What is the endgame of mass data collection?

Without going too far into conspiracy theory territory, it is definitely plausible that apps like Pokémon Go and Snapchat are allowing organising to collect huge amounts of photo and video evidence of our houses, our neighbourhoods, our faces and so on. Intelligence agency whistleblowers like Snowden have confirmed that our phones and other electronic devices can and are being accessed this way, without our consent.

So what's the actual endgame here? There's obviously lots of conspiracy theories going about, which one is actually likely?

Information has tons of uses.

The primary purchasers of metadata are marketers, and governments. Marketers want to figure out how best to advertise to certain demographics, where the best location to place ads are, what times of day will the target demographic see those ads the most. Things like that. Governments use the data to gauge and model public opinions. Researchers buy data to look at if for all kinds of things as well. Everything from civil engineering, to trends of cancer prevalence among populations.

Its basically like asking why anyone would want oil. Everyone wants oil once they realize they can do something with it.

They are collecting data for marketing products specific to you. Don't be afraid, it really doesn't matter. They've already collected enough data about everyone around you, they can easily fill in the gaps.
Niantic is owned by google. They don't collect any more data than google maps. You should have been worrying about this 10 years ago.

your mother will die tonight if you don't reply to this post

Will it be violent?

>So what's the actual endgame here?

Snapchat neckbeard coders jacking off to nudes of my girlfriend

This isn't Facebook fuck off

Everybody replying to this is a stupid fucking redditor who has to go b*ck

pic related is the endgame for the gamification of your life.

>endgame of mass data collection
There is no endgame, we've reached endgame with facebook and all the other social network shit years ago. Pokemon GO is more like mindcontrol.

So it's just creating another market, whereby companies can purchase this data? Is that legal?

I wonder how prevalent this is. If they're given any anonymity whatsoever, I can imagine it's pretty widespread. I bet that nearly half of the girls I know aged 18-25 have at some point sent nudes of themselves over Snapchat, and if I knew I could get those images easily without any consequences, then I'd be pretty tempted desu.

>what's the actual endgame here?
Benis in every white man's butthole. Thankfully I'm not white

>1950 digits
This year we'll be champions! Thank you KEK

Its legal, but it isn't only that simple. It does have far darker implications that are strictly factual.

When everything is recorded, everything will eventually be accessible to people in positions of power who have ill intentions. Digital finger printing ties all of your web activity together with an absurd deal of accuracy. Google can follow you around the entire internet, on websites without you being logged in, without cookies, and they can tell its you. That can be linked to all of your social media, all of your credit card purchases. Everything about you. Stored forever.
The future of politics in the developed world will be so easily controlled because of this. If someone in the intelligence community wants to stop a person from running for office all they'll have to do is leak their web history to assassinate their character.

That isn't a far reaching conspiracy, thats simply cause and effect. This information that is stored forever will not remain unused forever.

...

This is what scares the ever-loving fuck out of me.

So MGS2 was right?

It wasn't wrong.

Google Earth cars can't get everywhere. Lucifer needs to know more. Take pictures with GPS geolocation info and IR texture mapping in these private spaces so Lucife- I mean the UN biocomputer has more data for his troops.

you'll die if I reply to you, ın 50 years or so

No Clyde

Sometimes a game really is just a game.

Pokemon Go has really been good at exposing the faggot hipster wanna-be-redpills who don't even realize they're ironic.

Bitch, your phone has ALWAYS been able to collect data.

Your phone can record you without your permission, even if its deactivated and off so long as it has power.

Your address is on GOOGLE MAPS

If you've ever been pornhub or had a facebook or myspace your COMPROMISED.

Stop ruining my fucking fun with your stupid shit.

>So what's the actual endgame here? There's obviously lots of conspiracy theories going about, which one is actually likely?
Considering my background, I'm 100% certain they are just updating their overwatch program with 360 visualization thanks to crowdsourced photo images.

Basically google earth in person, instead of that car being limited by roads and no housing.

>so long as it has power.
That's why I take my battery ou---

THIS NIGGER GETS IT
JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT BELIEVE DOESNT MAKE IT NOT REAL
YOU MUST REALIZE THAT LUCIFER IS STEPPING UP HIS GAME.
YOU MOTHERFUCKERS ARE MAKING IT WORSE WORSHIPPING KEK

Savage

Doesn't matter m8

Exactly

The day that private web history gets leaked is the end of private web history surveillance. There's an unspoken agreement not to share/show this data (assuming it hasn't already been anonymized).

It's also a matter of time until hardware starts being designed to make it near impossible to digital fingerprint.

If you weren't a complete and utter dumbass you'd already know there's ways to defeat digital signatures and shadow tracking.

>suddenly the government can access my information only because I just got Pokemon Go
there are much better and easier ways to collect information, not through some app where most of the pics taken can barely be interpreted

>christfags take kek seriously

>"Anonymous hackers" (heh heh) have released embarrassing chatlogs and internet history of Mr. Johnson!
>"Completely fabricated," says Johnson

No you retard. Those other things don't 3d map the inside of your home.

