It's sad that the Texas flag is better than the country's flag.

They uses to use royal emblems.
But the Republic of the 7 provinces, being a republic, had no Royal emblem so it came up with a 3 colored flag instead.
When the European monarchies lost their power most copied that flag becasue it was the only example they had.
I'm not 100% sure but I think the flags with a crosses are based on military flags.
