Most tankies acknowledge that the change to a collectivist system would be a bloody one, but they feel that the exploited classes already have things so bad that it can be justified. Thanks to the lack of class mobility, there is little way for a person to escape generation poverty, except for a change in the system. I mean, I've been to some commie countries. Vietnam is doing a lot better than many of it's neighbors. Cuba is doing shockingly well for getting non stop raw dogged by what would be it's largest trading partner.
North Korea is a very good example of the problems with authoritarianism, but again, that's just not something that Marxism touches upon, it's purely about economics. The better example would've been countries that attempt collective farming, which Marx did endorse. Cambodia's Khmer Rouge would be a way better example than N. Korea.

I strongly disagree, when Stalin was enacting his 5 year plans etc and sorting out logistics he would have shipments of human material (people) sent along with the building supplies to complete their goals. Everything stems from people and none of it exists without people. You remove people’s self ownership and they become a resource no different than a piece of lumber. Allowing people self ownership is the recognition of private property outside the property of the commons and that pretty much self defeats the whole purpose of abolishing private property without cognitive dissonance

The economy is a complete mystery to the left. For the most part the "wealth inequality" you guys are so buttblasted over is the result of high taxation, inflation (the invisible tax), excessive regulation, government manipulation of the money supply (yes, money printing) and a bloated welfare state making it unattractive for companies to manufacture products in the United States.
At the same time, the companies that DO manage to do well here are mostly tech companies which generate huge profits with low overhead, which means that the people at the top and the handful of engineers and programmers they employ get incredibly rich, without creating any additional jobs for unskilled/low skilled workers. In addition, the cost of living in the cities where these companies are located skyrockets, without an additional increase in average income.
Meanwhile, the same people who brought you the high taxes and excessive government regulation that killed off most of middle America are simultaneously opening borders to allow hordes of immigrants to swarm in and scoop up the handful of low-skill jobs that ARE available, which not only makes these jobs more competitive, but also ensures that wages remain low.