>e to certain demographics, where the best location to place ads are, what times of day will the target demographic see those ads the most. Things like that. Governments use the data to gauge and model public opinions

fuck offff

cunt

The end game is passively collecting and storing data on everyone for use in either black mailing or tracking you down if you break a law, when you come to their attention.

Pokemon go pretty much collects data on every location you visit.

THEY DO!

You can turn the camera off which funny enough makes it way easier to catch Pokemon, go figure. You dont even need to take the picture in your house you just have to be near the area, you can do it form your car. Your phone is already a tracker device you fucking dolt Google maps can track your phone right now without the app and every picture you taken of your dog or selfie you've ever posted is mapping your house and its out there for people to see. All the shit your bitching about already existed and Pokemon Go is just utilizing them you fucking DUMMY!

Fucking. DUMMY!

>collecting and storing data on everyone for use in either black mailing or tracking you down if you break a law
They already do all of this. Kinda stupid considering most people haven't even gone out until Pokemon Go so that'll be pointless. The bigger issue you should be worrying about is companies marketing themselves making rare Pokemon appear near liberal gathering and being indoctrinated.

im going to patent the app for this right now

...

My room mate found a charmander in the living room directly in front of his bong.

I have a hard time believing it a coincidence.

>So what's the actual endgame here?

The Elite Four ;^)

did you read the part where i told you that you could turn the camera off?

You have to go back.

your mother will also die if you don't reply to me.

Reeeeeee

It is. He could have gone outside or anywhere in a 25m radius and found it. He chose to start the encounter in the living room in front of the bong.

REEEE

On a sidenote if you dont reply to this post your wife will be tortured and raped by a serial killer when you aren't home to protect her.

You're a fucking god damn idiot if you needed Snowden to tell you social media is monitered.

Problem is dumb fucks think its just the government. Its big business and every country with the resources to put together a spy agency doing it. I honestly doubt many are throwing their weight behind it because facebook, linkin, tumbler, etc are a freaking honeypot for collecting volunteered info.

Don't believe me? Go look up how they caught participants of the Zeus net.

Honestly, it's probably money. Being able to target advertisements to people that you know are interested in your product is a company's wet dream.

Hell, I've been working with the *chrumrhr* campaign this cycle and we're using social media analytics to pull more people in through direct targeting enabled by this kind of data collection.

>be driving home
>see old man standing front yard with an M1 and smart phone

CUNTS

fuckyou

came here to post this

Yeah but people don't naturally hold their phones in such a way that it actively maps their immediate surroundings. Just because the camera is able to be accessed without your consent, it doesn't mean that it will be pointed in the direction that (((they))) want.

Omniscience

You become a pokemon master.

Sage

Anyone who claims to be concerned about privacy but carries around a smartphone is just a plain moron.

And anyone who gets all tinfoil hat-y about government surveillance but doesn't care about what Google/Facebook/Apple/Microsoft/etc. etc. etc. know about you and the real harmful effects that has on your life is delusional.

Why do you do this, did you lose your own mother to one of these posts? Doing this to others won't fill that black hole in your chest.

To sell you stuff.

And eventually when the government can work out some bureaucratic inefficiency and maintain a single party in control for like 10 years pass some draconian law to restrict some aspect of your life and put no means behind enforcing it.

Pokemon Go exists to make money
If you believe otherwise you're just trying to make shit up

Next you'll say the Wii was some kind of conspiracy to make people exercise

They just want to be the very best

>people who think "making money" is a completely innocent goal

Advertising and p2w scams are psychological manipulation, plain and simple. It's a direct attack on you and your wallet.

n she won't

you bastard

Let's get off of mothers, cuz I just got off yours

>If you've ever been pornhub or had a facebook or myspace your COMPROMISED.
Well, I hope no one will ever have to look up my search/browing history.
I mean, I know they have it, I don't care, I just hope I'm a nobody enough for "them" to not care.

Niantic is Google, you were fucked before this stupid game

Hey

>Advertising and p2w scams are psychological manipulation, plain and simple. It's a direct attack on you and your wallet.

Correct. And that is the price you pay for getting it for free.

Games you pay up front for don't (or really shouldn't unless they are absolute shit) have this micro transaction manipulations in them because they've already gotten the money want for their product from you. Free to Play however need to do it either from ads or micro transactions either way you are always paying for the thing you want.

What is a pokemon?

stop pretending that no one has considered the ramifications of the entire population carrying around microphones, cameras, and tracking devices in one
it's a far bigger fantasy to think that those with money and power aren't actively taking advantage of all this

Alex Jones already saw through it.

The managers at the top of the Alphabet Agencies are making the same mistake poor managers in Industry make in that they want a computer that can do everything, pretty much so they can cut costs in manpower.

They will find their computer profiling utterly useless - as did Industries that tried to make do with computersised social systems - pay over the odds to the manpower divisions to correct their mistakes, and then rinse and repeat with every new idiot manager.

Basically, appoint better security forces managers.
