz sensibilities of abandoning traditional form whenever it suits you. On top of that its beautifully animated with fun world building, memorable characters, and a 10/10 soundtrack from Yoko Kanno.

Keep watching until it clicks

think of it this way OP

Naruto is the DBZ of this generation
One Piece is the Legend of Galactic Heroes of this generation
OnePunchMan is the Hokuto no Ken of this generation
Sword Art Online is the Rurouni Kenshin of this generation
Kiwaguro no Brynhildr is the Akira of this generation
Lain / Madoka is the Evangelion of this generation
Attack on Titan is the Berserk of this generation
and Kill La Kill is the Cowboy Bebop of this generation.

They're the same tiers, anyone that disagrees is just nostalgia-faggin

>you will never experience CB for the first time

it still hurts

I only watched it later in life.
It's overrated, the only thing which stuck for me was the real folk blues.
Also, I guess it's due to the futuristic themes which are turning into reality like transgender ism, cryogenic treatments, etc...

Is this the most retarded post on Sup Forums atm? I think it might be.

That shouldn't hurt, user. I'd love to watch it again for the first time too, but hurt would be if it got a shitty remake or ended on a cliffhanger that was never picked up.

Bebop is beautiful.

and also good action scenes and interesting concepts

Evangelion is an overrated piece of shit.

Watch till at least Fallen Angels. I don't remember which number it is. If you don't like Fallen Angels then you won't like the show.

It's boring as fuck

>tfw the one guy no longer moves like water
it was a sad feel

Anime is fucking gay.

>Comparing Wan Piss to LOGH

fuck off.

>It's overrated
That's a problem with your expectations user, and not the fault of the show.

church episode is where the kino starts?
i never understood why weebs keep jerking each other off about this show either
im not OP

THE REALLL FO--

>its not actually good but its something you feel is good

I do and I'm going to make this board completely unusable for him when he comes back for star wars 8 and game of thrones

Watching it now, it's pretty mediocre. Some of the episodes still hold up (Green Bird, the last ep, and the movie), but overall it's meh.

There was something about unwinding after school, having Adult Swim on late at night and watching right before passing out that made it really appealing back then. Fuck, pretty much all of AS anime was comfy.

Nothing has made me as happy as my first watch of Cowboy Bebop in the last 3 years. My life is a sad life

This

>if it got a shitty remake

i'm so happy CB is all over the place in terms of aesthetics, themes and genres that it can't be condensed into a movie or even adaptable to real life

No
You guys are just faggots
>i wont tell you why its good because i dont actually know why myself, its just something i feel.. like its an opinion i have or something

FAGGOTS kek

This, OP should instead rewatch Game of Thrones from the beginning to get super hyped for the new season!

>hur dur this
no youre a faggot weeb permavirg
see

this lol! he would never be able to understand anti-art trash that apes actual cinema both east and west like cowboy bebdora

Spike dies at the end.

Aww.. sweetie... who's your fave on game of thrones?

How old are you?

This show is acclaimed because it was first aired when anime was considered a niche thing and many parents were opposed to it by default, because Jews tried their best to demonise the medium. People thought of anime as either childish, cheaply produced crap or pornography. (which may be true lol) It paved the way for mainstream anime and it was also one of the last series ever that was made with cell animation.

>boring
The show's strong point is not to be non-stop action in your face or squeaky characters doing funny stuff. The main thing is to delve into the overall mood the show sets during the narration and to get to know the characters in deep. Over the course of the show, you will learn a lot about these characters on the ship. Where they come from, what their ambitions are, their memories and pains. It's more of a character study mixed with suspense, crime and action. It's also critical of society in some ways.

It also shows that life is not what you want it to be, and that just being a nice person is not enough to warrant you getting away from tough, life altering shit. The ending is pretty great too.

You should think of each episode as an individual story.

This kind of thing should actually be said more often in general.
If you don't feel it, you just don't, and move on. There probably will be some different thing that you could feel.

hate anime, but bebop, death note and kenshin was so fucking good

>that ed

>he wasn't dead all along

i tried watching it a few months back and couldn't get past 3 episodes

You're probably just to smart and mature for it user. It's okay.

>Why is this considered the greatest anime of all time?

Its not. You're just a toonami babby.

Not THE greatest anime of all time as many nerds try to tell you, but:
>Memorable characters
>Beautiful and believable world-building
>Cool and well designed characters
>Unique soundtrack
>Subtle storytelling. It's specially good the idea of introducing the main characters past slowly
>It oozes style all over the place

Again, not the best. Some episodes are REALLY slow and dry, specially in the first 12 episodes, with nothing that particularly advances the plot.

You have to be underage lad

I watched 15 minutes and cringed the fuck out

but im 30

Mooooooooods!!!

Can we be honest for a second? I remember being in denial back then, but I always found Ed to be attractive. It's such a weird imagination to actually fuck something like that. I wasn't as perverted as I am today, but I think in retrospective, she coined my preference to ass+feet.

Thats what I'm saying friendo. You have to be underage when you first watch it to think its good like most of these plebs
it all comes down to this >toonami babby

>Yeah but it's no Evangelion.
That's why it's better.
