What movies are the best at capturing the L.A. experience?
What movies are the best at capturing the L.A. experience?
Mulholland Drive...
GTA San Andreas
American History Ten
Street kings
...
>Nazi skinhead
>in Los Angeles
Nice joke user
Repo Man
LA has to be the worst place to live in on earth.
L.A Confidential
This.
Mulholland Drive
Chinatown
Crank with Jason Statham
>dishonest film
>capturing the L.A. experience
'no'
Heat
Nightcrawler
>implying LA isn't a dishonest city
>L.A., even more so than any other American city, obscures, sometimes neglects, its own history. But that can also be its own magical thing, because it's a city that reveals itself bit by bit, like an onion, if you take the time to explore it.
Kitchen Nightmares since 99% of the people who go to LA end up working as a waitress.
Escape from LA
Drive unironically
i don't even remember if any scenes were set in L.A, but this is still the best california film.
...so Shrek?
boyz n the hood maybe? bill & ted? san dimas isn't much of a place
San Dimas is such an insignificant place that the movie was shot mostly in Phoenix.
The Big Lebowski
none since they changed the color of the street lights
yeah but onions stink and make you cry when you cut into them...
oh wait
Primarily the San Francisco area, not L.A.
Greenberg was actually quite an accurate portrayal of the vapid subhumans who live in Los Angeles
Repo Man
To Live and die in LA
Falling Down
Collateral??
nah that's if you want the San Fran experience. I think it captured th spirit of that city better than LA
Sunset Blvd.
Idiocracy
This is Bay Area kino.
Not this.
Barton Fink
are there any where you're surrounded by millions of ugly Mexicans and all their kids and you're disgusted?
Elysium
something about this .gif makes me feel grossed out
Yeah, it's a shitty gif. I wanted to post a nicer one, but it was above the 4 MB limit.
Pulp Fiction and Big Lebowski.
Mulholland Drive
...
>Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs is a better movie
fucking good movie
Altman is tremendously underrated by pseud cinephiles
This
Too Late
killer of sheep
...
nightcrawler
>Collateral
Pure kino
youtube.com
certainly not La Land
Stop posting this shit, faggot. No one cares.
everything from BLACKED.com
Knight of Cups is the only answer.
Anything by Michael Mann set in the L.A.
eww
End of Watch
>hollywoodreporter.com
>Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Ah........Ok! But can never win with these fucking people.
>pretensious
>shallow
>boring
>self important
yup Hollywood.
Not necessarily LA. Perhaps from the poc of Hollywood/Brentwood rich types.
>POV
Yes those are the characters in Knight of Cups
>everyone posting movies with white actors
There are literally no white people who live in LA
They all live in surrounding towns like the Palisades or Brentwood but you will not find a single white person in the heart of LA
Pic related is the most accurate depiction of LA life, Wassup Rockers
LA ONDA DON'T SHINE NO SHOES!!
theres an L.A. street gang called Nazi Lowriders
the members are 'white' mexicans
Tangerine.
That's because you only notice non-whites since they bother you. There are plenty of Caucasians in L.A. proper.
*since it bothers you
Wrong choice of words on my part
nice freudian slip, cuck
This
Repo Man
He's twisting his analysis to fit his point.
Cam to post this. Captures daytime and night time LA very well. Movies that glamorize even the nicer parts of the city get it so wrong. Drive wasn't bad either, but there just isn't enough traffic in that movie to be accurate.
Pretty good Venice area movie.
Do you think it was annoying spending months learning dances?
I would never sign on for a musical movie.
>Nazi Lowriders
There were real white street gangs in L.A. up until the 60's that much I know. I don't know what happen to them. My guess the Crips and Bloods were too much for them. Hells Angels started in Pasadena.
How have I not seen this with this fucking cast
LA confidential?
I haven't seen it, just assuming..
Is Pain & Gain set in LA? Because one way or the other it gave me LA feels.
Was going to say this.
No actual LA cops have that much fun copping
I've been there desu. Just liked the atmosphere of that film.
Tell me why.
>How have I not seen this with this fucking cast
I will say this Ruffalo is actually very good. I don't know what happen to his acting.
>Pain & Gain
I thought it was Miami?
Heat and Collateral
Traffic, I guees.
Swingers
Traffic
Trash
Hobos
Hot all the goddamn time
It's a nice city to visit now and then, but unless you're living in the hills, it's not that great.
Ah that's right. I think it's just that they both have that superficial vibe.
Collateral
The ones who work in the buildings Downtown don't count since they are the ones who live in the upper class suburbs I mentioned. The only ones I can think of are the USC students who live in gated and guarded areas.
I went to the LA area once, ive lived in northern california my whole life. We walked down the hollywood strip with all the stars on the ground. A fat homeless black girl had passed out and vomited all over the sidewalk.
I dont ever need to go back
> Traffic
I take the train so it's never bothered me
>Trash
Only the areas around South central are shit holes filled with blacks and mexicans
>Hobos
There isn't a goddamn place on this planet where you won't find homeless people
>Weather
Trust me, compared to fucking Florida or the Midwest our weather is heavenly. Summers aren't too hellishly hot and winters aren't freezing cold
>Hollywood strip
lmao there's a reason people who actually live in LA stay the hell away from that tourist trap
Heat and To live and Die in L.A
>muh Nightcrawler
The underage is strong
They're both superficial cities with fake people
>Trust me, compared to fucking Florida or the Midwest our weather is heavenly. Summers aren't too hellishly hot and winters aren't freezing cold
The weather is fan fuckin tastic in LA. Nice, dry heat.
Last time I went to LA I made out with some really hot coked out slut who was grinding on me all night until her boyfriend(?) dragged her off
Pretty good trip really. I need to go back
