They're fun as fuck. I really enjoy period pieces. Especially ones set in the 18th and early 19th centuries. There's so few Napoleonic War media out there that Sharpe, Hornblower, and the 1 Jack Aubrey film are rare gems.
Though I really wish there was non-Anglo POV films or TV series. Like one through the eyes of a Russian during the 1812 invasion or an Austrian at the Battle of Leipzig. Or even a Waterloo feature about the Prussians.

You should check out the old Russian version of War and Peace from the 60s. Parts of it have aged poorly, but the Battle of Borodino is there, and its fucking crazy good.
