is he right, Sup Forums? is Titanic a bad film for brainlets?

>My people are endangered. Dropping like flies, one-by-one, they turn to the dark side. Not me. I'm one of the few still fighting the good war: I still haven't seen Titanic.

> Why do I refuse to see this movie? It's bullshit. That's why. As far as I understand, it's a love story. But is it really? To me, it sounds like the theme of adultery in disguise. Why go through all the trouble of recreating every meticulous detail of the Titanic and its era if you're going to create some fictional love story to go along with it? WHO CARES? What's the point? If you've seen the Titanic, ask your self what the movie meant to you. If you have to think about the answer, your answer is wrong. The answer is nothing. The Titanic means nothing. It's old news, and this new love story is bullshit. Simple as that. Go watch Rambo II or something, and quit raving about the movie.

> I wonder why the Titanic appeals to the intellect of 13 year old girls? Maybe because it's a shitty, simple movie for shitty simple people. Shitty, Shitty, Shitty, Shitty. I can't say it enough. Titanic is shitty. Only shit-eaters would see it. Worthless. Leave me alone.

smelly dumb hipster scum

trump spread magic pixie dust that brought out the worst in all of his enemies.

you don't even have to be a supporter. as long as you can be rational about the subject and engage intellectually with the trump presidency, you're still cool

but if he's literally hitler, you're obsessed. you have been hypnotized into shilling for the neocons, socialists, and the deep state, and it's ruining your art.

More like ever since Trump won all his supporters became delicate princesses that don't get humor, it's pathetic.

It's not that great of a movie, but prime Kate Winslet was the perfect high test cutie.

I think Titanic deserves to be remembered for her.

So has Maddox actually seen this movie and is lying? If he was able to do a write up on it?

>I've never seen this but let me explain why it sucks

/our guy/

Dick thread?

>maddox literally saying racemixing is great and white people are bad

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

>Dude what's the point of historical fiction? it's so dumb.
Bravo Maddox, bravo.
It's truly a wonder why Madcucks is making more money that you.

WHAT'S UP BUDDY!

It has a lot going for it, and I have no idea who this guy is, but I do have to say that Titanic is one giant fucking missed opportunity.

It's got fantastic set pieces, fantastic music, fantastic camera work and all that, only to tell a shittier version of Romeo and Juliet, while it could have been a love letter to the ambition and downfall of Thomas Freaking Andrews. A guy who is in this movie for like 2-3 scenes, but was the centre piece of everything.

I'll never understand why a supposed admirer of the Titanic's story decided to rip off pulp fiction written about the tragedy when it came to the plot, instead of making a movie about Thomas Andrews' dream to build the greatest ship mankind has seen, and its subsequent during which he had to deal with his failure and responsibility, which he lived up to as best he could, helping women and children escape.

>subsequent during
Let's pretend I didn't forget to write "sinking" between those words.

he is such a huge fucking faggot holy shit

I haven't played this game that's how I can properly say it's shit.

...

titanic has everything
a 90s feel
a 2000s feel
huge production quality
period setting
huge intro with thousands of extras
real world atmosphere
jolly families, rich men, poor drunk men, sailors, captains, military
the banter between jack and his friends
the epic scale of the movie
the real looking ship
getting the tour of the ship
meeting all the rich people
all the drunk parties
action
adventure
disaster film
huge block buster
one of the best endings on film

>deleting an entire episode of Maddox bitching

Sean did nothing wrong.

>women, nubians and transgenders only

The movie isn't about the folly of man's ambition and the shortsightedness that occurs from arrogant confidence, it's about the tragic loss of individual life and love, and the fictional retelling of one survivor's recollection.

Maddox was ALWAYS a softie faggot on immigration even 20 years ago on his website, it's no surprise he would hate drumpf

What, pray tell, would have stopped Cameron from doing both?
Could have had the story be re-told by someone who met Thomas Andrews on the ship, a woman probably, for least difference. Would especially have worked, her being one of the people he personally saved.

Film making isn't a binary choice between talking about one thing or another. You can do both, but when you base your entire plot around a Romeo and Juliet story with none of the context that made Romeo and Juliet interesting, to the point of spending 1/3rd+ of your the movie just watching them make their way through the sinking ship, you're missing out on a lot of things you could have included.

Hell, even if he had a major boner for that previous Titanic movie that shares most of the plot, he could have fit an equal share of Thomas Andrews' story in there, and maintained all the themes already present.

What bothers me is that they turned it into a focused story of a small group of people, and they didn't include the defining person of the event.

Well he decided not to make the movie a story about the captain, it was a disaster romance instead and he focused mostly on the chatacters who were in love instead, and it's one of the best selling movies ever.

This was funny when I used to think maddox was just playing a character.

