You were still being told what's the price of that piece of metal whose only purpose for millenia before electricity was just to be able not to rust and be shiny. No, I just try to say that I don't see that much of a difference between money backed with gold and money backed with the country's prestige, influence or power, like modern USD. To devalue a gold-supported currency you just have to steal a gold reserve, and it's not that much of it on Earth. To devalue USD, for example, one would have to demolish the US economy, which is much harder.
We could also remember BTC, which value is proved by the people's desire to buy it, and nothing else, which is an interesting precedent. I don't remember if my country's (Russia) currency is backed with gold (more like with crude exported oil that other countries process and sell us back, amirite eheheh), and I don't think it matters that much in the modern world, where a country may have little to no natural resources and be successful, like Japan.

Don't make me laugh. The US economy gets worse every day, and our money isn't based on our influence. Our money is based on nothing more than the whims of those in power, and at any moment it could be worthless. Without a physical, TANGIBLE anchor to give it real value, it is worthless. I think that our money should based off of land, or some valuable resource like oil, uranium, gold, etc...

You seem to miss what I'm trying to say. Gold may be a standart as long ass people want it. If WWIII happens tomorrow, gold will be worth nothing. Well, something, as it's still useful in electronics, but not nearly as much. Food, weapons, medicine, clothes and machinery, the things that can grant you another day of life will have value. Gold is a spoof, it's not a standard, it's a piece of shiny shit, and is less valueable than steel in time of need. And if the time is not harsh, why worry?
Our economy is okay, I guess. Better since the 80s or so. The people complain, but they always do when they're given a chance. The commieblock yards are flooded with expensive cars, everyone has an iphone, they go outside to eat every other day and still complain about being poor. I remember the times when a town junkyard was the best toy for us, so I don't understand the modern kids and their whining about not getting more money for fortnite bucks.

My point isn't so much about using gold as much as it is about having a real standard. I don't care what the standard is. If there was a big federal ration or weapon stockpile that was used as the standard, that would be fine by me, but there needs to be something that exists as a real way to value our currency.

We have that here in America too, where people struggle to actually pay their bills or have good housing but still waste their money on frivolities. It's not so much that they have the money to spare, it's that they waste what little they have. It's a problem of both the culture and the economy, but it would certainly be less so were people to understand how to cut away the excess.

Imagine having a country whose currency would be supported with weapons! Like, every "cent" would equate to a 9mm bullet or so. That would be sso badass, and very American in a cool, admirable way. I think I'll change my mind, having a standard is a neat idea to visualize your wealth, although I'm not educated with economy enough to judge whether it has any real purpose for the well-being of the people, and after all, that's what we're all working towards: the well-being of our close ones and ourselves.
The culture of using crediting is much less prevailed (apart from housing) here, people would rather save up for something expensive, and still though, back in the days of my childhood, some people have struggled to get meat to eat, and didn't complain, now they struggle to find some authentic mold cheese, and complain like hell.
