Does parody of Christ the Redeemer really offend people? The Finnish version(on the left) of Donald Duck book removed it because "someone might get offended", the original Swedish version on the right has it. I thought only Muslims still care about this shit.

They removed it because they thought some readers might get offended because Jesus looks like a duck.

For the most part Christians only get offended by explicitly provocative representations of Christ but even that is rare. Different sects of the religion do not show religious iconography of deities because they believed worship of the image is blasphemous. As far as the controversy over the book cover one can only assume it came from a group with similar beliefs. Granted if you look at Christians track record the demand for removing a image of Christ from a children's book is a far more reasonable demand than the call for death to the artist and those affiliated. You can rag on about this is in no way near as offensive as those depictions of the prophet but I will point you over to a little art exhibit called "Piss Christ". Sure that one got a smigen of outcry from the community but not much louder than that and far less loud than a gunshot or carbomb.

Oh, in that case, people need to find more important things to get offended over. I didn't even notice it was a duck at first. I also think there's a big difference between making a statue of Jesus have a duck bill as to conform to an imaginary world where ducks are basically people and making an intentionally offensive portrayal.

Also the Donald Duck stories show that while Scrooge is the richest duck in the world and Gladstone Gander the luckiest duck in the world, they live in constant fear that they will lose everything so they aren't portrayed as happy characters despite their success. Mickey Mouse is happy because he's smart and educated, Grandma Duck is happy because she can take care of her farm. Donald's happiness depends whether he gets swooned by capitalist ideals and greed or not, when he does he always fails and people enjoy reading this kind of trainwreck stories about a normal guy who's not exactly a hero but not the bad guy either.
