do you have the courage to use a card which anime characters are printed on in front of shop clerks? how do they react when they see it? how are you seen by others in your country if you have it?

Vocabulary and grammar. It's going to be worth understanding how sentences are formed and some basic words so you can start thinking in that mindset and start enjoying some Japanese media.
Well it can help with listening/speaking side of things. Maybe if your end goal is to read Japanese manga and VNs or something then you might never do it. But if you want to speak to Japanese people or go to japan as your end goal then it's good to be able to speak and listen.
I actually just got back from japan recently. I know nearly no kanji, I'm basically a complete illiterate. Had fun talking to people though.
I see lots of advertisement for tours visiting multiple central European countries, and they almost always include Czech. I'm guessing that it's a popular tourist destination for older people who have already visited more popular countries like England or France.
