I imagined they had some kind of hivemind thing going on that was finished once the ritual was complete. I liked that Moore chose to explore Lovecraft's work more than try and do his own thing with it. His stories being a warning of sorts of things to come was a neat twist. Especially Earth being Yuggoth all along.