>Well he decided not to make the movie a story about the captain
>Captain
>Thomas Andrews
>The Captain
Probably the reason him being ignored doesn't piss you off as much as it does me, is because apparently you have no idea whatsoever who I'm talking about.

Yep. You wanted a biography on the person responsible for the project but the movie's a historical fiction about a romance instead. Not every movie with a disaster has to be about why it happened.

It doesn't have to be, but that does not clash with the term "missed opportunity".
You pointing out that the movie can exist in its current form has nothing to do with the initial statement.

So was Maddox right about Pepperoni being a shit pizza topping?

I used to read Maddox when I was 14. He always had this persona about being a badass and I found it funny. I actually imagined a built dude not giving a fuck. Then I saw pictures of him from his book signing, and he looked like such a dweeb, no muscles, bags under his eyes and a sad look on his face. He wore a king's cloak and a crown, and there was a picture of him with his foot on some dude's head and I couldn't believe there could be a bigger loser than maddox. Made me sad, desu.

Then he made a youtube video. And he sounded like such a loser; nasally voice and monotone delivery. Alphabet of Manliness my ass.

You probably got that impression because his logo was literally an image of his face photoshopped to look like Kurt Russel

A big, fat phony.

Relistening to the podcast made me realise that Maddox wasn't right about shit. He constantly made the point that the list was supposed to be about serious problems and he lambasted dick in the earlier episodes, but he constantly brought in "problems" that were just holier than thou rants, and personal gripes.
The times he didnt, he brought in shit like death, which is fucking bullshit because who gives a fuck about someone explaining how death is a problem, it's boring because he never even tried to make it funny.
In answer to your question tho, he was absolutely wrong about pepperoni because it's a classic topping that compliments the tomato base of a pizza. I can't fathom for the life of me why he would say it's a shit topping.

Maddox? In 2017?

Even at his best Maddox was just irrationally arguing his selfish opinions, like Kelley, the guy who does the Onion political cartoons. It was funny and relatable because people hate a lot of stuff just based on intuition, and Maddox basically just railed on stuff he hated incidentally. Maddox' blog was hilarious venting, not anything convincing or persuasive, he was a big obnoxious jackass who rambled like his opinion was the most important thing in the world, it was funny. However then Dick showed up and did that better than him on his own show, so Maddox tried to play the role of some concerned centrist ally and basically became the clown in his own style of content.

Maddox went shit before Trump though. He's really just a pathetic scumbag. I can't even be angry with him.

Some of my favourite parts of the podcast were when dick would ask "so what?", and Maddox wouldn't have an answer. But you're right, at least dick was funny with his rants and i think you can tell that he knows it's all subjective in the end.
Outside of all the statistics he prepared in advance, most of Maddox's arguments boiled down to "this is a problem because it's stupid". That's the furthest he could argue without resorting to his precious stats.

>I can't fathom for the life of me why he would say it's a shit topping.
hipster reasons I guess

JUST

Dick is always trying to be a funny guy but I think that ultimately he's trying to share a message that individuals are naturally self-interested and things work best when they act that way. I get the feeling that he's a smart guy who is playfully mocking the way people use their words to flatter and signal selflessness. Dick gives off this vibe of 'Wow that's a ridiculous and selfish thing he said, but it makes sense that he said it because he's an individual with an ego and a self, and I don't have to agree with him because so am I'. I honestly find Dick quite long berating because he totally dispels the idea that anyone is obligated to agree on anything, or that you have to be in support of something bigger than yourself when you talk.

Maddox is just an angry blogger who Just likes to rant in ways that makes him feel good. Dick is a comedian with a specific attitude and routine that actually serves a role in social interaction.

Quite liberating*

>20k a month
Pretty insane, and to think he'd have about half if Maddox didn't try to fuck with him.
First Maddox gave him a platform, then he made him extra rich after the podcast.

>Reviewing a movie you haven't even watched
Why do people feel the need to do this

Maddox is not only avoiding watching the movie in protest of individuals who asked him to, he also must insist this is actually a highly intellectual mental exercise and that Titanic actually causes stupidity. He didn't avoid seeing it because he finds it annoying, he actually avoided seeing the movie because it's actually the super secret clever most genius thing to do.

Maddox.
A face of radio.
A voice for writing.
A prose for painting.

Everyone get down, I've got an assault .gif and I ain't afraid to use it.

I feel he saw enough of it to consider him being someone who saw the movie when Dick kept bringing it in as 30 second clips whenever he won on Biggest Problem.

The disaster porn alone makes Titanic a great movie.

Maddox is an actual manchild who is truly shocked when someone doesn't care about his opinion, and is constantly pushing for something and demanding things out of people because he's not happy with the moment. That's why he's always policing and won't drop a conversation until he's painstakingly explained himself. Dick on the other hand is a normal person who has designed his attitude to be something workable that he can live with. Dick is self-content while Maddox is actually very needy.
