Bodybuilding is awesome but I did gain a lot of weight to bulk up. Now I am 220 at 6'1 and I look good,even though I don't have the huge numbers.
All the powerlifters I know are strong as fuck but honestly they look fat while I get compliments and people think I'm strong when in fact I just look like I lift.

glad to hear, i'm ~195 at 6'1 and look real baggy but I've got good lifts. Almost a 220 bench and 130 lbs overhead press, 4 plate deadlift etc.
