Why?

Who got you hooked? Bosnianbill or LPL?

Been picking for about 5 years now. Have fun with it.

I started urban exploring and always ended up at a locked door, chained entrance, and such. And when I first started lockpicking, and that successful turn gives me a euphoric feeling. Now I can't stop.

why are you such an edge lord faggot?
why not spend your precious time on this planet doing something productive?
who the fuck are you going to break into?
how will your mother deal with the news that some alpha blew ur brains out for breaking into their home?

I don't remember the name of the channel on youtube, but the guy had all kinds of weird locks from all over the world that he unlocked using the same pick. Bike locks, german locks, crazy tube locks. I found it amazing he was able to pick it in under 20 seconds.

>why are you such an edge lord faggot?
We all do things that make us feel good. Its like masturbating at times. You can get super frustrated if you can't cum and your arm gets tired, but you do it for that sweet release.

>why not spend your precious time on this planet doing something productive?
Lock picking is a hobby like any other. There's even a convention. And its a old time hobby. Sort of like hacking, but with pins and springs. It can get you out of a jam too at times. Like say you locked yourself out of your house or car. You just never know when you could use this skill.

>who the fuck are you going to break into?
I don't break into people. I pick house locks that have been abandoned, or buildings that are old and boarded up sometimes. Lots of urban buildings with chains locked with master locks. Its fun to explore.

>how will your mother deal with the news that some alpha blew ur brains out for breaking into their home?
Again, I don't break into potential homes that might have people in them. 80% of people are home at night and if I wanted to steal something, its better to steal new shit than used shit. Are you going to steal a 65inch TV that weighs 80 lbs and hump it back to your car that's half a mile away?

Cool, what's the toughest lock you've picked? I've managed to get into a few shitty master locks, but I'm still pretty bad.

its a fun hobby, frustrating at times, lock picking lawyer on you tube is like a messiah at it, look him up

The toughest ones are where they are corroded or rusty. If I don't have my handy 8oz spray of WD-40, picking rusty locks can take up to 30 minutes. I tend to give up after 15 minutes now. I had trouble with door handle locks until I figured out the secret. A light torque wrench touch. About 2 quarters worth of weight to unlock it. Now I can unlock door locks in under 10 seconds. Deadbolts take a little longer, but I got one of those "gun" types that does all the work for me while I just play with the torque until it opens.

Nice, I will. Lots of popular lock pickers on youtube with over 2mil views. Its just so interesting to see fancy complex looking locks get bested by a thin curved piece of metal.

The hell do you need six tension wrenches for??

I've also never heard of "pinning tweezers" what newage lockpick kit is this

Ever break a lock with gallium?

Why would you get into locksport and then use a pick gun? That's like getting into weightlifting and using a forklift. What's the point?

Its a random pic off google. But various tension wrenches for different size locks. One torque wrench isn't a universal. Like say tiny 3 inch locks. Or if a lock is larger like made for a car, you'll need a thicker torque so it doesn't bend against the spring. Different jobs require different tools.

Pinning tweezers are for when the core is taken out of the barrel and you want to pick up the pins out of the bores. If you use regular tweezers they go flying. Pinning tweezers have a rounded, sort of pincher end instead.

Normally pinning tweezers are for basically changing a pin. Its just made to hold on to the metal pins instead of using your fingers.

LockpickLawyer, right?

Locks are made of stainless steel or iron. I don't think galium will do anything to a lock or even a door knob.

where is there such a concentration of abandoned buildings that aren't also ratted out nigger dens?

Lock picking with the "gun" is not allowed in competition for obvious reasons. It requires no skills. Its a tool for when I need to brute force my way into a lock I can't pick in under 5 minutes. I don't lock pick for competition, its just a fun hobby with perks.

How many quarters stacked together would it take to reach the moon?

i have a lockpicking set my friend gave me a while back, can't pick for shit but i haven't tried it enough. seems like fun

I think it might be him. I don't pay attention to the youtuber, just the fun part of explaination of how a lock works and defeat it like a boss battle.

don’t listen to this faggot it’s fun

You start off with forclosed homes or homes for sale that's not so visable. Then if you want to urban explore, you just drive around. There's tons of them in Georgia. There's a giant old abandon hotel shaped like the leaning tower of pisa. They are every where if you know where to look. Just keep an eye out when traveling. Most of them are around closed down stores that haven't been occupided for a few years. You can tell by the grass growing in the parking lot. Old hotels are the best places to explore.

More than what the Earth has. I don't know really. My best guess would be about 5 trillion.

Have you been caught?

It is very fun. I suggest starting off with a master lock, those are easy as fuck to pick. And you can pick it over and over again until you learn how to manipulate the pins exactly to open it. Then you start moving on to other locks. You could just sit and watch Rick and Morty while lock picking, it only requires random touch. You don't need to think or look at it.

Very fun. And ultra addicting. That feeling of successfully opening a new lock and thinking you're the shit is amazing. Its a great confidence builder for sure because you can do something so simple that not many people can do.

how do you lockpick?

Locks only keep honest people out.

Almost a few times. But I'm always aware of my surroundings. Always look for possible escape routes first and never stay in plain sight for too long. Also never panic if an alarm goes off. Just walk away. It takes like 30 minutes to 1 hour for cops to show up. I broke into a computer store once years ago and the alarm went crazy. I just walked away and watched the store from across the street. Cops are slow as shit.

Well, the basic premise is that locks are imperfect physical mechanisms. With right right finesse (or brute force on shitty locks), you can manipulate the mechanism by feel to get it to open. Then just add practice and skills. If you want to learn, ask the same question on youtube.

