What is this supposed to accomplish
What's so funny?
We did it Reddit!
Whens the last time Netflix made anything good?
Way back like in '11, they included the user name with the reviews and some people used it as a platform to become amateur critics. They nixed that right around the time the navigation got TV friendly.
Every time they tweak their model they fuck it up, beginning with that and continuing with the attempt at divorcing the streaming service into a whole new subsidiary. It was a fucking disaster.
I killed my sub and regret nothing.
Cool now I can downvote good movies!
I'm such a joker!
Ok but is it actually a real rating or a "here's what we think you'll think of it thanks to a bunch of dumb analytical bullshit" rating like the star ratings?
It's about time to cancel Netflix. I don't give a shit about netflix series or comedy specials anyway.
Their star ratings are so out of whack. This is prob gonna be better.
Thank God I left them for Amazon Prime
I think it mostly just makes something that would be a "3 star" look better, potentially even better than things that might have been rated higher if it happens to have very broad appeal despite middling quality. Basically the same shit people complain about when they talk about Rotten Tomatoes
It's objectively a better system. Fags on Yelp will give anything that they moderately liked a 5 star and the tiniest issue a 1 star.
Amazon "4 good movies and 40000000 terrible movies" Prime
Your post seems to imply that thumbs up and down ratings are in some way inferior to 5 star ratings. Care to explain why you think this is true?
I Am The Thing That Lives In The House
I think it was called that. Very somber ghost movie.
Their rating system was perfect
it gave you the ratings of movies based on your previous ratings of movies
i heard that has a shitty collection
Amy Schumacher
Season 1 of House of Cards
>everything is thumbs up but complete utter shit
The star thing is awful too though. It's like Netflix doesn't want you to know most of what they stream is utter shit.
So now instead of Amy Schumer receiving a 1 star rating she'll receive 5 billion thumbs down?
How does this solve their problem?
noone cares dad
It's about as mediocre at netflix tbqhwy
they do offer add-on subs which is most of a network's content for like $8 a month. I think those jews at HBO charge $15. They've literally subverted cable.
This may seem like a small thing but it's really creating a society of people who can only make binary choices. We're only allowed to agree or disagree with something.
literally not a problem
Sup Forums ignores the average rating on rotten tomatoes and only cares about the tomatometer
Marco Polo was pretty good Mongolkino.
They'll remove thumb downs when they realise this.
First season was the last thing I watched on Netflix.
...
Now everyone will downvote Amy Schumer specials instead of 1 starring them. Take that Alt Right.
Ratings aside this show was pretty bad. I found the Meachums much more interesting than Iron Fist guy.
>americans are too stupid for a 5 star rating system so they need only know if it's good or bad
Can someone tell me how this makes Amy Schumer look good? She makes a terrible stand up special, starts crying about trolls giving it one star, so Netflix caters to her by changing their whole voting system, which I assume will reset the rating on her special. She comes off as a spoiled brat who didn't get exactly what she wanted.
...
>mfw the Trump mockumentary had 1 star and I thoroughly enjoyed it, found it pretty inspiring
You have met a woman before, right user?
>no big movies at Sundance
We're only allowed to agree or disagree with something. AND THAT'S A GOOD THING!
Supposedly Stranger Things was good given the size of the circlejerk surrounding it.
So the same thing that youtube did
It wasn't.
People just wanted to fuck the girl and the frog kid
This is the next big meme... AND THAT'S A GOOD THING
So instead of one star, her special will get a thumbs down. Honestly Netflix ratings system was very beneficial. I found great movies I never would've seen based on my personalized rankings. I think I'm done with Netflix now. I don't patronize companies that cater to liberal whinging.
The holocaust is confirmed to be hoax....and that's a good thing!
How much money does the industry have to lose before stop investing in Chuck Scumer's niece? When did propaganda become more important than profits. I liked capitalism better than socialism. Fuck Michael Moore and his disgusting, wet farts.
But I would think someone (her manager, a publicist, etc.) would tell her just to let it go because it would hurt her in the long run.
Nothing of value was lost. The star rating on netflix was about as trustworthy as IMDB's rating system.
excuse me
you have to be a literal delusional fucking snowflake martyr if you think changing to a simpler system is about liberals
Her managers and publicists probably realize her career has no staying power.
Thumbs are on Netflix now but the star review system still exists.
