Wrong faggot, I've watched at least 3 of his short films.
You know who this is yet have not watched any of his feature films.
c'mon now he's not obscure
also the stuff he has been doing with insects is pretty cool so far
If you dont know this man, your days on Sup Forums are numbered and its time to go to reddit
Everyone knows who this is yet he is rarely even mentioned here.
I don't know who this is and must leave now for reddit.
I've been meaning to watch Alice for a while.
I liked Institute Benjamenta a lot and he was a big inspiration for the Quays
you are incorrect, he is pretty entry level
he has a fuller beard than me
id rather mine be as full as that but what can you do
maybe when you're as old as he is you will have as full a beard as his
oh fuck off, there's so many better directors that have never been mentioned here

like?
>spoonfeeding
it ain't me
name one
it's very unlikely you know something I don't know
Willi Forst
inb4 yeah dude I totally know about him lmao
nah, doesn't sound like the kind of thing I'm into. Svankmajer is highly underrated albeit he's one of the more entry-level directors people discover when they get into arthouse, meat love, food and conspirators of pleasures are all 9/10 films, Willi Frost doesn't look like anything special
yes I'm sure your 3 second google search makes you correct about him being nothing special
also, Aleqsandre Rekhviashvili
oh and I like svankmajer but he is regularly mentioned in "surreal films" threads
i swear i've read this post before
>it's very unlikely you know something I don't know
You do know they make movies around the world, right? There's a shitload of non-US filmmakers you've never heard of and their movies are not translated because they're too obscure. If you don't speak a foreign language or two, your kino taste is pleb tier.
Bane?
well I'm not certain but no romance/drama talkie is going to be better than la regle du jeu or children of paradise and that's not relly my cup of tea anyway.
Rekhviashvili gets mentioned from time to time, I myself have recommended him in multiple threads
of course there are directors' names I never heard of but generally, if you've been watching arthouse films for 5+ years, you should have at least heard of pretty much anybody it's worth hearing about
>You don't even know who this is nor have you watched any of his films.
I didn't know who it was just from the image until I looked it up, but I have seen one of his films.
>I myself have recommended him in multiple threads
user senpai, n-nani?
thats santa claus aka a mike leigh joint
kek
Post some more people I should know about please. Svankmajer is literally the only person I have ever known by name and the only word I know how to spell.
so you want more directors that are on the same level as Svankmajer or something a bit more advanced? If the former use pic related, if the latter I can compile a little list of films for you
Not him but I want really advanced stuff. I'm already familiar with the movies on that chart.