It depends on the lock and tools you use. But its a mix between how much tension you put in the wrench and how quickly you can rake the pins.
I myself use the tiny half diamond and short J-hook, those are my main picks. The rest are just in case I break one of the picks. Its a fun puzzle game you can do anytime anywhere. There's always a locked door.

Don't forget to mention that you have no idea how good a lock is until someone tries to defeat it. It's amazing how many locks are garbage level security.

Preach on. Defeating locks is the goal. Prizes may vary on the other side. Get some free toilet paper and towels out of a hotel closet.

I have a lock pick set too. and i was never desperate enough for attention to make a fucking thread about it. did you make a thread when you got your driver license? no? it's just about the same fucking thing. kys
yep. nailed it

Agreed. Locks haven't changed much in over 1000 years. Until you come across a maglock, then things get hacker level.

Welcome to Sup Forums

Where do you get your gear from? I set all my home locks using LPL trick to trap the key

been here longer than you. that is why I know what is worthy of a post and what isn't. this isn't a fucking blog.

And you aren't a mod, so fuck off back to the furry forums.

Or booby traps or a bullet going very fast. Just saying. Pick your locks wisely.

>whats a hobby?
>how to practice lockpicking legally?
>is there opportunity for lockpickers to be empoyed by lock companies to improve their product and security of clients through pen testing?
>can a man have a hobby, or is work supposed to fill his whole time up and thats the only thing hes supposed to enjoy?

I got my first set from Kwik pick. Then after that thing broke, I went on Amazon and get some simple generic ones since I'm afraid of losing them in the grass or something. I wouldn't spend more than $40 on a lockpick set or specialty pick, like a tube pick/vending machine pick.

>And you aren't a mod,
but you are a raging cocksmoker. go to the homo board and leave Sup Forums to the people that know good content

And yet you're here. Thanks for the bump.

Where do you buy the picks? I've been wanting to start

I spent $100 on my set so your advice means fuck all

Booby traps? What is this 1970s Vietnam?

you going to kick me out?? you can't. I sage each post shit-eater.

Bouncing Bettys

This was my first pick ever. I bent the shit out of it until it broke when I first started learning how to pick locks.

I know good content, OP is fine. He is trying to discuss his hobby with like minded people. Its better than being a giant furfag that does the same thing with his hobby, except he doesnt go try to knock over someone elses sandcastle while still wearing the wolf suit and cum leaking out his ass.

I sure you do. I'm glad you knew that sage hasn't worked since 2012. But I'm sure you knew that since you're a long time veteran here.

>that is why I know what is worthy of a post and what isn't
Well thanks to your wise benevolent oversight Sup Forums is just a shitty porn board now. Why aren't you complaining in the cuck or trap thread

Where do you buy the picks

>guess

LD = ~384,000km
quarter = ~1mm
LD =~ 384 billion quarters

You suck at math.

I do but nobody listen

Best to start off with something cheap and throw away so you don't regret it. A simple 6 piece is more than enough to start. You can buy some off Amazon for less than $10, or even a number 1 BigMac combo price.

This one is pretty decent for beginners:

Do you have tips on how to get started? What can I use to practice picking locks

Until they do, lockpicking is on the better end of the quality scale for threads

how to practice it legally? buy lots of cheap locks, second hand, whatever. at first cheap locks are the best to learn

Pick a master lock as your first trial. Not locked onto anything obviously. That's just my suggestion as that's what I started practicing with. And you can use it to lock things once you're done playing with it.
You can find tons of info on youtube. Lots of lock pickers have the same tutorials, but some have tricks and advice too.

Thanks user. Nice to see someone applying themselves

Get some clear acrylic locks for practice. I got some from sparrows, but there are lots of places you can find them. Makes it much easier to understand what's going on. Then get some shitty master locks to try blind picking on.

What about those practice locks? It's pretty cool to see how what you are doing is affecting the lock.

Not a dentist, but a explorer and adventurer by night. Salaryman by day.

the questions were rhetorical and not directed to u

Whats your skill level

Those are fine if you have the money to spend. It gives you a good visual and hands on to know what you're doing. I never bothered with it and spent like 1 month trying to open my first master lock. I had the key, but I liked messing with it when I had downtime or picking it blindly like someone with a rubics cube.

I've been on it off and on for about 4 years. I can pick master locks in under 10 minutes, it gets faster and faster if its the same lock for obvious reasons. I can pick door knobs in under 30 seconds now. Deadbolts take anywhere between 10 minutes to 30 minutes. So I would say I'm definitely mid range amateur level.

they are cool at first. it helps a lot visualizing what's inside for future locks but they get old and easy super fast

Here's a quick daily hacker tip. If you ever get banned, just clear your cookies.

Doesn't a ban depend on your ip address?

yes but sometimes I get a weird ban that I have to clear my browser cookies too even after changing ip. that doesn't happen all the time so I don't understand exactly when they do that.

Have you considered just not getting banned? You're on one of the most degenerate sites on the internet. All you have to do is not post shit like cp and you'll never get banned.

> All you have to do is not post shit like cp and you'll never get banned.
that's not even close to true. I've documented the many fucked up way mods abuse their power here with capricious bans before and don't feel like doing it again.

It's an addictive feeling. Especially under pressure.

What do you guys think of my new lock pick?

Looks slow and noisy. The tool of a novice.

I can lock pick through a cinder block wall. Can your weak beta picks do that?

That's novice level noob. Get on my level.

Let's be honest here, you'd collapse from exhaustion after three swings.

Shouldn’t take that long to pick a lock. Use graphite instead of wd40.

He never killed anyone but himself