Are they going to change that later on?
it was ok
after a while the drama disappears and the 80s setting basically only exists for nostalgic callbacks in the first few episodes
>Amy Schumer whines about alt right boogeyman Russians giving one star to her classic piece of stand up artistry
>Netflix changes the rating system they've had for decade
Yea, has nothing to do with Chuck Schumer losing his mind and threatening people in public.
Quick reminder that this a jew move to mask the fact that 80% of their catalogue is complete shit.
This makes me mad even though i just cancelled my subscription.
Not even jewtube is greedy enough to pull this shit.
The way it worked didn't change. Just the numerical inputs have, instead of 1-5, it's 0 or 1. It still compares viewing patterns and likes of people of a particular show or movie and try to make a prediction about it for you.
Bloodline
Second season is a lot better since they stop trying to be HBO.
The movie was a travesty, though.
I have a huge mancrush on ben mendelsohn
>upvote
>downvote
LITERALLY
Medici
Marco Polo season 1
Narcos season 1 and to a lesser extent season 2 which was Bretty Gud
Siege of Jadotville is Eriekino
Beast of No Nation was Guerrillakino
The Crown is really good, and Queen Lizzie is top qt
Sounds good to me, honestly. As long as people don't downvote anything they consider less than five stars, it'll lead to people watching more movies instead of forgoing stuff that has three stars or something. Then they'll be able to judge it for themselves.
women are funny, get over it.
Bloodline was amazing (only seen first season, though), season 2 of Marco Polo was really good, Stranger Things (even if criminally overrated) was good, Beast of no Nation was really good, Narcos was great.
And I shamelessly enjoyed some of their new Nipp-shit. Both Tokyo Stories and Good Morning Call was truly comfy.
It's a shame that they obviously are going with quantity > quality, though. But they do release some good stuff.
What the fuck is that guy's problem?
I thought it was a memepost so I logged in to Netflix to check
>mfw they actually did it
>Siege of Jadotville
my nigger
Prime is fucking dogshit.
However, discovering that they had Monster Musume in the children's section was a very pleasant surprise.
They really did need an overall on rating system though, a 5 to 1 star rating system is flawed in itself as you should base movies and tv off many different elements then jus an arbitrary number or star. Btw I browse Reddit and like Rick and Morty ;)
Narcos
1 star is thumbs down
5 star is thumbs up
What is the difference.
Oh yea offcourse YOU ARE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST.
But their 5 star rating was bullshit because it was analytics rather than ratings, this is better.
How long before they get rid of thumbs down?
But what if I kind of like a show/movie but don't think it's really great? How can I rate Mad Men and That '70s Show the same?
No, they will just change the algorithm of how thumbs down affects material made by poc and women. Because equality.
They'll also find a way to suspend your Netflix account for vote manipulation if you thumbs down shit they like
Till Amy Schumer's next special comes out.
Gustavo and Pablo's brother were pussies in real life, fuck em.
Making a Murderer
...
Not even something they themselves made but them funding more Terrace House was godlike. Pure asian drama kino
It's essentially the same thing as the star system, only its function is more obvious. Because people only give 1 star, 5 stars, or don't rate it at all. Which is functionally exactly the same as thumbs up/down system.
And people are more likely to rate with a thumbs up/down system because it's simpler.
Not even close.
>What is shilling
Are people this naive / new?
Thumbs are offensive we should just have a fist and only one
BTFO
HOW WILL NETFLIX EVER RECOVER
It's just like how Youtube supposedly shifted to the thumbs up/down system it has now. Only they didn't have Amy Schumer as the cause for it.
>Because people only give 1 star, 5 stars, or don't rate it at all.
This is not true.
Having only thumbs up or thumbs down makes it less accurate.
What about us autistic people who have trouble interpreting social cues?
Is anyone else infuriated by this "EITHER YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT" ratings system? Either they should expand the ratings to 1-10 or leave it at 1-5. Even a 1-4 system would be better than this bullshit.
So the star rating still exists you just can't see it immediately.
And you can't see if other people are downvoting it either.
hollywood is either savagely biased or wants to indoctrinate children
so many times has this happened
>And you can't see if other people are downvoting it either.
So you can't see when Netflix suddenly remove a bunch of negative ratings either?
I wonder if they manipulate their own shows. It's basically becoming the Netflix station anyway with other shows/movies slowly decreasing.
OR
It's a lazy intern who thought: cartoons = for kids
Really wiggled my walnuts
>go on netflix
>we've made some changes to easily show what you like
>first thing i see is Amy Schumer's ugly mug and her leather special
what the fuck is wrong with jews man
